With a 15-year long journey, DC Breaks premiere their brand new XV project in its entirety, wrapping together a decade and a half's work alongside longtime collaborators and fresh sounds from the duo. A staple of the Ram Records moniker, the pair have become synonymous with dancefloor drum & bass, continually wracking up tastemaker support across press and radio, as well as artists throughout every corner of the dance music genre. Whether it is spins on Annie Mac’s flagship Radio 1 show, or hundreds of thousands of plays on UKF’s YouTube channel, they are a production outfit which has broken ground throughout their careers.
After already teasing a host of singles across 2020, which have included ‘Back For More’, ‘Club Thug’, ‘We Never Slow Down’ ft. Eva Lazarus and ‘Raise the Bar’ alongside the lyrical prowess of MC Coppa, there’s also a huge sum of new music about to be unleashed.

The relationship between Mob Tactics and Ram has stretched throughout the years, with the duo becoming regulars amongst the label’s index. They now make another appearance on the label, after the release of their ‘Ram Rave’ exclusive and the success of their breaks-heavy single ‘LDN Bass’. Although this time, it’s for a four-track EP, their biggest body of work to date on ram and one which solidifies their connection with the imprint.From the chaotic, footwork inspired sounds of ‘Thumper’, through to the steppy note rhythms of ‘Clipped’, there’s a taste to fit every palette. With its futuristic samples, ‘Eject’ follows whilst ‘Bulldozer’ focuses on its fluctuating, bass-heavy impact. Mob Tactics now sit firmly within the Ram moniker and their ‘Eject’ EP signifies exactly why.

What is RAMlive?
Launching tonight - RAMLive is our brand-new project showcasing some of the amazing talent we have on and around the label. Initially started as a way to give good DJ's who don't produce a platform, our aim is to cultivate all talent from a grass roots level and give something back to the Drum & Bass community: doesn't matter who you are – the door is open to everyone.
Streamed via simulcast on Facebook and YouTube at the start of each month and filmed direct from the Green Room at XOYO, RAMLive will bring you a host of up-and-coming acts – plus some established names – where the focus is purely on the art of DJing. An ethos the team at RAM strongly believe in.
Talent in the studio doesn't always translate to talent on the decks, and vice versa. With RAMLive our goal is to help DJ's who don't produce, and producers who can really throw down on the decks, a chance to break through with some nurturing from the ground up. Hopefully with our help they can go onto more recognition, more bookings and continue to perform and develop after their showcase.
RAMLive kicks off with the super talented Nedd, flexing his skills across four CDJ's. Nedd was discovered after making a name for himself on Facebook with his ever popular 'Five Minute Friday' mix videos. "He's a bit of a wizard behind the decks and absolutely has it. He's got the party vibe about him and he plays across the board – liquid, neuro, jump up. You name it, he plays it. You'll be in for a treat!"
Alongside live DJ sets, RAMLive will also be covering video content such as interviews, producer sessions, live events and loads more.

Little under a year since his exclusive signing to Ram Records, an imprint handling one of the drum & bass genre’s most monumental catalogues, Skantia is slowly growing to be the imprint’s most identifiable new face. With a roster that has spearheaded the label’s expansion and its reputation as a leading figure within dance music, this isn’t an easy feat. His succession of releases after being welcomed onto the Ram moniker have enabled this ascent and following the likes of recent single ‘UV Rays’ and ‘Allure’, Skantia returns with another attention-grabbing release.
Skantia represents the younger breed of artists currently infiltrating club spaces but he’s adding his own twist on current trends. Both ‘Pheromone’ and ‘Dark Matter’ exemplify Skantia’s unique blend; a-side ‘Pheromone’ bodes together a gritty display of hollowed kicks with crackling LFOs. Meanwhile, ‘Dark Matter’ drives forward with a sense of urgency, amongst progressive clanks of percussion and punchy subs. Skantia comes back to Ram with the same intensity he injects into all his releases, alongside an output which is proving to be unstoppable.

Amongst a packed tour schedule which has seen him play stages at London’s Eastern Electrics Festival and mainstay clubs across key European cities, Skantia returns to Ram after the widespread support of his recent single ‘Lights’. With UKF hailing his music as some of the most coveted in DJ sets over the last month, two brand new tracks from Skantia are likely to whet listeners appetites. ‘UV Rays’ and ‘Allure’ follow the Skantia formula although from two different stand points; Skantia’s jagged bassline fluctuates between each note throughout ‘UV Rays’ giving a meaner reverse to the built-up snare placements cut through the crooning vocals of ‘Allure’. It’s another take on a contemporary trend although this time through a sound only Skantia can master.
Since signing exclusive to Ram, the Newcastle based producer has been amassing an audience, especially since being showcased across Andy C’s seminal XOYO series at the beginning of 2019. And with more music due to drop this year, he’s becoming a mainstay figure within the Ram roster.

The forthcoming album Different Breed from DC Breaks has been years in the making. Featuring a massive fifteen tracks and including some of their best loved singles from recent years, DC Breaks have delivered a massive feat that will ensure their place within the drum & bass anthology. From their song writing ability to their wide-ranging DJ support, the producers’ output has shone through in playlists across the dance music spectrum. From BBC Radio1’s Annie Mac, to 1xtra’s Mistajam and revered music icon Zane Lowe, they’ve received a plethora of A-list spins.
Having made multiple festival appearances across the last two years, including NASS, Arcadia Glastonbury, Beyond Wonderland and Prague’s infamous Let it Roll, they’ve become a staple on the DJ circuit. They’ve teased many album tracks out to huge crowds of drum & bass lovers, taking festival sets into vocal crescendos and sonic annihilation with their hard-hitting, no holds-barred anthems.
Including their recent collaboration with underground heavyweight Prolix for Infinity, the renowned VIP for DC Breaks’ classic Gambino, the jump-up vibes of Underground and the uplifting-melodies of Never Stop (which helped to sound track the Olympics, Formula 1 and Match of the Day) and Everybody, Different Breed also includes huge array of fresh cuts. Dipping their feet once again into the world of neuro, MC Nuklear joins them on Dead or Alive for an intimidating cut whilst Vendetta moulds their signature basslines into an even darker realm. Remember, Step Up, Organism and Hustle also jump into the fray, proving that DC Breaks discography still has its grittier side that snaps its jaws with every break.
On the other end of the spectrum sits records like Time to Kill ft. Diane Birch, who offers her climatic high-notes for a dynamic roller, as well as Moving On and No One Like You ft. Niara Scarlett, adding a soulful dash to an already impressive set of featuring artists. And lastly, SWAG 2017 makes an appearance, a rework of the track which catapulted DC Breaks onto Beatport’s number one position for a month.

Coming via the RAM demo inbox and with tracks currently getting the Andy C seal of approval - including in his Rampage 2019 set - you may not have heard of SyRan: but after their debut EP you’re definitely about to.
Not much is known about the duo, whose minimal online presence allows their music to do the talking for them. From the warped, stuttering low end of title track to the long drawn out bass and aggressive breaks of ‘Seen Savage’, the EP rounds off with a naughty VIP version of Ransome’s ‘No Laughter’.
‘Paradigm’ is the sound of two producers ready to break out from under the radar with support from the biggest label and DJ the scene has to offer. SyRan are ones to watch.
