Fresh off the announcement that Rene Lavice is now taking over Radio 1’s tastemaking drum & bass slot, his forthcoming single on Ram Records has been hijacking club speakers worldwide. One of his most riotous tracks to date ‘Woohoo’ provides a snapping follow up to hearty vocal roller ‘Let You Go’ ft. Jareth, once again acting as a pedestal for his unbridled levels of creativity.
Time after time Rene has ensured he’s continued the same levels of production which saw him first signed to the Ram imprint. And after two critically acclaimed LPs and Radio 1 A-list addition, he’s remained at the top of his game. ‘Woohoo’ is a testament to that, more reminiscent of his earlier tracks ‘Where My Ladies At’ and ‘Insidious’ and it demonstrates how despite his more commercial output, he’s still able to tap into the darker flipside of his discography.
With crackling, reverberating snares and a thumping bassline, ‘Woohoo’ crashes forward alongside an undeterred attitude. Siren-like in its intro, you’re instantly pulled through a chasm of slickly layered beats and Rene’s sampled call to arms punching its way through the mix. If you’re looking for a record that’ll take pride of place within any club-lead set, Rene LaVice has delivered, showing his penchant for dancefloor records which are just as intimidating in home speakers.
The third LP from Rene LaVice has been slated for early next year and with it comes a brand new package filled with more additions to an already stellar back catalogue. And following an extensive tour schedule, which will see him perform at the Ram 25 world tour dates, across Europe’s biggest venues, he remains at the pinnacle of his career.

Sound In Noise – ‘Shapes Pt.1’
__

So far 2019 has seen RAM come out of the blocks with some amazing music and adding to that is the return of Sound In Noise. Delivering the first in a series of releases culminating into an album, Sound In Noise presents ‘Shapes Pt.1’.

From the dark, rattling march of ‘Cowards,’ (a track subject to three rewinds from Andy C at XOYO), with its echoes of his remix of Fresh’s ‘The Gatekeeper’, to the disco funk vibes of ‘Deep Inside’ and the dramatic ‘One By One’ featuring Marianna Ray, ‘Shapes Pt.1’ highlights Sound In Noise’s ability to turn his hand to any style in the drum & bass spectrum with spectacular ease.

An appetite wetter for more forthcoming music; be sure to keep your ears open for what else Sound In Noise has in store - ‘Shapes Pt.1’ is just the start.

An infamously quick-fire dj, as well as one of the most hotly tipped producers to date, Frankee is returning yet again with a single to further solidify his position.

Whether it's from a set played on the notorious Ibiza waterfront, or amongst a packed out, dimly lit stage in super club Fabric, you'll instantly recognise these refined cuts premiered over the last six months. Detonating a hard lined crowd at Drum & Bass Arena's Easter weekend, Power and Downtown are of two totally different flavours, yet still pull raw energy and emotion from dancefloors globally.

Featuring the vocal talents of Simon Franks, 'Downtown' demonstrates an ability to tap into a hugely diverse range of capacities. Fading between carefully textured breaks, as well as a cleverly distorted bass, it spans a hugely intricate composition. Fluctuating note patterns perfectly underpin slowly elevated synths; cutting open and laying bear the producer's depth. Working his more emotive soundscape 'Downtown' epitomises Frankee's versatility and his multidimensional approach to music making.

On the flipside, a much darker standard is set. Winding up before clanking into a maze of snapping hi-hats, reverberating bass and barrages of driving drum loops 'Power' demonstrates the harder style of his production, as seen in previous tracks like 'Snarl' and 'Excalibur'. Brooding, gritty and a perfect 4am grinder, the delivery of this next single presents two opposing tracks that help to exemplify Frankee's vast discography.

The Ram Records 2017 Drum & Bass Annual doesn’t just stand as a testament to the imprint. After working over two decades within the genre, standing at its forefront and delivering piece after piece of ground-breaking dance music, they’re immortalising their twenty fifth anniversary with the biggest drum & bass compilation to be released since the label’s inception. Featuring a massive 60 tracks, with every name who’s trail-blazed this year’s must have releases, prepare to be thrown into the world of drum & bass like never before.
With cuts from head honcho Andy C, as well as Symmetry’s underground boss Break, neuro pioneers Noisia and break through artists such as Urbandawn, Voltage and many more, this LP caters to a range of palettes. A huge spectrum of sound is covered by the album, giving a glimpse into every corner of the genre’s entirety and delivering the finest cuts seen over the past twelve months. Whether it’s The Prototypes’ ‘Rocket Guns Blazing’, which detonated festival stages globally, or Wilkson’s dancefloor radio hit ‘Sweet Lies’, no stone goes unturned.
You’re also introduced to a wide range of remixes; producer’s who’ve already established their sound rework some of dance music’s most well-known anthems. Dimension’s twist on Deadmau5’s ‘Strobe’ was a heavily sought after record, with cyberspace counting down the days until its release. Nestling itself in the track listing alongside Shy FX’s summertime remix of ‘Stay with Me’, as well as Etherwood’s beautifully revised version of Gorgon City & Mnek’s chart topper ‘Ready for Your Love’, you’re given a glimpse into the industry drum & bass reign supreme over.
Brand new sonic artwork such as Bad Company UK’s ‘Nomad’ also makes the cut, epitomising the signings which Ram Records have embarked on this year. The roster is now packed with the likes of Bad Company UK, a quartet who’ve set a precedent and released a number of genre-defining records. Camo & Krooked also bring their Ram offering ‘If I Could’, following the recent announcement that they’ll be releasing their next LP on Ram.
Sixty tracks for you to indulge in and sixty tracks to remind yourself of how strong drum & bass still is in 2017. A must have for not only drum & bass fans, but music listeners alike, it’s a reflection of what both Ram has done for the genre, as well as the milestones drum & bass has hit over the last twelve months.

Frankee has been working hard in the studio recently, diligently crafting these next few cuts and creating his biggest body of work to date. After a brief hiatus, he’s returned to the scene with a whole record collection of tracks which symbolise his meteoric climb. The first selection is ‘Romana’, a stepping stone towards his first LP on revered imprint Ram Records. After delivering cuts for Ram’s sister-label Program, he was signed exclusively to one of the most monumental dance music outputs in the world. Since then, he’s grown from strength to strength, creating crunching, club bangers like ‘Gully’, as well as liquid rollers like ‘Love & Peace’. His diversity is astounding and this carries through into his forthcoming LP, due to be released later this year.

Frankee is also a notorious figure on the club circuit. Having performed at the world’s largest drum & bass gathering, including Prague’s Let it Roll and Russia’s Pirate Station his presence behind the decks is just as diverse as his studio releases and his first LP will certainly reflect this.

‘Romana’ is deceptive in its intro, moving out on soft instrumentals, plucking notes and a female-lead vocal melody. However, the track quickly switches, crashing forward on grating snare with a bassline that quickly zips between the mix. Pitched up synth cuts between layers, giving you a brief respite before the record once again crashes with vibrating subs. ‘Romana’ is the perfect reintroduction into Frankee’s versatility, one that’s sure to bring him even further onto the forefront.

Pre-order: Coming soon!

Scoping a methodical landscape, Gerra & Stone have begun to take charge of an underground dominion which was already steep with competition. They've slowly invaded cyberspace, becoming a focal point for adept drum & bass whilst remaining a talking point across the online platforms.
And now they've joined forces with dance-floor pacifier Program, epitomising a production style which has gained them such a reputation.
Already setting the pace is opening track 'Ison'. A steppy riddim littered with masqueraded drum beats, it's a power-driven journey which snaps you back and forth between layers. The building blocks of an already tightly compact intro are built upon by a vocal sample which is a premonition for what's to come. The composition is already impressively intricate; however, once this break is delivered you're diverted into a plunging drop that drives you even deeper into the mix maze. With blow-out percussion and a taste for the finer technicalities expect 'Ison' to command every beat of your ear drum and ensure this release leaves an after taste difficult to shake.
With metallic thumps slicing through waiflike samples, even the intro to second track 'Vengeance' is intimidating. Twisted breakbeats create a forward motion that pushes you deeper and deeper into its grasp, whilst the track's title plays out in between bars of finely-tuned anarchy. This is contemporary drum & bass at its finest; the kind its forefather's dreamt of. Precisely laid out, yet paying homage to its underground roots by being fiercely unapologetic.
So yet again, it's time to get with the Program, as this round certainly goes to Gerra & Stone. Their set to catapult themselves to the top this New Year... Whilst leaving no prisoners.

Killbox & Forbidden Society - 'Transistor'

Taken from the Killbox album 'Divine Profits'
Click to stream/buy: https://RAM.lnk.to/divineprofitsID
___

‘Divine Profits’ stands as the second album legendary producers Ed Rush and Audio have released as part of their Killbox project, an outfit which boasts orchestrating some of the most pivotal changes in the darkside drum & bass underworld. Debuting in 2017 and unleashing a sleuth of releases which have marked their place within the genre's chronologies, Killbox do what they do best from start to finish and that’s unload sounds which are not written for a commercial sphere. And that’s why they’ve gained such a cult following over the decades they’ve been active, amassing a fan base which has seen them still garner tastemaker support. Their experience shines through ‘Divine Profits’ and it’s an album to get strapped in for as you’re taken through each seismic record.

From the growling undercurrents of ‘Epicentre’ through to the brooding intensity of ‘Rodan’, with ‘Cypher Pattern’, ‘Mutiny’, ‘Beaker’ and ‘Nova’ marking in-between, the singles already showcased by Killbox prove ‘Divine Profits’ still presents the echelons of the underground. With more to come on the album, including the tech-defined selection ‘Dab Lab’, as well as the titanic feel and grooves of ‘Yard Stick’, it’s an eclectic mix of Killbox’s engineering that’s developed over their careers. Czech stalwart Forbidden Society also makes an appearance on the brooding minimalism of ‘Transistor’, meanwhile ‘Multiply’ and ‘Reverent’ add to the album’s chaos.

It’s a striking collection and one which presents another definitive album on Ram Records, an imprint that's been leading the charge for nearly thirty years.

Acclaimed Canadian musician Bensley releases his eagerly awaited sophomore album ‘Muskoka’ on RAM Records on 26 July, featuring twelve scintillating cuts that demonstrate why he is one of the most original and exciting talents in Drum & Bass.

With ‘Muskoka’, Bensley takes the listener on an exciting, immersive journey and draws upon his varied musical talents, dropping elements of jazz (as on ‘Hard Times’ and ‘One Last Chance – Remix’ which feature Bensley’s impressive alto-saxophone playing), hip-hop (‘Do It Again’ ft. Armanni Reign), plus breaks and jungle (‘Muskoka’ which incorporates clever samples to evoke sounds of animals and birdlife).

This creates an unforgettable album which is as vibrant and awe-inspiring as the landscape and nature of the part of Canada which has inspired its namesake, Muskoka.

On ‘Muskoka’ Bensley says: "‘Muskoka’ is a body of work comprised primarily of music that I wrote while at my family’s lakeside cottage in Muskoka, Ontario. This is a place where I’ve spent every summer for as long as I can remember, and that has hugely shaped the person I am today. The breath-taking wildlife, forests and lakes provide an endless source of inspiration and make Muskoka not only my favourite place to write music, but my favourite place to be.”

Bensley’s ground-breaking 2015 debut album ‘Next Generation’ won him widespread acclaim, including from Zane Lowe, MistaJam, Friction, Zeds Dead and DJ Fresh. This debut was followed by celebrated singles ‘Outsider’, ‘Tiptoe’, and ‘Slither’, plus official remixes for the likes of Flux Pavilion, Azari & III, and Camo & Krooked.

James Pountney aka Culture Shock has gone from the passing of an unmarked demo, to arguably the drum & bass scene’s most ground-breaking producer. Since his first release on Moving Shadow in 2004, Culture Shock has consistently pushed boundaries with his sonic artwork, creating a diverse discography which has become symbolic within one of the UK’s most withstanding genres.

The release of the SEQUENCE represents his most accomplished work to date, with the bundle including all six tracks from the SEQUENCE series released over the past 18 months. These include the Radio 1 Hottest Record ‘There For You’, club mainstays ‘Get Physical’ & ‘Take Control’, and ‘Bunker’, one of the most successful tracks of the last five years.

With his most recent single ‘Renaissance’ still being championed by Annie Mac, the bundle also features another electric Culture Shock original in ‘Neighbourhood’, as well as a jungle rework of ‘There For You’ courtesy of man of the moment Breakage, and an explosive techno remix of ‘Bunker’ from WEHBBA.

To coincide with the release, Culture Shock hosted SEQUENCE to a sold out room 1 of the iconic fabric nightclub in London on May 24th, ahead of a hectic Summer touring schedule featuring EDC Las Vegas, Creamfields, Nass, Beats For Love and Eastern Electrics.

The forthcoming album Different Breed from DC Breaks has been years in the making. Featuring a massive fifteen tracks and including some of their best loved singles from recent years, DC Breaks have delivered a massive feat that will ensure their place within the drum & bass anthology. From their song writing ability to their wide-ranging DJ support, the producers’ output has shone through in playlists across the dance music spectrum. From BBC Radio1’s Annie Mac, to 1xtra’s Mistajam and revered music icon Zane Lowe, they’ve received a plethora of A-list spins.

Having made multiple festival appearances across the last two years, including NASS, Arcadia Glastonbury, Beyond Wonderland and Prague’s infamous Let it Roll, they’ve become a staple on the DJ circuit. They’ve teased many album tracks out to huge crowds of drum & bass lovers, taking festival sets into vocal crescendos and sonic annihilation with their hard-hitting, no holds-barred anthems.
Including their recent collaboration with underground heavyweight Prolix for Infinity, the renowned VIP for DC Breaks’ classic Gambino, the jump-up vibes of Underground and the uplifting-melodies of Never Stop (which helped to sound track the Olympics, Formula 1 and Match of the Day) and Everybody, Different Breed also includes huge array of fresh cuts. Dipping their feet once again into the world of neuro, MC Nuklear joins them on Dead or Alive for an intimidating cut whilst Vendetta moulds their signature basslines into an even darker realm. Remember, Step Up, Organism and Hustle also jump into the fray, proving that DC Breaks discography still has its grittier side that snaps its jaws with every break.

On the other end of the spectrum sits records like Time to Kill ft. Diane Birch, who offers her climatic high-notes for a dynamic roller, as well as Moving On and No One Like You ft. Niara Scarlett, adding a soulful dash to an already impressive set of featuring artists. And lastly, SWAG 2017 makes an appearance, a rework of the track which catapulted DC Breaks onto Beatport’s number one position for a month.

Different Breed will stand as a testament to not just their longevity, but their experience and growth as artists throughout decades. Released on Ram Records, another resounding name within the electronic scene, their debut LP will be met with anticipation from both old and new fans. It also signifies another monumental part of their journey. A journey not looking to be over anytime soon.

DC Breaks
RAMM316
‘Different Breed Remixes’
RAM RECORDS
RELEASED 14th March

The announcement of DC Breaks’ ‘Different Breed’ remix package came as a surprise. The original LP has already done untold carnage through the club circuit, so to bring on board more high ranking artists for yet another ‘Different Breed’ project is a huge feat. And having already dropped reworks from A.M.C & Turno, Flowidus and Tantrum Desire, their list of collaborators is continuing to grow.

This time they draw for Ram Records roster members Loadstar and heavyweight engineer InsideInfo, who both extract the original vibes and mould them into their own individualistic styles. Whilst Loadstar implements their more melodic, dancefloor infused breakdowns for ‘Remember’, InsideInfo crashes forward with a darker, bass-ridden undertow through his take on ‘Gambino’. Yet again DC Breaks relies on their fierce counterparts, keeping the duo at the centre of the game through an expert A&R craftsmanship. This can be seen not only through their own releases, but also the artists they’ve chosen to breathe a new life into their damaging cuts.

The world's biggest drum & bass festival is approaching and with it comes some of the scene's most formidable imprints. With over two decades of experience, Ram has heralded the genre since its inception. And this year, they'll be taking over the insanely engineered Factory stage with a line up like no other, featuring the heaviest names across their roster.

In celebration of their stage takeover, the imprint has provided four fresh cuts to whet your appetite. In association with the festival, they've picked a host of names to provide a soundtrack to your summer.

Up first comes the long awaited release of Calyx & TeeBee's 'Get it Twisted'. Following the runaway success of their 2nd LP on Ram, this is a welcome follow up, with reverberating LFO which flicks between the vocal talents of Calyx himself. Proving they're kingpins of the game, there's no better way to reintroduce you to Ram's most resounding veterans.

Then the monumental collaboration between Rene LaVice and Current Value rolls out next. A pairing seldom seen, they bring together two varying styles that merge to create something both irrevocably huge and drivingly dynamic. With Rene's tell-tale production standard merged with the gritty, tech-infused sounds of Current Value, 'Calm the Fuck Down' is anything but a wind down.

June Miller's slice of stabbing bass 'Spin Test' is exactly what you'd expect; ingenious in its design, with pounding drum loops amongst a tightly knit composition. A duo who come with no apologies, they've been on the genre's forefront since with debut 'Robots & Romans' LP, and this next output proves they're here to stay.

Changing the tone slightly is Ram Records guest Madface, who once again teams up with Janine Small for a stunning vocal number that provides a lighter hue. Soft pads and vocal crescendos bring you deep into the mix, demonstrating Madface's ability to encapsulate the versatile sounds of the spectrum's lighter end.

So, let Ram take you into Prague this summer… As the countdown is on until this year's biggest drum & bass festival detonates subs and ear drums globally.

Upgrade
You Got Me
RAMM371

Stream/Download: https://ram.lnk.to/UpgradeID

Upgrade has been a frequent guest on the Ram Records catalogue; first coming through as part of their formative compilation series, he’s done this whilst crossing an array of subgenres to prove the range of his musicality. Following his recent standalone single ‘Won’t Hold Back’ on the imprint, one which underlined his vocal talents, he returns with a track featuring another flavour.

With slamming breaks and an old-school rhythm, ‘You Got Me’ shines a light on the moodier side of Upgrade’s production. Its rave-era esque samples provide the record's call to arms, juxtaposed by the breakdowns underpinned by its harmony.  This is a slight move away from his usual jump-up vibe and instead goes for a classic Ram Records back catalogue piece. A sure way to capture its widespread audience.

Ram Trilogy - 'Beastman' (Traumatize Remix)

RAM Trilogy 'Revolutions' - https://RAM.lnk.to/revolutionsID

The ‘Revolutions’ LP from Ram pulls together some of the most iconic tracks which the imprint dropped during its beginning stages, spearheaded by Ram Trilogy (Andy C, Shimon and Ant Miles). After celebrating the twentieth anniversary of ‘Molten Beats’, an album which shaped drum & bass at its roots and continued to do so after its release, they’ve now offered the trio’s back catalogue to several producers currently making their own impact in the modern-day.

Featuring reworks from Andy C, Shimon and Ant Miles, each founding member ignites a fresh spark with their offerings. Meanwhile, Insideinfo, Levela, Benny L and Traumatize all flex their production muscles through their take on a set of historic records. With 'Revolutions' already in club circulation, it’s an album Ram fans have been waiting for. And when it drops, it’ll refresh the community as to why Ram has continued its longevity whilst still leading the way within the dance music scene.

Made In Detroit
PLATE004

____

The Plates series from Calyx & Teebee has seen them strip back todays music conventions and release records in a format which draws full attention to each innovative part of the project. For its fourth chapter, they’re about to deliver ‘Made in Detroit’, a track which has already garnered chaotic reactions from audiences, especially when dropped at this years Boomtown festival. It’s a take on the classic sound through the lens of Calyx & Teebee and a cut which hints at the duo’s antiquity.

With techno influences being a driving force behind ‘Made in Detroit’, although switched to a hammering drum & bass tempo and given the expert Calyx & Teebee moniker, you’re brought into patches of twisting, grappling bass and bleeping, atmospheric stabs, building to create an immersive landscape. Following the seven-minute journey ‘Look to the Skies’, ‘Made it Detroit’ continues the same ethos of Plates but through a different sonic spectrum whilst still holding their impeccable standards. Prepare, once more, to be pulled into the world of Plates.

Sprinting at an incredible speed, June Miller are inevitably coming closer to their debut album. With seven more days until this conundrum of genre cross-pollination and production ingenuity is unleashed, here's a small appetiser to prepare yourself for an eclipse, caused by June Miller's vast capabilities.

'Chain of Strength' is a starter which hits you with wave after wave of seismic bass-driven impact, instantly recognisable as the intro to Andy C's soldout Brixton performance. Lead unsuspectingly from a lulling piano intro, straight through a chasm of smashing, hardcore-reminiscent percussion and driving drums, it proves the duo's endless versatility. Alongside a building break that literally pulses with anticipation, that first drop leaves you free-falling into an explosion of tightly intricate composition. A complete sensory overload, it sets a standard matched by their new material.

Then comes 'Last Night on Earth', creepy and gradually building tension with an instantly-recognisable sample of cinematic proportions. Both tracks are equally unstoppable, not leaving you time to breathe and carrying across an ocean of sound which is relentless. Amongst the ghost-like, clashing swords and almost untenable intensity, you're pulled through loops of incessant hi-hats, amongst palpitation-inducing drum patterns.

A single that embodies the peak of any weekend set, here's the marker for June Miller's meteoric rise. After merging some of the darkest European styles, as well as smashing genre prototypes and incorporating drum & bass' core production, the duo are switching up the game onto its next level.
