SBTRKT - Hold On (feat.Sampha) unofficial video

SBTRKT ( http://www.sbtrkt.com/ )

SBTRKT is Aaron Jerome, a producer based in London. Graciously allowing the music to speak for itself - even going to the length of performing behind a mask every time he plays out. Having just wrapped up remixes for Basement Jaxx ('Scars') and Franz Ferdinand ('Send Him Away'), he's got the airwaves in a stir with Benji B, Mary Anne Hobbs and Gilles Peterson singing his praises. With releases on the equally anonymous Brainmath label, Ramp and the ever fun Young Turks.

5 things about SBTRKT:
1) His live show includes his main collaborator Sampha on vocals and keyboards.

2) The name came about to create a musical identity separate from any single person.
3) Much of the music being played is electronic based but some recent material is live.
4) First gig was at fabric in Room 1 at Get Familiar (amazing sound/vibe!).
5) SBTRKT is pronouced 'Subtract'.

SBTRKT sound:
The main thing are the synths, arrangement and syncopation. I tend to play around with chords or pads first, and then start applying some drums to it. Even though I guess I write 'bass music' I tend to add bass in last; rhythm and arrangement are most important for me. A lot of people seem to mention '2 step' alongside my name guess it's just because of the syncopation that genre entailed.

Sun + Music = Endless Love

Taken from KOLOAH's latest 5 tracks EP 'MOMENTS' out on SOULECTION
You can listen download and donate here :
http://soulection.bandcamp.com/album/moments

And this is what Koloah and the record label says about this release :

Here we are once again with yet another solid release. We honestly don't know how we keep dropping quality releases so consistently, but we keep discovering more and more new or unheard artists from all over the world. Whether you realize this or not, Soulection has a massive responsibility to the music world. We can't say what will happen in the future, but all we know is that we are here to stay. Vinyl/Physical releases are on the way!

Recently we tapped into the Modern-Funk vibration with Tryezz.
This time along we are sound-traveling into the future and into the hands of Koloah. This man hails all the way from Kiev, Ukraine and has the BASS sound on lock! We discovered him 1/2 a year ago and instantly knew we had to add him to the team. Moments has a nice mixture of bass, soul, and ambient resonance to it.
Enough of my words, i'll let you be the judge.
Keep doing what you love, life is short.e

"So this EP reflects my emotions, dreams, and beautiful life moments.. Each track holds a specific part of my recent experiences. The sound direction of 'Moments' contains a mixture of elements from soul and bass roots. I think dreamers will appreciate this."

TEENAGE NOTHING ( http://soundcloud.com/teenage-nothing )

Taken from the 2 track EP 'Blur / Pearl'
Free DL : http://teenagenothing.bandcamp.com/

the debut release from recently conceived New York chill-wave project 'Teenage Nothing'. Alex Mitchell is the man behind this double single release, sculptor of the beautiful beat-driven ambience of 'Blur' and soulful sample based nostalgia ridden hip-hop of its B-side 'Pearl'. Promising new releases worth keeping tabs on, fully deserved of appreciation beyond that which such an unassuming pseudonym might unfortunately suggest.

In late 2009 he released his first official single Child (Refugee) which received a lot of positive critique. On February 23rd, 2010, Emay released an EP entitled Sounds Like with dutch producer Ivan Ice. Sounds Like received positive critique while circulating the internet on various websites.

On January 18th, 2011, Emay released Mind Altering Dynamics, which is a mini LP completely produced and written by himself. The EP consists of features from Stephaloo and Lowell Boland. He released another EP on February 25th, 2011, entitled Incorruptible. This EP was also written and produced by him, and contained features from Evan Abeele, and optimist park.

GUS GUS ( http://gusgus.com/ )

GusGus, Iceland's leading techno-/soul band saw the light of day for the first time in 1995, during a break in the making of the shortcut "Pleasure". Initially GusGus was as a multimedia collective that combined sexually tinged dance music with visual arts and shorts made by the group's members.

A self-titled debut album appeared on their Kjól & Anderson imprint in conjunction with the screening of "Pleasure" and immediately caused a buzz on the scene in their native land. Eventually its euphoric grooves and sensual beats reached the demanding ears of UK's 4AD Records, which signed the band in 1996. After the release of their 4AD debut and second album "Polydistortion," the collective started touring relentlessly to a wide acclaim that has been enforced to this day.

They released their eighth album, Arabian Horse, in 2011.

Gus Gus has had a varied lineup, including:

* Birgir Þórarinsson (a.k.a. Biggi Veira or Biggo)
* Daníel Ágúst Haraldsson
* Magnús Jónsson (a.k.a. Blake)
* Sigurður Kjartansson (a.k.a. Siggi Kinski)
* Stefán Árni Þorgeirsson
* Hafdís Huld Hákonardóttir
* Emilíana Torrini Davíðsdóttir
* Urður Hákonardóttir (a.k.a. Earth)
* Magnús Guðmundsson (a.k.a. Herb Legowitz a.k.a. Buckmaster DeLaCruz, The Fox, Fuckmaster, or Herr Legowitz)
* Stephan Stephensen (a.k.a. President Bongo, Alfred More, or President Penis)
* Baldur Stefánsson

Several lineup changes have occurred, and their current incarnation consists of three members (President Bongo, Daniel Agust and Biggi Veira). After their third album, This Is Normal, the filmmaking arm of Gus Gus (Kjartansson and Árni Þorgeirsson) split off to form the production company Celebrator, now known as Arni & Kinski, which has produced award-winning advertisements and videos.[citation needed] A few former members such as Hafdís Huld, Blake, and Daníel Ágúst have gone solo, most notably though Emilíana Torrini, who provided a song for the soundtrack to Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers.

Gus Gus's music is eclectic, and although primarily classified with techno, trip-hop and house music, they have experimented with numerous other styles. They have also remixed several famous artists, including Björk, Depeche Mode, Moloko, and Sigur Rós. Added to this they released the song Desire with Ian Brown in January 2004.

ATOMISE ( http://www.atomise.cz/ )

Jarda Bednar and Gary Rostock started working together in late 2007 and quickly realised that they have a great musical rapport. Coming from opposite musical extremes they brought something new to each others... style. J Bednar has been working on electronic music for some time now. Gary...s background centres around the Manchester rock/indie scene of the 80s and 90s playing with Easterhouse, James and Steve Diggle (Buzzcocks).Gary relocated to the Cz Rep and his interest in music was rekindled by meeting new people with new ways of thinking. Gary and Jarda began collaborating after Jarda introduced G to the joys of bass sequencers that can make you feel sick and music that somehow reminded him of Kraftwerk but with a half a litre of sulphate added. To stop themselves going insane during the long suicidal winter nights they began to produce something original and well out of sync with most of what exists here: music that incorporates the beats, rhythms and undulating melodies of electronica with lyrics that are meant to show sexuality, desire, tolerance, intolerance, love, hate and the sheer intensity that these things do to the world. The idea is to present electronic music that rips your guts to pieces and also leaves you with a sense of harmony/melody and a textual discordance.

Lyrics:

I WAS LOST IN MY OWN HEAD, MY OWN HEAD
AND I GOT SCARED OF MY REFLECTION (REFLECTION)
I FOUND GOD WORKING AT A SUPERMARKET
WHEN HE SPAT AT ME IT WAS A RELIEF, A RELIEF
I DON'T DESERVE ANY AFFECTION
I'VE HURT MYSELF MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT
I WISH I COULD BREAKDOWN, BREAKDOWN
I WOKE UP
I WOKE UP IN POWDER AND BLOOD

Phantasmagoria is a male/female experimental-electronic-indie-pop duo from Detroit, Michigan. Formed in 2010 by Christopher Jarvis and Lianna Vanicelli after the fallout of their previous band (The Flower That Ate New York) they quickly developed a strong local following. After their first digital release "Spirit EP" came out in January 2011 it garnered mostly positive reviews and gained the attention of Detroit-based record label Five Three Dial Tone Records, who are set to put out their first physical release in the form of a 7" single in early 2011. They embark on their first tour in March 2011 which will take place up and down the east coast alongside local indie rock band The Kodaks.

Christopher Jarvis has been a part of bands in the past experimenting with the genres of post-hardcore/punk/indie/pop/rock as a guitar player, keyboardist, and vocalist. Most notably was the indie-pop The Flower That Ate New York (active 2005-2010). He also operates under the producer/dj pseudonym "Eugene Jarvy" for his electronic music (techno/dubstep/house) as part of the Detroit electronic music collective called DETROIT PRODUCE, with which Phantasmagoria is also associated.

Lianna Vanicelli was noticed by the band The Flower That Ate New York in 2007 for her vocal talents which won her national recognition in competition. She played guitar as well as vocals for that band until they went defunct in 2010 and from which Phantasmagoria was born.
