The signing of electronic duo Camo & Krooked to Ram Records / BMG was met with adulation. Merging a dance music label with twenty-five years of industry-lead experience with one of drum & basses most iconic duos, the news signalled a high-calibre succession of releases for 2016 and beyond. Since then, their latest three singles and the announcement of their Ram debut Mosaik has demonstrated just how hard working the pair are, having already received critical acclamation for their previous three albums and recent BBC Radio1 Essential Mix.

Their next output is in the form of Mandala, a collaboration between Camo & Krooked and Austrian tech pioneer Mefjus. A leader within his own field, Mefjus brings his expertly crafted sonics to a stellar release, one which bites through distorted bass and heavy drum peddles. Mefjus adds a jagged edge to Camo & Krooked’s production standard, providing a juxtaposition which pushes lumbering kick and the punchy snare Camo & Krooked champion. Signalling more featuring artists on the LP’s track listing, Camo & Krooked have enlisted one of the genre’s heaviest hitters for Mandala. The following guests on Mosaik are just as impressive.

The penultimate release before Mosaik drops, Mandala signifies the diversity their LP pedestals. But with a colourful history in their wake, it comes as no surprise and Mosaik stands as a welcome addition to Ram Records historic back catalogue.

Misanthrop isn't just about the music; twelve years the producer has spent on the audio and video components of his artistic vision. Taking inspiration from the world's murkiest corners (which translates through a conundrum of rolling, methodical progression and unapologetic beat patterns) the Hamburg based producer has become infamous.

Combining every aspect of his wide ranging digital skills, his latest 'Collapse EP', due to be released on internationally renowned Ram Records, presents you with a multi-platform shock to the senses.

'Collapse' begins on a note that's carried throughout the entire EP. Nastily slick, propelled forward on distorted bass and sliced up metallic hi-hats, it's diced up by imposing sample snippets; a hulking stack of technicality. A full-frontal opener, don't expect the following three tracks not to follow its precedent.

Up next is 'Fragment', a precarious, angry yet convoluted track that proves Misanthrop's refusal to take a conventional approach. Filtering through and following the ambush dynamic, stocky reverb pulls you down a shoot of clanking, industrial production that only momentarily allows you to fully absorb its driving force.

'Rotor' and 'Attack' roll out in quick procession, each providing an even deeper exploration into Misanthrop's vast production repertoire. Whilst 'Rotor', having lined sets over the past twelve months, spins underneath layers of snapping percussion, pulsating subs and blaring kick drum, 'Attack' takes a different approach. In your face, obtrusive yet able to lead you onto any dancefloor, it flicks through a higher frequency whilst being underpinned by pumping drum patterns and eventually flipped with a subliminal vocal snippet.

So, making a guest appearance on the Ram imprint, it's time to immerse yourself in the darkly stooped world of Misanthrop. And if there's one record to get you ready for a weekend of drum & bass, this is certainly it.

Little under a year since his exclusive signing to Ram Records, an imprint handling one of the drum & bass genre’s most monumental catalogues, Skantia is slowly growing to be the imprint’s most identifiable new face. With a roster that has spearheaded the label’s expansion and its reputation as a leading figure within dance music, this isn’t an easy feat. His succession of releases after being welcomed onto the Ram moniker have enabled this ascent and following the likes of recent single ‘UV Rays’ and ‘Allure’, Skantia returns with another attention-grabbing release.
Skantia represents the younger breed of artists currently infiltrating club spaces but he’s adding his own twist on current trends. Both ‘Pheromone’ and ‘Dark Matter’ exemplify Skantia’s unique blend; a-side ‘Pheromone’ bodes together a gritty display of hollowed kicks with crackling LFOs. Meanwhile, ‘Dark Matter’ drives forward with a sense of urgency, amongst progressive clanks of percussion and punchy subs. Skantia comes back to Ram with the same intensity he injects into all his releases, alongside an output which is proving to be unstoppable.

Stepping on the throttle once more, ‘Nova’ is the third single to come from Killbox’s ‘Devine Profits’ album, setting an explosive scene for the seismic LP’s eventual release. With tracks ‘Epicentre’ and ‘Mutiny’ standing as its first chaotic building blocks, both Ed Rush and Audio have shown their combined might is still as strong years on from the pairing's climatic showcase. They prove they're back on Ram and they’re here to take no prisoners

With a typically cutthroat composition, ‘Nova’ focuses on more crashing, dancefloor twists and pulsing LFOs which bubble throughout the mix. Their aim is to take you into the depths of club land through their sounds, something they do with expert precision.  Killbox delivers a hefty blow for another round with ‘Nova’, signalling that the coming ‘Devine Profits’ package is set to be a fiery follow up to their 2018 offering 'Pleasure Palace'. However, considering their combined histories, this was only to be expected from such a seminal pairing.

Last month’s liquid rollout from Mel C was the perfect Summer mode switch up, so we move into July’s RAMLive with the latest member of the RAM Records family: Skantia

The 22-year-old, who graduated from sister label ProgRAM after just one release, has already made his mark on 2019 with debut single Cluster and his scene stealing Bassline Secret remix, which has been battered by some of drum & bass’s biggest and best, including Andy C and Chase & Status. Before becoming a producer Skantia cut his teeth as DJ, becoming resident at Dilate in his hometown of Newcastle. Using production to boost his sets, for his RAMLive you can expect to hear a few of his own tracks in the mix and with a penchant for the more stripped back, roller sound of drum & bass it’ll get deep, dark and murky with some serious vibes thrown in for good measure. One of the most exciting emerging talents in the scene, Skantia is sure to deliver some serious sounds for your Monday night.

Celebrating over two decades in the game, Hamilton returns with two furiously uncompromising slabs of bass. Yet again, Hamilton proves his production prowess, adding to his already impressive discography on Ram.

Up first is 'Bounce That', pushing through with an electrical energy and a refusal to sit in any given subgenre, a war cry signposting his arrival, Hamilton has created a dancefloor call to arms which packs a punch with every drop. On top of raw mechanical momentum, it's a sound driven rollercoaster, proving the perfect way to demonstrate his new era of production.

On the flipside, 'War' takes you into a murkier realm. Zipping lazers amongst industrial drums and vibrating basslines take you deeper into a deeper space, creating atmospherics which totally envelop you. Prodding stabs further add to the unrelenting composition, with female vocals slipping wryly between each segment. Once again, this sees Hamilton further adding to his skill set, whilst still playing homage to his roots.

A glowing example of the producer's journey, and one which is beginning to pick up momentum. Despite a short hiatus, he's back and proving more formidable than ever with his major LP project '22', this is not the last you'll hear from Hamilton in the coming future…

2017 saw Luka Per, also known through his alias Smooth, release his first full ‘Resurrection’ EP on the Ram Records moniker and he follows this after nearly three years with his brand new 'Funk Town' EP. He offers the same dancefloor-hooks which have made him so sought after across worldwide clubs and ‘Airpod’ leads alongside thumping kick drums, helping to drive the track forward. Following is the more melodic throws of ‘Grasshopper’ and the jungle inspired breaks of ‘Strictly Vibes’ alongside Dread MC's vocal call to arms. ‘Funk Town’ is the final delivery, spearheading the grooves which have made Smooth’s production ooze with such danceability. Four new tracks to kick off the New Year, Smooth provides an EP that pays homage to Ram's recognisable sound.

The stomping next single from Killbox is here and yet again they prove why so much anticipation was generated around the announcement of a second album on Ram Records. ‘Devine Profits’ is a testament to the pair’s decorated histories and it's an exploration of the sounds they’ve built over two very illustrious careers.

‘Beaker’ presents another piece to the puzzle and with a foreboding intro that drops into a cut throat, precise drum work and rattling bass snaps, they deliver one of the album’s more tear out offerings. With more singles in the pipeline to be revealed, 2020 has been taken into the hands of Killbox and they’re producing some of their most unforgiving selections to date.
