Mount Kimbie are Dominic Maker and Kai Campos who met at university in 2008 and began making music together in a home studio in Peckham.

The duo have developed a truly unique sound whose experimental rhythms lend themselves to the fringes of dubstep, wonky and hip hop, but ooze with emotion and echoing ambient soundscapes that take the listener to an entirely different place.

Their EPs, released on Hotflush Recordings, have already been well received, with support from pioneering DJs including Mary Anne Hobbs, Scuba, Rob Booth and Ramadanman

Their debut album Crooks & Lovers was released on Hotflush in July 2010 and was met with critical acclaim.

Osunlade is a gifted and respected deep house / nu-jazz producer and DJ. Growing up in a musical environment, he knew music would rule his life. As a teenager in the 70s, he joined the cast of Sesame Street and later began producing music for the show. An ordained priest of the African religion of Ifá, Osunlade's spirituality can be heard in the tribal percussion and even Latin and Brazilian rhythm influences of his music.

Osunlade moved to Los Angeles, California, where he worked with artists such as Patti LaBelle and Freddie Jackson. After a stint there, he moved to New York, where he founded Yoruba Records. To date, he has worked with such artists as Roy Ayers, Nkemdi Amadiume, Salif Keita and Cesária Évora. In 2006, he released an album titled Aquarian Moon, in 2007, he released an album titled Elements Beyond on the revived Strictly Rhythm Records, and, in 2009, he released the album Passage.

Osunlade is a priest of the traditional Yoruba religion of Ifá. Because of his beliefs, Osunlade's music has a deep spiritual root in Yoruba traditions that are also reflected in the name of his record label, album covers, and also the titles of some of the tracks he has remixed such as "Obatala y Oduduwa" and "Yemeya."

Los Angeles producer Nosaj Thing crafts stately, ethereal synth-based instrumental hip-hop, with influences that range from Boards of Canada and DJ Shadow to Danny Elfman and Erik Satie. An L.A. native, Jason Chung was inspired at an early age by the hip-hop radio stations that the bus driver would play on his way to elementary school, and particularly by the Beat Junkies' turntablism on Power 106. In high school, while delving into the sounds of drum'n'bass and the rave scene and playing quad toms in the school drum line, he figured out how to use his father's old PC to start programming beats of his own. Further along, Chung was motivated to move in more experimental directions by the D.I.Y. rock scene at L.A.'s underground venue The Smell, where he made his live debut as Nosaj Thing in 2004. Through online and in-person networking, on message boards and, eventually, at the more beat-oriented music spot Low End Theory, Chung came into contact with likeminded Angelenos including Flying Lotus, Nobody, Daedelus, and local legends (and personal heroes) like D-Styles and Daddy Kev. Following the self-released Views/Octopus EP in 2006 (whose track "Aquarium" was later used by rapper Kid Cudi as the basis of his "Man on the Moon"), he signed with Kev's Alpha Pup imprint for his full-length debut, Drift, in 2009. Chung has also contributed beats to MCs Busdriver and Nocando, and made remixes for Flying Lotus, Daedelus, Radiohead, and Smell staples Health.

His debut album Drift was released by Alpha Pup in June 2009 to unanimous global acclaim. Pitchfork awarded an excellent 7.9 rating, calling the album "gorgeously haunted... sonic Easter Eggs for a thousand listens." The album peaked at 5 on the iTunes Electronic chart, and went all the way to 1 on Bleep and Boomkat. The success of Drift led to Nosaj Thing being featured in magazines such as Spin, Fader, XLR8R, The New Yorker, Nylon and URB. He has received regular airplay on BBC Radio 1 and Los Angeles' KCRW, while his engaging live set has made him a staple of the worldwide underground touring circuit.

Based in Los Angeles, Take (Sweatson Klank) is a composer who continues to push the boundaries of instrumental hip-hop music into new directions. After multiple successful EP's under his belt, Take finally unleashed his debut full length player in 2007, Earthtones and Concrete. This music is nothing short of an epic journey with continuously evolving collages that lead the listener down a dust covered road of bit-crushed melodies and molested jazz samples. Songs coated in emotion and rich in cinematic quality who's auras' retain the heavy burden of urban streets. The 30 years-old multi-instrumentalist/DJ/producer describes his music as "rooted in hip-hop but on a spaceship headed for a new and better place... somewhere out there". After studying music engineering and composition at The Evergreen State College in Washington, Take returned to Los Angeles to dive in and focus solely on music. In the last several years, he has composed and produced multiple 12" EPs and remixes for labels such as ButterMilk, Poobah Records, Astro Lab, Eat Concrete Records and more. He also recently completed scoring original music for New Line Cinema's King of Kong and Clint Eastwood: A Life in Film. Also, Take joined with the Dublab family for which he regularly delivers mixes and DJ sets. Take has long been at the center of an ever growing scene of talented musicians/producer/DJs in the Los Angeles area. As a co-founder of the legendary beat showcase night Sketchbook, he has fine crafted his DJ sets for the last 10 years and also adapted his own compositions for an interesting live performance. Using a laptop, synths, samplers, guitar pedals and any gadget available to re-create his music, Take's live sets strive to be more than just a guy staring at a laptop. He is also currently working with producer/keyboardist Black Monk to bring even more interaction into the live setting, aiming to eventually have an interchangeable group of musicians and producers performing these songs. Take has been fortunate enough to share the stage, whether DJing or performing live, with such artists as Prefuse 73, Mos Def, Daedelus, Caural, Nobody, Ammoncontact, Scienz of Life, Flying Lotus, Ta'raach, Edit and more.

Producer and DJ born in Madrid. He's been involved with music since very young, playing in several bands that offered a tribute to very different styles like black metal or pop. He showed a passion for synthesizers since he was a child, but it is in 1999 when electronic music captures him in an irreversible way, and he starts his fulltime dedication to music production. Since then, he has been working with several artists and bands linked to the vanguard, delivering many projects. While studying Sound Engineering he contacts Logicalnoise Records, where he finds a philosophy similar to his own and a flexible label that cares for quality proposals. Nowadays, he combines his work for advertising and documentary with electronic music and live performances.
Always open-minded to up and coming new styles and very fond of artistic vanguard, he delivers productions and sets that stand out for it's eclecticism and intensity, always trying to stimulate the audience.
Even before the launch of his first solo vinyl, the prestigious British label Global Underground spots Henry Saiz and asks him to remix the work from the German producer Phonique for a new vinyl that is about to be released.
His fist vinyl, "Mamut Ep", released by Logicalnoise, is a really elegant and sophisticated piece that illustrates very well Henry's electronic music concept: hypnotic and powerful vibes to travel in the dance floor.

SALEM is a US-midwest band from Traverse City, Sound is composed of dark ambient but with elements of shoegaze, psychedelic dubstep and trip-hop
Some of the hype about Salem is perhaps the mystery that surrounds them. Much is unknown about the artist(s). Self-promoted through their two (eerily indescribable) Myspace profiles, Salem was quickly found by the likes of 20JGF, NME and brooklynvegan. They are a band, consisting of one girl and two guys, from Chicago/Michigan/NY. Their music has been compared to a cross between The Knife and Burial. So far they've released two CD-R's on the Texas imprint, Disaro, (both out of print) and a 7" on the Canadian label, AcéPhale.

London's Samuel Wood aka Sam KDC has shown again and again that he has a knack for poignant melodies. As such, he's a natural fit for ASC's Symbol series, which encourages drum & bass producers to stretch their legs out a bit. Though the two meatier tracks on KDC's second Symbol entry are by definition drum & bass, they're ruled more by their blurry but evocative backdrops than their kick drums.
KDC's work often toes the line between saccharine and genuinely moving, and he's never been closer to the precipice than "Symbol #8.1."

Pale Sketcher is Justin Broadrick's 'electronica' side of Jesu.

It occurred to him during the writing of the last Jesu EP 'Opiate Sun' in early 2009, that Jesu, first and foremost, was intended to be a guitar oriented project. The 'electronica' side of Jesu was just an inevitable direction for him, but never satisfied with this battle between guitars and electronica with Jesu, he decided to separate the two directions - Jesu, now, and for the forseeable future, being guitar based exclusively , with Pale Sketcher being the project where he can focus and develop further, the Jesu 'electronica' sound, without need for further fusion or compromise.

Shoegaze/post-rock band from Bratislava, Slovakia:
The name was originally created as a joke involving a jam session from which a track was created. After that moment in september of 2008, it was a joke slowly transformed into a serious group effort. Growing together and discovering their own unique soundscape influenced by post-rock and shoegaze, they quickly garnered attention through several gigs in the Slovak and Czech scene and played at festivals like Creepy Teepee in Czech Republic or Wilsonic in Slovakia. Their first EP called We Love Silence, But Silence Is Awkward was released as a free download through slovak netlabel EXITlabel. After this release The Ills played their first slovak tour with band Čisté Tvary, shared stages with bands such as kolowrat, Moustache, Rosa Parks, Dawn To Come, Teapot and mainly, supported Trespassers William in Vienna, A Sunny Day in Glasgow in Košice or Stafrænn Hákon in Budapest.

To Wish Impossible Things, their debut album, also their first physical release, is called after The Cure song and combines shoegaze sound with post-rock aesthetic and emotions of live concerts. It consists of eight tunes, three of them appeared in different versions on their previous releases - We Love Silence, But Silence Is Awkward EP and Lost Trams EP. Also it's the first recording of The Ills from professional studio, even though it was mixed and mastered by their guitarist Martin Krajčír, also known as Isobutane.

VAST stands for Visual Audio Sensory Theater, and is the brainchild of Los Angeles-based singer-songwriter and musician Jon Crosby.

VAST's sound is identifiable as ambient electro-rock with considerable industrial and acoustic influences, usually made with Crosby's traditional acoustic guitar, electronic instruments and processing, drum-driven tracks, and heavy bass. In recent years, however, VAST's sound has been more identifiable with acoustic rock in releases such as April and Me and You.

The musical outfit began in rather minimalist fashion when Jon was only sixteen, with the other members of the outfit being a drum machine and a bass player.

Their real rise to fame began when a local radio station granted consistent air-time to their demo tape, after which Crosby sent demo tapes to New York City recording companies, eventually signing with Elektra Records. Thomas Froggatt, Steve Clark, and Rowan Robertson made up the hastily-assembled band along with Crosby. After touring America and releasing their first album named simply Visual Audio Sensory Theater (1998), they began work on a second album, entitled Music for People (2000). Before it was finished, Robertson left in pursuit of a solo career. After auditioning, Justin Cotta was chosen to replace him. The new quartet began another US tour. In 2001, Cotta and Clark decided to leave the band to form their own.

VAST's next album, Nude, was preceded by the online release of the unmastered demo tracks, which were grouped into separate downloads known as Turquoise and Crimson . Some of the feedback from the fans regarding the demo tracks was taken into account when choosing the tracks for Nude, which was released on February 24, 2004. Two months after the release, the band began the new tour with a new lineup. Towards the end of 2004 when it became clear working with other labels was a bad idea, Crosby started his own label, 2Blossoms Records & Media, and began selling a double CD of the Turquoise and Crimson download albums from the VAST website, mastered and with new artwork, simply entitled Turquoise & Crimson. Strong online sales indicated that a retail release would be well received, and Turquoise and Crimson was officially released May 30th, 2006.

Crosby's model of selling cheap downloads of demo tracks before the completion of the recording process was repeated with the next album, April, which was available in an 'online version' before the album was finished. The final version included five new tracks and alternate (finished) versions of the tracks carried over from the online version. The release version of April is now available as a download from the VAST site, and they plan to release a limited collectors edition CD over the summer of 2007 before the retail release date is scheduled.

In 2009, Hospital Records released "The Future Sound Of Russia" featuring Unquote & Mr Sizef with their stunning track "Hours Have No Reverse Motion" and, in the same year, "Ugly Face Of War" by Unquote arrived on Alphacut. Since then, and still aged just 20, Seva has developed his solo work discovering deep dubstep along the way. He is creating fascinating and moving soundscapes whilst delicately shifting from 130 to 170bpm. Seva aims to create music that is like "hearing the sound of your soul", none more so than his remix of Bop "Enjoy The Moment" which arrived on Med School in 2010.

Keep an eye on Unquote; his productions have already caught the attention of legendary German house DJ Tom Novy, as well as a plethora from the drum+bass community including dBridge, Instra:mental, Doc Scott, Loxy, Blu Mar Ten and ASC. Unquote's debut Med School single features the epic "Hide Your Tears Because We Are In Heaven" and "Lubov Moya", a collaboration with Molecular Structures that was premiered by Danny Byrd on his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix in August.

Autumn 2011 sees the return of Med School's celestial navigator from Saint Petersburg as he brings us his debut artist album "Reverberation Box" -- a glorious and expansive 15-track opus which is due out on 21st October.

For me definitely album of the year 2011.

Wow! Melodica Recordings is one. To celebrate this momentous event I have sent some of our favourite releases on the label to some of our favourite artists, on the label and elsewhere, for a retake, a look back, a flash forward, a new version of the original. It's helped to make the creative family feel that I was after at the start of this process to feel real, we're all swapping ideas and tunes now, helping each other to grow and surprising each other with great new sounds.
