Despite its extensive history, Ram Records has seldom seen a story like Bensley's. After a mysterious demo fell into the hands of its A&R team, the nineteen-year-old producer began his speedy rise to fame. Whether it was via premieres on Radio1 or Apple's Beats online radio station, showcased by the likes of Mistajam and Zane Lowe, the boy wonder became a buzzword for the genre's newer generation.
From first listen, it's easy to see how Bensley was lifted from the internet's deep pools. Fighting his way through a tide of baying competition, his music stood out and became an anomaly. And since his meteoric climb, the producer has gone from strength to strength. With tightly woven instrumentals that divulge a completely different paradigm to what we're usual exposed to musically, he's become celebrated for a sound which is difficult to imitate.
For his next output, Bensley flexes an even wider range of skill. He takes on the vocal talent of Skyelle, who utilizes her ranges to add an emotional flare between each layer of noise, delivering another notch to his bedpost whilst offer something completely different.
Juxtaposing his debut album on Ram, its impressively divertive yet still channels the sonic personality he's overseen from the beginning.
Here's a single yet to open more doors for the artist… One only just beginning to blossom, despite his already significant prominence.

Program presents: ENCRYPTED 1.0 LP
Hibernating against an already impressively tight discography, Program has been biding its time in unleashing this next release.
With some of the genre's most technically adept artists, the track-listing alone is enough to grab your attention. There is a high calibre of production standard present throughout the LP, audible from start to finish.
Whether you become submerged by Freek's rolling 'Enamoured', accompanied by the pristine vocals of Pia Thaleia, or captured by the apocalyptic sounds of Slang Banger's 'Slaughter House', every taste is catered for. Program sets aside its older sister label Ram and creates a breathing space, allowing it to grow. The label is a heavyweight in its own right; this album is only reaffirms that fact.
And such a range of versatility comes with names both old and new. L 33 returns to the imprint, with clashing bass conundrum 'Manipulate'. Gerra & Stone also make an anticipated reappearance; their contribution 'Po'rdosol' is a steppy riddim constructed through a medley of beats and sliced up sample.
But relative newcomer Elliott Mac uses the LP as a pedestal for another stellar production. The budding artist flexes his capabilities across the soundscape of 'Filter City', delicately composed yet highly intricate. It's demonstrative of Program's dedication to emerging artists, sifting through cyberspace to showcase some of the best acts the underground has to offer.
So now it's time to prepare your subs and plug in your speakers – Program have made a welcome return, further solidifying their position as leading tastemakers with a quality ensured guarantee. It's once again, time to get with the Program!

Proving yet again that Program pedestals versatility and musicianship, the imprint returns with another record which shows it's here to stay. Featuring the renowned tastemaker Crissy Criss, who has premiered some of the bigger drum & bass anthems across the radio airwaves, as well as budding newcomer Malux and Brighton Maestro Erb N Dub, these fresh cuts feature three artists that demonstrate a winning combination.
Up first is the dirtier dancefloor slayer 'Blizzard'. Epitomising the darker sounds these three bring together, it's a techy slice of distorted bassline and snappy stabs which roll you deeper into its directly thick composition. Peddled on kick drum with tinny percussion filtering through the mix, prepare yourself to be drawn into the murkier depths of dancefloor's globally. Switching up midway, the trio take you to a depth they master ingeniously.
You're then introduced to the brooding, rolling number 'Wonky'. Described perfectly within its own name, this lumbering yet dynamic track provides a switch up in any set. Setting out on a funky undercurrent, its falling arpeggios and bouncing subs take you across a production line of carefully crafted beats. Fiercely different from its predecessor, you're provided with a glimpse of the producers' capabilities. A set of skills sure to see them appear on your playlists this summer.
So once again, it's time to get with the Program… a label front lining the genre's shadier side.

Teddy Killerz - 'Teddy Killerz Adventures' EP
Having dropped their debut album ‘Nightmare Street’ plus a slew of other releases on RAM, the trio known as Teddy Killerz return to the label with the ‘Teddy Killerz Adventures’ EP.
They aren’t alone either: Raiser joins proceedings on the rowdy ‘Dinosaur Bass’ while Nais pops up twice on ‘Broken’ and ‘Ready To Move.’ The guys hold things down themselves on the steppy ‘Party Move,’ which keeps up the pace nicely.
It’s welcome return from Europe’s favourite Killerz, with four cuts sure to do serious damage.

James Pountney aka Culture Shock has gone from the passing of an unmarked demo, to arguably the drum & bass scene’s most ground-breaking producer. Since his first release on Moving Shadow in 2004, Culture Shock has consistently pushed boundaries with his sonic artwork, creating a diverse discography which has become symbolic within one of the UK’s most withstanding genres.
The release of the SEQUENCE represents his most accomplished work to date, with the bundle including all six tracks from the SEQUENCE series released over the past 18 months. These include the Radio 1 Hottest Record ‘There For You’, club mainstays ‘Get Physical’ & ‘Take Control’, and ‘Bunker’, one of the most successful tracks of the last five years.
With his most recent single ‘Renaissance’ still being championed by Annie Mac, the bundle also features another electric Culture Shock original in ‘Neighbourhood’, as well as a jungle rework of ‘There For You’ courtesy of man of the moment Breakage, and an explosive techno remix of ‘Bunker’ from WEHBBA.
To coincide with the release, Culture Shock hosted SEQUENCE to a sold out room 1 of the iconic fabric nightclub in London on May 24th, ahead of a hectic Summer touring schedule featuring EDC Las Vegas, Creamfields, Nass, Beats For Love and Eastern Electrics.

Mind Vortex
1. Against The Grain
2. Bigger Than That feat. Evil B
3. Curveball
4. Stand High feat. Daniella
After the release of their 'Colours' EP in 2014, Mind Vortex have switched up a gear and are now rolling forward with even more intensity. Presenting yet another four slabs of sonic-attitude, they've solidified their mark in Ram's roster and are this time coming for the jugular. If you were looking for the same pent-up aggression as 'Hotbox' and 'Gravity', Mind Vortex are not here to disappoint.
Title-track 'Against the Grain' serves as the perfect entrée. Pulsating subs are underpinned by quickening drum patterns, which pull you against a baying tide. Snapping against booming kicks and elevating into an exploding crescendo, one which is meticulously planned. Mind Vortex have shifted the drum & bass paradigm, by merging different stylistic patterns demonstrated even within the EP's very first track.
Rolling out next with quick fire beats and the intimidating growl of Evil B is 'Bigger than that'. The MC leads you into a construction line of chaos, crafted by funk driven basslines and breaks which are bulging at their seams. Weighty, menacing and instantly grappling your attention, it's a sure-fire club anthem… One which has already ignited dancefloors.
With longing piano notes steppily taking you through its introduction, 'Curve Ball' throws you headfirst into a midst of infectious synths and fluctuating key patterns. A driving anthem, yet one which takes its time to methodically build segments, the track stays true to its name. Constantly throwing you jauntily into different directions, this is demonstrative of Mind Vortex's ability to hold you by the ears. There's no stopping this pounding riddim; it beholds a pulse to keep you dancing.
Then finally, comes 'Stand High'. Daniela's vocal delights take you through a journey between breaks, elevated with each beat pattern. Again, Mind Vortex epitomises their command over every nerve in your body. Aboard vocal crescendos, risen by elevating synths you're baited by each hook and snared almost too easily. It's the perfect accompaniment to three already hard-hitting stompers… Proving Mind Vortex's versatility, a trait which is sure to see them explode in the next twelve months.

Ram Trilogy - 'Reflection' (Shimon Remix)
RAM Trilogy 'Revolutions' - https://RAM.lnk.to/revolutionsID
The ‘Revolutions’ LP from Ram pulls together some of the most iconic tracks which the imprint dropped during its beginning stages, spearheaded by Ram Trilogy (Andy C, Shimon and Ant Miles). After celebrating the twentieth anniversary of ‘Molten Beats’, an album which shaped drum & bass at its roots and continued to do so after its release, they’ve now offered the trio’s back catalogue to several producers currently making their own impact in the modern-day.
Featuring reworks from Andy C, Shimon and Ant Miles, each founding member ignites a fresh spark with their offerings. Meanwhile, Insideinfo, Levela, Benny L and Traumatize all flex their production muscles through their take on a set of historic records. With 'Revolutions' already in club circulation, it’s an album Ram fans have been waiting for. And when it drops, it’ll refresh the community as to why Ram has continued its longevity whilst still leading the way within the dance music scene.

With every consecutive release, Program continues to hold the torch for the underground’s rising producers. The sister-label of authoritative imprint Ram Records, they’ve paved the way for newcomers across drum & basses full spectrum, drawing talent from its every corner. Whether that’s in the UK, Europe or across the Atlantic, they stand as a leader for the genre’s underbelly. And for this next release they continue to move with the same A&R flex, this time calling on Drumagick to provide an EP for their next release.
The Brazilian based drum & bass duo rose to international fame after demonstrating their ability to tap into a range of styles, whether that be nu jazz or house, and implement the same diversity for their drum & bass records. This is evident throughout their three-track Program EP, which draws on their background to create a different edge for the label’s growing back catalogue.
The first track slated is ‘Hotshot’, an old-school flavoured, drum ridden roller which switches between peaking sonics and flowing percussive instrumentals. It takes on a vibe which is prevalent throughout festival season, with tuning horns and clattering hi-hats which help set the scene. Drumagick lay out their South American backdrop expertly, pulling you into its sunniest hues. ‘Primetime’ weaves alongside with its antagonistic bassline and steely percussion. The track drops into an almighty kick of sub, bringing down the levels whilst still moving out on its uplifting overtures. And finally, ‘You and Me’ enters the fray, with tinkling note arpeggios and a classically felt piano introduction. Electronic guitar strums sieve their way through the mix, helping to switch up its composition whilst adding to its impressive use of instrumentation.
So once again, it’s time to get with the Program – with Drumagick providing an astounding feat for their first offering on its roster.

With ADE looming on the horizon, it only seemed apt for Ram to yet again provide the perfect drum and bass entrée for Europe's premium dance event. Set to bring another stellar line up from their roster, this compilation packed full of exclusives helps to epitomise the imprint's legacy within dance music. Including brand new cuts, demonstrating the Ram's longevity, this album plays homage to two decades of output.
Leading you deeper into the dark side of 2015, this year's Ramsterdam compilation not only pedestals the artists who've made such a titanic impact throughout the last ten months, but also the emerging talent from sister label Program and Ram's newest signees. Whether it's the old school, growling riddim from Aggressor Bunx, or Calyx & TeeBee's tell-tale, trembling bassline, each track gives the album a unique vantage point.
Featuring on the collosal track listing is Delta Heavy; an exclusive which relays their elevating, pumping composition, it's a dancefloor banger sure to detonate any crowd. And Frankee also makes a welcomed return, following the release of his anticipated single 'Downtown'. 'Raptor' is unforgiving, snapped up by different animalistic samples and stridently aggressive – pedestalling Frankee's unforgiving production standards.
On a totally different vibe, Freek is back with 'Born Different', a clanking yet powerful number, one which gears up into LFO-lead chaos with snapping percussion between each break. Brand new music from production outfits Teddy Killerz and Mind Vortex also make a very valuable addition, proving their unbridled talent, with merciless yet complex records that are fierce and gagging to be let loose on Amsterdam's clubs.
Two of this year's most resounding tracks from the Ram camp, Bensley's 'Aftermath' and Gerra & Stone's 'L.I.E.S.' have also received revamps, providing two anticipated VIPs already igniting sets worldwide. Loadstar also deliver the goods; brand new heavy-hitter 'Dune' demonstrates exactly why they've become such revered names across the genre.
So, here's to another Amsterdam Dance Event. One with a soundtrack provided by one of the most enduring labels, and stellar rosters, that dance music has played host to. And with Ram also holding a night this October, from first listen onwards prepare to be immerse yourself in Ram's vast musical environment.

Need For Mirrors – 'Arp Tune' / 'Reverie'
Released March 8th 2019
_
Hot on the heels of his recently released ‘Royal Blood’ EP on ProgRAM, plus an exclusive appearance on the Drum & Bass Annual 2019 compilation with ‘Big Pharma,’ it’s time for Need For Mirrors’ full debut release on RAM – due out on March 8th.
‘Arp Tune’ immerses you in the cinematic side of what the Londoner can do as a producer. It’s epic in sound and scale, with a stadium sized feel to it; yet none of the intricacies and delicate touches that that drive it are sacrificed because of that. From the arpeggiated notes to its piano lead line with subtle hints of reverb, ‘Arp Tune’ truly signals Need For Mirrors’ arrival on the label.
Similarly, ‘Reverie’ keeps the theme and tone of its predecessor – orchestral string plucks are underpinned by a pitch-bending distorted synth, which itself is juxtaposed by twinkling melodies. Add in some crisp percussion and breaks and you truly see why ‘Reverie’ sits perfectly beside the lead track.
Both tracks prove that RAM and Need For Mirrors refuse to be defined by what people think they should sound like. Quality is always the first and most important factor and with ‘Arp Tune’ and ‘Reverie,’ we’re graced with two stunning pieces of music.
