Opening with a rhythm that curls itself around your aural senses, prepare to be pulled into 'Lust' by its funky groove and well-chiselled hooks. The name Legion & Logam has resonated since their first output on the Program imprint. With vocal roller 'House of Cards' being picked up by some of the dance world's leading tastemakers, it saw the production trio ascend to a very critical point in their career. And the glass ceiling has been broken; it was only apt for such rising stalwarts to be given the monumental 25th release in the label's discography.
'Holding On' and 'Afterthought' also follow their exclusive signing to the RAM group… Although, it was only a matter of time before the artists were taken in by a label of that calibre.
You're taken into A-side 'Holding on' by the soulful talent of Micah Freeman, guiding you through its beautiful note arpeggios and clicking percussion. Weaving amongst the atmospheric strum of guitar and climatic synth, it's perfectly refined and demonstrates exactly why they were exclusively signed.
Following on in quick procession is 'Afterthought'. Pounding against an ethereal, humanistic sample, there's an underlay of subs which slowly builds and brays between breaks. They masterfully combine impact with a tightly woven composition; fiercely intricate yet without lacking substance, it pedestals the experience which each party brings to the table.

Championed by Annie Mac, Chase & Status, MistaJam, Sigma, and many more, DC Breaks are the next drum & bass duo tipped for huge crossover success. Released on RAM Records, 'Breathe' (feat. Dave Gibson) is the pair's forthcoming single. Currently tearing up dancefloors via major club support from Andy C, High Contrast, Teebee, Danny Byrd, and Matrix & Future Bound, 'Breathe' will be released in December ahead of their new artist album due in 2016.
All the signs of DC Breaks impending breakthrough are there: a series of huge club singles ('Faithless', 'If This Is Love'), sold out shows across the UK and Europe, with headline festival slots including Glastonbury's Arcadia stage, an overflowing, packed out tent at Bestival alongside Hudson Mohawke, plus mainstage performances at EXIT, Melt!, Dour, SW4 and Tomorrowland.
DC Breaks' remixes for the likes of Lana Del Rey, Tinie Tempah, Seinabo Sey, Lady Gaga, and Paloma Faith, have kept their (sought after) production hands in the mainstream, the flipside to having numerous Beatport genre No.1s and over 40 underground cuts to their name.
DC Breaks aka Dan Havers and Chris Page met and raved together at Edinburgh University, bonding over the Prodigy and the warm glow of a post-jungle era that had breathed new life into UK electronic music. After graduating and finding success North of the border, their first studio was housed in the basement of a Bristol city centre warehouse, a desolate location that doubled up as their home, initially without electricity or running water.
This dedication paid off and success started to show, with cuts such as the tough sci-fi sounds of 'Halo', 'Romper' and 'Taken' on Futurebound's Viper imprint and the RAM sub-label Frequency. Once they graduated to RAM itself, with cuts such as 'Shaman' and last year's battering 'Lock-In', they hit the drum & bass A-league. Before long it wasn't just the drum & bass scene paying attention. DC Breaks tunes made it onto BBC Radio via Zane Lowe, Mistajam and Annie Mac.

Teddy Killerz are in no way shy; presenting a full-frontal, immersive production standard the outfit are not afraid to turn their backs on the scene's more commercial sounds. You'll find them tearing down any dimly lit club across the globe – from the US to Russia and then back to the genre's roots in the UK, Teddy Killerz have pedestalled a sound unlike anyone else. But what can you expect from three artists who were instantly taken into the OWSLA fort, after illuminating themselves against hordes of remix competitors for Skrillex's renowned imprint.
This inevitably led to their monumental signing to one of dance music's most resounding and withstanding labels, Ram Records. And after their most recent single 'Teddynator' exploded onto the Beatport Top 100 and accomplishing the sought after number one spot, they've followed this up in quick succession. The 'Hyperspeed EP' epitomises everything which Teddy Killerz are about. Aggressive yet concise, smashing you head first through every carefully constructed break, this trio prove their versatility whilst reaffirming their position as one of the genre's most intimidating weights.
Instantly recognisable from any set over the past few months, title-track 'Hyperspeed' froths with foreboding before dropping into all-out anarchy. With a rabid forking of synth and the snap, smack and pound of drums, this is drum & bass at its most raw and undiluted. Sitting on top of clashing percussion and reversing momentarily at unpredictable intervals, there's no escaping this record's all-enveloping force.
'Quasar' on the other hand begins on a false-premise. Brought forward on eerie atmospherics, it's swiftly cut open and dissected by a quick strum of electric guitar before you're propelled at a dizzying speed. Sub bass is used as an alarm, ringing throughout the record and warning the listener of Teddy Killerz unapologetic countenance.
Of a different hue is 'Space Junk', with a jazzy intro that rolls on top of an LFO-lead bassline and jungle reminiscent breaks. Demonstrating the trio's undeniable craftsmanship, it definitely adds another dimension to the EP's track listing. Then lastly, 'Hawking Radiation' presents you with a steppy riddim that hulks with every few bars. The tempo is then amped up to 170; the perfect way to close an EP that'll leave you contemplating its enormity.

With Zane Lowe pedestalling the first glimpse into Bensley's diverse soundscape, 'Fandango' was a precursor for this forthcoming debut. 'Next Generation' is a bold move; with drum & bass being a genre which has certainly stood the test of time, newcomers have incredibly big shoes to fill. However, Bensley incorporates an innovative and incredibly intricate set of production skills to hold a title of his own.
But what can you expect from an artist who was signed after sending a single demo to revered label head Andy C. That's despite having no previous releases or having any other music available to stream online. He was somewhat of a mystery.
'Fandango' was that track. And it was premiered as a world exclusive on leading tastemaker Radio1, which followed with support from the likes of Mistajam on 1xtra, as well as DJs on both Kiss and XFM.
Already demonstrating his widespread appeal with just one track, his air of mystery is now about to be broken. He's definitely an anomaly; being only nineteen and having impressed so many people.
'Next Generation' is a 10-track journey through an impressively diverse soundscape. Whether it's half-time breakdowns or the incorporation if cross genre-pollination it shows an astounding ability which will not go unrecognised.
From the opening bars of 'Wildfire', to the softly spoken pads and atmospheric note arpeggios of 'Rain Dance', then wrapped up by aptly named closing track 'Aftermath', there's no denying Bensley's masterful artistry.
Title-track 'Next Generation' leads you by the hand with snippets of humanistic sample, flowing in and out of its construct. It's built upon by striking note progressions, a relaying of patterns which chop and change the mix. Carefully placed subs add impact, with emphasis given on each break, carrying the track forward down a steep drop with each slab of bass.
Drawing together a dizzying and fresh array of new sounds, this album indicates why Bensley is a forerunner within the new generation of music comers. Its representative of the fast paced technological setting of music production he grew up around; it also proves that Bensley is able to tap into dimensions which are often unheard of in other bodies of work.

Sprinting at an incredible speed, June Miller are inevitably coming closer to their debut album. With seven more days until this conundrum of genre cross-pollination and production ingenuity is unleashed, here's a small appetiser to prepare yourself for an eclipse, caused by June Miller's vast capabilities.
'Chain of Strength' is a starter which hits you with wave after wave of seismic bass-driven impact, instantly recognisable as the intro to Andy C's soldout Brixton performance. Lead unsuspectingly from a lulling piano intro, straight through a chasm of smashing, hardcore-reminiscent percussion and driving drums, it proves the duo's endless versatility. Alongside a building break that literally pulses with anticipation, that first drop leaves you free-falling into an explosion of tightly intricate composition. A complete sensory overload, it sets a standard matched by their new material.
Then comes 'Last Night on Earth', creepy and gradually building tension with an instantly-recognisable sample of cinematic proportions. Both tracks are equally unstoppable, not leaving you time to breathe and carrying across an ocean of sound which is relentless. After a hiatus which has left many fans sitting on the edge of their subs, Calyx & Teebee are making a dramatic return. And with this record in tow, the scene is about to bow down yet again to two of their most skilled sonic crafters.
With the huge success of their All or Nothing LP laying just over the horizon, Calyx & Teebee are about to take the title place yet again and with the full throttle forces of pounding basslines and meticulously constructed mechanics. But what else could you expect from two revered veterans of the genre, whose joint muscle has telescoped the competition in comparison.
However, it's not just their duteous workmanship and full-throttle drive that makes their music so undeniably huge. In tracks like 'A Day That Never Comes' Larry Con's vocals lead you by the hand into all-out anarchy. Revving between each break, your picked up and dropped by verbal crescendos. Angry, yet innovative and impressively intricate, Calyx & Teebee have raised expectations even higher.
And then comes 'Snakes & Ladders', a minefield of drum patterns and wavering note arpeggios. A steppy riddim which completely envelops the sense, each segment explodes on impact. Sliced and diced by invasive samples, you're unable to resist; plunging you deep into the mix, the slowly building drop pushes you into a freefall of plucky subs and jittering percussion. With such an equally impactful flipside, this sets another precedent and one which the producers exceed with every release.

2014 stands as a defining moment for the RAM Records imprint. Not only did it announce the pivotal signing of artists like Audio, Teddy Killerz and Bensley but they also oversaw the birth of compilation series RAMLife hosted by Loadstar. Even in its first form, it contained nearly every essential release the last twelve months had to offer.
But this year, RAMLife is taking you into deeper and murkier dimensions. Having already flexed his production muscle on the ricocheting, four-track 'Nil by Mouth' EP, as well as his first visual debut in the music video for 'Heads Up', it's now time for Audio to cut open and expose his musical psyche.
Including some of the most aggressive, technically adept and prominent artists the genre has to offer, including Bad Company, Optiv & BTK and Noisia to name a few, no stone goes unturned for the album's entirety. Audio also throws bass-fuelled bullets in the form of exclusives, with explosive VIPs that have yet to be released.
The brand new cut 'Foodchain' from Audio sets a theme which is prevalent throughout all 27 tracks. Uncompromising yet diligently crafted, it leads you into a freight train of musicality which holds you hostage from start to finish. Zipping through to the mechanical composition of Mefjus' 'Brainwork', all the way back to Spor's heavy-hitting 'Bullet Time' remix; this is a no holds barred exploration of the genre's darker side.

Audio brings his live personality into the whole album and accompanying mix; one that doesn't let you pause for breath. By now the names June Miller and Teddy Killerz should be no stranger to anyone in the drum and bass scene. Each production outfit are renowned for delivering some of the most cutting edge productions the scene has ever had to offer. Each artist continues to excel with their output, pushing sonic boundaries and delivering stone cold beats that cave in dancefloors world wide. 'Rock n Roll' and 'Wildlife' proves these technically minded wizards deliver two heavyweight cuts destined to destroy the clubs and festivals over the year's course.
'Rock n Roll' is up first. Diving into their metal roots and reaching for the guitars, Rock n Roll is a masterclass in drum and bass fusion. Mixing heavy metal riffs with modern era neurofunk, this track is set to unleash aural devastation. Massive, chunky distorted guitars ring loud as a half time rhythm keeps your heads bobbing throughout. Drum fills slice through the fray like machine gun fire, taking the track full speed ahead into an assault of reverberated lead stabs and crushing mid range and sub bass frequencies... Making it a serious piece of DJ artillery to contend with and unleash upon the masses.
'Wildlife' flips the script and delivers something entirely different. Taking you deep into the jungle, animals roar and growl as a mysterious ticking sets the rhythm and coaxes you in deeper towards the build. Razor sharp risers propel you full speed into an onslaught of stepped, weighted drum hits and an unearthly barrage of low end power. Cleverly placed percussion fires off like cannon fire taking the track's lead and melding together into a sinister journey.
Taking no prisoners with this release, June Miller and Teddy Killerz showcase their masterful sound design chops, bringing forward two new diverse but powerful additions to their ever growing back catalogue on Ram. Pooling together their creative energies, both parties prove they mean business and will settle for nothing less than perfection.

The landmark 100th release from Program has finally arrived; following the sampler, fan’s appetites have been whet for the full release and it packs a massive fifty-four exclusives. Including names which helped the label’s rise and those who have enabled it to stay as one of the defining underground imprints of the contemporary market, there’s a host of artists who’ve been brought in to celebrate this monumental part of its journey.
Program’s commitment to emerging producers is still displayed across the album’s track listing. However, after the sampler which included the notorious ‘Bassline Secret’ rework from Skantia, as well as the Calyx & Teebee remix of ‘House of Cards’, its first delivery was anticipated before it was announced, due to the dubplates which had already entered club spaces., This is the full album release you’ve been waiting for and it highlights another step in the progression of Ram’s sister-label, nearly a decade in the making.
So once again… It’s time to get with the Program.

Mob Tactics are no strangers to the Ram Records discography. Having already been brought on board for Andy C’s ‘Nightlife 6’ instalment and Audio’s seminal ‘Ramlife’ compilation, with their exclusives ‘Wolf Trap’ and ‘Frenzy’, they’re set to return although this time they’re offering a standalone single on the imprint. ‘Dreamworld’ and ‘Convoy’ highlight how Mob Tactics appeared on Ram’s radar; primarily because of their dancefloor appeal and indisputable production levels. The duo have become a formidable part of drum & bass sets across the global circuit and with a single on Ram within their reach, they’re looking to reinforce their stronghold.
This two-track release gives different insights into the skills Mob Tactics have at their disposal. Explosive, yet still crafted with the upmost precision, both ‘Dreamworld’ and ‘Convoy’ are intrinsically underground whilst adhering to Ram’s high-reaching standards. ‘Dreamworld’ begins as you’d expect from a Mob Tactics record – with its crashing percussive breaks and zipping, heavyweight bassline, the track’s weightiness becomes apparent between each refined layer. Next, you’re introduced to ‘Convoy’, which differs from its forerunner through its use of synth and more uplifting undertones. The range offered up on each track shows how Mob Tactics have continued to test their limits, which is why they’re a perfect addition to the Ram Records catalogue.
2018 has seen many artists make guest appearances within the label’s roster and Mob Tactics make a welcome return. Ram still dominates the scene twenty five years on from its inception.
