Legion & Logam
‘I Blame Myself’ ft. Tyler Hill (Official Video)
Out Now

Legion & Logam stand as a historic part of the Ram Records roster. They were the first American act to be signed exclusively to the label and as a result, they’ve helped to bridge the gap which has formed across the Atlantic when it comes to the darker edges of dance music. However with Ram standing at the helm of its expansion in the US, drum & bass has never looked healthier. On first listen to the brand new single forthcoming from the production trio, it’s easy to see how this has happened. Recorded within the versatile music scene of Atlanta, Legion & Logam brought Tyler Hill on board to have his rich vocals added to their emotive track ‘I Blame Myself’.

After a chance meeting between Legion member Hunter and Tyler Hill through a mutual friend, Legion & Logam moulded Hill’s own folk record into their 174bpm guidelines, within just one take. On first listen to their collaboration, it’s easy to see why this chance meeting proved so fruitful for both the artists and the imprint. Legion & Logam have shown that they’re able to produce both underground, percussive club tracks and daintier vocal-lead tracks, most notably their breakthrough ‘House of Cards’ cut which dropped on Program. ‘I Blame Myself’ follows the same vibe, with its soft percussive pads and rising synths building its formula, whilst Tyler’s voice sits dreamlike on top of its heavy layering. Guitar strums help introduce Tyler’s harmonising and you’re soon taken into its gradual breakdown, taken through by a bassline that leads you deep into the heart of ‘I Blame Myself’.

It’s a stunning follow up to Legion & Logam’s first single on the Ram Records imprint and it demonstrates the contemporary world of Ram, as well as the bridges its building within electronic music.

Bensley was an artist picked from relative obscurity – a name which was absent from cyberspace, with no music available to stream anywhere online. However, when his intricately crafted, stunning sonic demos landed on the desk of Andy C’s esteemed Ram Records imprint, he soon rose to infamy within the drum & bass world. His release ‘Fandango’, the first snapshot into his impeccable production standard, was met with critical claim, from press to radio. Pedestalled on the revered UKF platform and on tastemaker Mistajam’s Radio 1xtra show, his story became legendary. The nineteen-year-old was an anomaly within dance music, grafting alone in the studio only to be picked up by one of dance music’s most definitive imprints.

Shortly after his exclusive signing to Ram, he released his debut LP ‘Next Generation’. For an artist that young to release such an impressive body of work, over such a small period, was almost unheard of. And in the years following, he followed up this album with single after single of unrestrained talent. His next offering comes in the form of ‘Under the Sunshine’, once again returning to a more vocal-lead style which resonates more outside of the club. With dreamy synths, beautifully rolling beats and Charlotte Haining’s vocal overtones adding to the track’s strident melody, ‘Under the Sunshine’ flexes Bensley’s full production might. It’s a crossover electronic track layered by his penchant for song writing.

The story continues for Bensley. ‘Under the Sunshine’ represents his evolving sound and with the guidance provided by Ram, he’s looking to develop his artistry throughout an array of genres. Drum & bass was the beginning, but his multi-faceted skillset continues to grow with every release; this single is a testament to that.

Sound In Noise – ‘Shapes Pt.1’
__

So far 2019 has seen RAM come out of the blocks with some amazing music and adding to that is the return of Sound In Noise. Delivering the first in a series of releases culminating into an album, Sound In Noise presents ‘Shapes Pt.1’.

From the dark, rattling march of ‘Cowards,’ (a track subject to three rewinds from Andy C at XOYO), with its echoes of his remix of Fresh’s ‘The Gatekeeper’, to the disco funk vibes of ‘Deep Inside’ and the dramatic ‘One By One’ featuring Marianna Ray, ‘Shapes Pt.1’ highlights Sound In Noise’s ability to turn his hand to any style in the drum & bass spectrum with spectacular ease.

An appetite wetter for more forthcoming music; be sure to keep your ears open for what else Sound In Noise has in store - ‘Shapes Pt.1’ is just the start.

Killbox
‘Pleasure Palace’
Out Now
Ram Records

After the announcement that Ed Rush and Audio would be joining arms to present their brand new ‘Killbox’ project, their stream of releases have been relentless. Although this can only be expected from artists who have decade’s worth of experience within drum & bass, paving their own ways and even shaping the genre’s foundations. The epitomic part of their project now comes in the form of their forthcoming LP ‘Pleasure Palace’, a colossal fourteen tracks which includes a host of unreleased records reclaiming their places as contemporary pillars within the scene. They’re now set to add to their conjoined history and ‘Pleasure Palace’ offers another chapter, alongside many of their standalone, groundbreaking LPs.

Having already unveiled the likes of ‘Cousin of Zilch’, ‘Clickbait’ ft. Rymetyme, ‘Neverwhere’ and ‘Witchmaker’, which have lined many of the biggest sets over the last time twelve months, they are set to explode back onto the market with a huge selection of fresh cuts. The gritty sounds of ‘Colony’ with its manipulated bass movements open the LP, with ‘Kashmir Uzi’ continuing the assault. ‘Goldfoot’ crashes forward with the same ferocity whilst ‘Kurtz’ rolls into play with crunching LFOs. The peaking vocals of Loletta Holloways on ‘Nitty Gritty’ smashes through alongside its climatic breaks, followed by in quick succession by ‘Shoreditch Shuffle’ and ‘Delete Profile’. They both channel the same chaos but ‘Delete Profile’ expands with a more subdued air. ‘Real World’ once again ramps up the track listing with its executioners’ style, whilst ‘Soul Eject’ appeals to the pairs more old-school roots with its cranking snares. Closing the album, ‘Troll Eater’ comes fast and hard, the final climax with a lasting impression. It’s an undeniably versatile collection, projecting a side of both artists which have yet to been.

‘Pleasure Palace’ will be released on the twenty-five year strong dance imprint Ram Records and the stage has already been set. After decimating crowds at London’s definitive Arcadia show, their soundtrack is about to be unleashed on drum & bass’ wider audience.

Sprinting at an incredible speed, June Miller are inevitably coming closer to their debut album. With seven more days until this conundrum of genre cross-pollination and production ingenuity is unleashed, here's a small appetiser to prepare yourself for an eclipse, caused by June Miller's vast capabilities.

'Chain of Strength' is a starter which hits you with wave after wave of seismic bass-driven impact, instantly recognisable as the intro to Andy C's soldout Brixton performance. Lead unsuspectingly from a lulling piano intro, straight through a chasm of smashing, hardcore-reminiscent percussion and driving drums, it proves the duo's endless versatility. Alongside a building break that literally pulses with anticipation, that first drop leaves you free-falling into an explosion of tightly intricate composition. A complete sensory overload, it sets a standard matched by their new material.

Then comes 'Last Night on Earth', creepy and gradually building tension with an instantly-recognisable sample of cinematic proportions. Both tracks are equally unstoppable, not leaving you time to breathe and carrying across an ocean of sound which is relentless. Amongst the ghost-like, clashing swords and almost untenable intensity, you're pulled through loops of incessant hi-hats, amongst palpitation-inducing drum patterns.

A single that embodies the peak of any weekend set, here's the marker for June Miller's meteoric rise. After merging some of the darkest European styles, as well as smashing genre prototypes and incorporating drum & bass' core production, the duo are switching up the game onto its next level.

RECEIVING SUPPORT FROM ANDY C, CHASE & STATUS, NETSKY, WILKINSON, ADVENTURE CLUB, SUB FOCUS & MORE

"The British pair, consisting of Ben Hall and Simon James, have been impressing crowds of bassheads with their undeniable talent in producing dubstep, DnB, trap, and generally all things heavy." – DJ Mag

"From their D&B roots they've since gone on to demonstrate their impeccable production skills across a multitude of genres from 110 to dubstep to electro." – UKF

One of the most exciting UK duos to take their sound transatlantic, Delta Heavy are returning after the viral success of their last single 'Ghost' with the perfect successor. Captivating crowds with their cross-genre pollination, this next release solidifies a position for two of the most diverse producers the scene has to offer. Whether it's at 174 bpm or switching it down a notch for the kind of sub-filled, bouncy records which made them so notorious across the club circuit, this next output from Delta Heavy perfectly merges two opposite ends of the spectrum. And this will stand as a resounding part of their discography; that's both on the radio airwaves and from the speakers of venues globally.

Whether it's playing on stages across the US touring with Ram, sitting on line ups at the world's biggest festivals or entering the drum & bass Beatport top ten on consecutive releases, Delta Heavy's feats haven't gone unnoticed. As well as amassing scores of fans from each continent and racking up millions of streams since their first output, a heavyweight title is about to be reinstated.

First up is the genre defying 'Punish my Love', pumped up by a chiselled groove and lead by the high-reaching vocals of rising stalwart Tanika. Its more humanistic elements slip between throbbing subs and a warbling bassline, it exposes how far their repertoire can extend to. On the flipside, we're presented with a vastly different mix, which still manages to hold onto the deep-seated funk that's prevalent throughout its predecessor. Sped up, unapologetic and drivingly powerful from the first break, it juxtaposes the original presenting a record that'll detonate real dancefloor devastation.

Signalling one step closer to a second LP, Delta Heavy have once again proved their aptitude for drum & bass production standards, as well as their ability to tap into their diverse musical backgrounds for an astounding end to 2015. And with their album looming on the horizon, the single is set to build momentum at an even quicker speed.

RAM25 - The Album - Out Now
https://www.ramrecords.com/download/ramm300d

Standing as one of the most resounding electronic music labels in history, Ram Records has finally hit its 25-year milestone. Established by Andy C and Ant Miles in 1992, the label has boldly placed itself on the forefront since its inception, acting as a foundation for the drum & bass genre and seeing through its development from the very beginning.

Once heralded as a platform for Andy C’s own productions, the imprint expandedmassively, becoming a world-renowned hub for some of the biggest drum & bass artists to ever hit the scene. The label has gone from strength to strength, helping to pedestal house-hold names such as Chase & Status, Sub Focus and Wilkinson. From the charts to the radio airwaves, they’ve continued their crossover success.Receiving daytime airplay and top ten positions unceasingly over the last decade, the producers have enabled Ram’s influence to seep into every corner of dance music.

Alongside support from BMG and current label manager Jim Gash, 2017 has seen Ram Records ascend to new heights. And to celebrate their twenty fifth year, Ram will be rereleasing twenty five original remastered classics from their definitive back catalogue as well as seventeen remixes, including reworks from Chase & Status, Killbox, DC Breaks, Frankee, Total Science, Benny L, Kasra and Enei, Ant Miles and Shimon, Bladerunner, DJ Marky Calyx & Teebee, Sound in Noise and Metrik. All in, it’s Ram’s most ambitious project to date.

The 25th year of Ram’s history is looking to be its most memorable yet. Both musically and through their major city UK tour dates, Ram’s versatile roster is still being pushed to new borders. Quarter of a century on and the record label is as strong as ever.

June Miller
1: Saus 2: Ups & Downs 3: Bad Brains 4: The Promise Ring

The introductions are over; June Miller are back and there's no apology. They've reappeared having been stooped in solitary confinement; presenting a handful of cuts, only to prove that this was brutally productive and they've been working hard to follow up their last release.
Bare-knuckled and still swinging, this EP sees June Miller entering round three and raising the bar yet another level. The precursor to their forthcoming album, from 'The Promise Ring' to the resounding brass of 'Saus', it certainly sets a precedent.
Rolling out first is a record featuring Mefjus, a production freight-train who's been setting the competition alight in recent months. 'Saus' is no different, with June Miller intertwining a tightly compact composition which smashes your synapses on impact. Rattling through on tracks of unhinged percussion, prepare yourself for a musical excursion which will take you through the darkest depths of drum and bass. But what else could you expect, when the talents of June Miller and Mefjus are so effortlessly combined?
Coming up next, title-track 'Ups & Downs' shows the pair's ability to completely flip an emotive vocal sample onto its back. The way they use this sound component shows undiluted ingenuity, creating a totally different impact with every switch. It begins through a wave of static, with a break that slowly leads you up a drum-paved crescendo. Then it pounds, drops and pulls you up just as quickly, creating dynamics which merge to create an electronic masterpiece.
Then we're introduced to 'Bad Brains'. There's no denying why this track has been used to intro so many sets over the past year. It winds up with an intimidating compactness, before springing you into chaos. Bludgeoning beats roll with each bar set and there's no escape from its driving onslaught. This track is instantly recognisable on first listen, alluding to June Miller's ever-growing profile.
And lastly, we have 'The Promise Ring'. Adding a sexier vibe to its predecessors, the producers have yet again showed there's a hidden depth to their musicality. Snapping, tapping and with a female vocal oozing between carefully layered constructs, it's a nod to their huge reel of ability. This last reaffirms that their debut album is sure to feature some of the most perfectly crafted, versatile music the Ram imprint has to offer.

Acts like Legion & Logam have been pivotal for bringing the Ram Records sound transatlantic. Becoming the first US act into break their renowned roster, the trio have time and time again delivered hard-driving riddims and melodic rollers for Ram’s sought after compilation series and their genre defining sister label Program. However, this time they’ve recieved their first standalone single on Ram, which is set to establish them as an even more integral part of drum & basses expansion throughout America.

From the tearaway success of ‘House of Cards’, their first single on Program, to the release of ‘Coming Home / When Stars Fall’ on Ram Records, Legion & Logam are continuing their meteoric ascent. Following the same carefully strung melodies and voice overtures which has become a signature for the production outfit, ‘Coming Home’ takes you on a heartfelt journey underpinned by its tightly knit composition. A wavering bassline pitches between each signature of eight, helping to create a more driving force perfect for the dancefloor and bolstering the mix, whilst keeping its softer touch with ‘House of Cards’ Adam Wright returning on vocals. This is your reintroduction into Legion & Logam’s sound and it’s one which will soon become a staple in sets this festival season.

On the flipside ‘When Stars Fall’ featuring Wendy Johnson follows the same vibe, with intricately layered instrumentals helping to set out a journey which flips between more percussive elements and well-orchestrated breakdowns. Each segment builds on the next until you’re once again left with a record which exemplifies the producers’ stellar song writing ability. Together both tracks help to pedestal an act whose versatility can be seen across each addition to Program, and now Ram’s, vast back catalogue. Legion & Logam’s story on Ram has only just begun – with more releases scheduled for the coming year, it’s an exciting time for US drum & bass and its growth.

Ant Miles, Andy C and Shimon, the three names which came together for the Ram Trilogy project; they are the drum & bass outfit who solidified Ram Records’ place within the history books. Their imperative ‘Molten Beats’ LP, released in 1999, spearheaded the dark roots which began to place themselves firmly into the jungle and drum & bass scene. Twenty years on its track list is still a staple within many figurehead’s DJ sets.

To celebrate two decades of its lifespan, Ram are about to reveal a package which takes a contemporary look at the album. Rene LaVice
‘Far From Perfect’
Out Now

https://ramrecords.com/download/rammlp36d

Rene LaVice’s journey continues with his third LP on formative drum & bass imprint Ram Records, a label whose history spans across two decades. After being exclusively signed, following his pivotal ‘Headlock’ release, the Canadian stalwart has remained a centrepiece of Ram’s roster and his back catalogue is nothing short of groundbreaking. The same consistency has been administered to his forthcoming ‘Far From Perfect’ package, which builds on the foundations of both ‘Insidious’ and ‘Play with Fire’ to present another look into his versatile capabilities. It proves that alongside a plethora of taste-making records and the announcement of his BBC Radio 1 residency, Rene’s career has flourished, due to the creativity which streams through his music.

Having already teased ‘Far from Perfect’ through the high octane ‘Cold Crush’ ft. Gydra, his epic vocal slammer ‘Let you Go’ ft. Jareth, the emotive allure of Faye on ‘Twilight’ as well as the heavier hitting breakdowns of singles ‘Woohoo’, ‘Sound Barrier / Squeegee’ and ‘How Do I Kill’, his forthcoming album is once again set to defy expectations; Expectations which were already set dizzyingly high.
Still unheard is Rene’s second offering with Ivy Mairi ‘Every Time’, reminiscent of their previous collaboration ‘The Calling’ which saw them receive daytime airplay through Radio 1’s A list. Isaac Evans also joins the list of vocalists alongside Rene on ‘Can’t Get Enough’, with its subdued party vibe and familiar undertones. Tracks like ‘Slappo’ and ‘Detonate’ add a harder edge and together they encompass the vast musical spectrum Rene has at his fingertips.
From newcomer to genre icon, Rene LaVice has risen through the ranks and this is unsurprising after studying his back catalogue. And ‘Far From Perfect’ will add to this legacy, whilst also becoming a defining moment within Ram Records’ history.

Within the Ram Records discography, there’s a host of artists who visit on guest appearances. That’s because Ram not only explores the sound which has made them so identifiable, but also the full spectrum that’s defined drum & bass over the past twenty five years. And for their next release, they’re joined by Original Sin for another addition to their definitive back catalogue. Despite Original Sin being renowned for his hard-driving, dancefloor tearing riddims, this time he’s delivered a more festival-focused record, featuring the vocal prowess of BB. Diamond and helping to exemplify the extensive range his production standard is able to stretch into.

BB. Diamond’s vocals add a welcome, summer-infused underpinning to ‘Lost’, Original Sin’s first ever appearance on Ram Records. It’s the perfect track to lead any stage crescendo this season, sure to become a chief selection in sets across both the UK and Europe. Showing a different dimension to Original Sin’s engineering, ‘Lost’ presents a side often not attributed to the producer and pedestals him as a multi-faceted artist. However, he still channels the heavy drum peddles which made his original productions recognisable, although amongst the pitched synth and electronic guitar strums which makes the mix weightier without taking away from its emotive breakdowns. Original Sin proves his position within the Ram history books and ‘Lost’ is a stellar addition to its trophy cabinet of releases.

So once again, it’s time to add to Ram’s huge expanse of influence, which is spearheaded by the artists who offer their music to its record collection. Alongside artists like Original Sin, they’ll continue to thrive, past a milestone enviable to even the most renowned dance music labels.
