After a year-long hiatus, Mind Vortex return with brand new sonic cut ‘Shall We Begin’, a track that’s been played out across the club circuit repeatedly throughout the last six months and marks the start of their four track digital EP. Well known for creating dancefloor anthems which have opened sets for some of the scene’s biggest players, including Ram Records label head Andy C, Mind Vortex have once again delivered another climatic cut for the imprint.
Having dominated both the Beatport drum & bass and Radio1xtra’s charts with their subsequent releases, they’ve received support from the likes of tastemakers Zane Lowe, Mistajam, Grovverider, Bailey, Crissy Criss and DJ Hype. They’ve also become just as notorious behind the decks, making weekly DJ appearances across Europe, Australia and the US, pushing their sound into every corner of the globe. The track will also be aired as an exclusive on Andy C’s first Beats1 show debuting on 13th January.
‘Shall We Begin’ rolls out in a typical fashion, moving forward on a cinematic intro with robotic vocal samples giving you a foreboding glimpse into the direction Mind Vortex are taking you. Suddenly you’re pulled through hard-hitting beats and a rampant bassline, intermittently grinding into every drop, with crunching snare adding to the track’s weightiness. Mind Vortex doesn’t disappoint, with a comeback sure to resonate across both new and old audiences. 2017 is looking to be another ground-breaking year for the producers, with the subsequent three parts of this EP forthcoming over the next few months.

Since setting up home in London over a year ago, the 'Canuck Don of Drum and Bass' René LaVice continues to break the prototype with his own fresh take on the genre. He's quickly becoming one of the stand out names in the game, proving his unbridled versatility whilst creating a history of releases that exemplify this talent.

So far his journey has seen him move into the Radio1 A-list, support bass-behemoths The Prodigy, win fans over at Download Festival, be one of the lucky few Drum and Bass DJs to push the genre at Glastonbury Festival 2015, whilst remixing diverse heavyweights such as Nero to Rae Morris and having tracks such as 'Where My Ladies At' become one of the most revered records to date within the game. And Rene yet again proves unstoppable with this next release.

One of the most anticipated drum & bass tracks to line sets since its very first play, 'Air Force 1' rolls out first. From cyberspace to the clubs, a baying crowd has been awaiting the release of 'Air Force One' and René has now delivered. Featuring René himself on vocals and a devilish half-time step intro, this record builds into the first drop and then propels you forward into all-out anarchy… raise up your 1's people and prepare for G force bass.

Up next is 'Don't Look Down', with vocals delivered by BullySongs in a playful yet powerful record with the trademark René LaVice sonics that we all know and love. Well known for his showmanship, 'Don't Look Down' epitomises what René LaVice is about; tracks that globally detonate dance floors of any size.

René's multidimensional approach to music making whilst tapping into different tempos is duly noted and with René being no stranger to dipping into a variety of genres 'Human Safari' feels like the perfect track to complete this EP. With a brand new groove, 'Human Safari' ties the EP together with its dropped BPM, tribal riff and haunting vocals. Originally written whilst watching a documentary on a Human Safari, René once again turns electronic music on its head and delivers a warning shot on how he sees his career continuing to grow.

Originating from the bass-heavy hotbed that is London town, Frankee is one of many producers that are helping to shape drum & bass for a new era. And having already expelled himself from the tide of competition clawing for the top, he's created his own identity with nerve-twitching, eardrum encapsulating releases.
His debut 'Turning Point' EP saw him elevated above his predecessors, whilst monstrous sleuth 'Gully' became a track which resounded throughout last year, a sure-fire weapon for every dancefloor detonator.
This time, however, Frankee covers every base within the space of a four-track centrepiece. From the intricately woven feat of 'Deep Down', back to the zigzagging bassline of 'Drop it Low', every avenue is crossed to display his prestige in the world of production standards.

A fairground of musicality, 'Drop it Low' is the perfect reintroduction to Frankee's ability to flip the switch and take you into a quirkier dimension of sound. The riff is undeniably catchy; grabbing you by the shoulders and submerging you in pulses of reverberating subs. Snapping, biting and with commanding vocal samples that literally throw themselves at you, Frankee is back and proving his merit.

RAM25 - The Album - Out Now

Standing as one of the most resounding electronic music labels in history, Ram Records has finally hit its 25-year milestone. Established by Andy C and Ant Miles in 1992, the label has boldly placed itself on the forefront since its inception, acting as a foundation for the drum & bass genre and seeing through its development from the very beginning.

Once heralded as a platform for Andy C’s own productions, the imprint expandedmassively, becoming a world-renowned hub for some of the biggest drum & bass artists to ever hit the scene. The label has gone from strength to strength, helping to pedestal house-hold names such as Chase & Status, Sub Focus and Wilkinson. From the charts to the radio airwaves, they’ve continued their crossover success.Receiving daytime airplay and top ten positions unceasingly over the last decade, the producers have enabled Ram’s influence to seep into every corner of dance music.

Alongside support from BMG and current label manager Jim Gash, 2017 has seen Ram Records ascend to new heights. And to celebrate their twenty fifth year, Ram will be rereleasing twenty five original remastered classics from their definitive back catalogue as well as seventeen remixes, including reworks from Chase & Status, Killbox, DC Breaks, Frankee, Total Science, Benny L, Kasra and Enei, Ant Miles and Shimon, Bladerunner, DJ Marky Calyx & Teebee, Sound in Noise and Metrik. All in, it’s Ram’s most ambitious project to date.

The 25th year of Ram’s history is looking to be its most memorable yet. Both musically and through their major city UK tour dates, Ram’s versatile roster is still being pushed to new borders. Quarter of a century on and the record label is as strong as ever.

With ‘Slither’, Canadian Producer/DJ Bensley unleashes an epic, yet beautifully crafted and layered track that demonstrates why he has won so many plaudits since he burst onto the scene in 2014.

As Bensley says, with ‘Slither’ he challenged himself “to make a track that would sound large in the club while retaining my style musically.” Thanks to Bensley’s recent fascination with synthwave and analog/lo-fi music qualities, the end result is an explosive, euphoric and tightly woven instrumental that slinks and slithers around to create a truly unforgettable track.

Never before in RAM Records’ 25 year history has a story as unique and exciting as Bensley’s unfolded. No previous releases. No previous DJ shows. The then 19-year-old Canadian sent a demo to his favourite label in December 2013 and was signed exclusively within weeks. Embodying the spirit of ‘letting the music do all the talking’ with an added aspirational emphasis that talent really does get spotted amidst the oceanic pools of internet creativity, Bensely’s productions blew the roof off RAM’s Hornchurch HQ on first listen.

Digest Bensley’s sounds and you’ll understand just why RAM Records snapped him up so quickly. His compositions capture the essence of everything that’s exciting in drum & bass right now. Instantly resonating like you already know them, yet sounding like nothing you’ve heard before, Bensley’s productions convey a contemporary energy and dynamic that’s instantly distinctive.

Since their climatic signing in 2014, Teddy Killerz have been working on these slabs of tectonic bass with the upmost precision. Wanting a release which reflected their inclination for hard-hitting, depth defying basslines and foreboding percussion loops, this next one from the eastern European trio is formidably huge.

It is clear to see why they were quickly picked up by Skrillex's label, OWSLA, through a crowd baying competition during a remix contest. This lead to a few of their most prominent releases to date, including the remix of the certified dancefloor detonator 'Ragga Bomb' for the label owner, which Teddy Killerz switched up the tempo for.

And following this colossal feat is first track 'Teddynator'. They're unintimidated when following in the steps of their last few releases; this record is baying for blood with sharpened hooks and a drop which rolls out furiously. Pounding subs underpin a heavily imposing composition and there's no denying its power in enveloping every aural synapse pulsating with the track's bassline. For those of you unaware of who Teddy Killerz are, this is a cataclysmic introduction.

Up next, 'Endlessly' doesn't allow you to pause for breath. A trait well-known within Teddy Killerz creeping production style breaks out in between waves of a powerful riddim. A dark tinkling which breaks out like a beacon against its backdrop, the tell-tale arpeggio adds to its ominous atmospherics. Lending a complexity which is both weighty and intricately fierce.

So proceed with caution. Littered with the kind of no holds barred stylistic features which made the producers infamous and lead to their Ram Records signing, this is only a precursor for what's to come.

With the huge success of their All or Nothing LP laying in the backdrop, Calyx & Teebee are about to take the title place yet again and with the full throttle forces of pounding basslines and meticulously constructed mechanics. But what else could you expect from two revered veterans of the genre, whose joint muscle has telescoped the competition in comparison.

However, it's not just their duteous workmanship and forty years of expeirence that makes their forthcoming '1x1' album so undeniably huge. In tracks like 'Nothing Left' Larry Con's vocals lead you by the hand into all-out anarchy. Revving between each break, your picked up and dropped by verbal crescendos. Angry, yet innovative and impressively intricate, Calyx & Teebee have raised expectations even higher.

And then comes 'Stray Bullet', a minefield of drum patterns and wavering note arpeggios. A steppy riddim which completely envelops the sense, each segment explodes on impact. Sliced and diced by invasive samples, you're unable to resist; plunging you deep into the mix, the slowly building drop pushes you into a freefall of plucky subs and jittering percussion.

'Ghetto' rolls out as another new number, again featuring the vocal talents of Doctor; it's a gritty, sharp and pumping with shaking subs; a conundrum of hi-hats and aggressive drum patterns. Pounding pads take you towards a colossal break, juxtaposing perfectly against the LPs softer touches.

Having already hit the number one spot on the Beatport drum & bass chart with both singles 'A Day That Never Comes', 'Long Gone' and 'Cloud 9', it's quite clear to see why the anticipation is almost unbearable. Also including the infamous collaboration with Doctor on 'Where We Go', brand new, female-lead vocal 'track 'The Fall', half-time switch up 'False Alarm' as well as even more material to be unleashed, this LP will catapult you head first into their greatest output yet.

Having played some of the world's biggest stages, including EDC, London's SW4, Ram's seminal NYE event and UKF's Sea Dance Festival, expect another one of music's most prominent seasons filled with new music from Calyx & Teebee. '1X1' is set to make history, which isn't surprising after hitting millions of streams with their previous singles and detonating dancefloors globally.

The waiting is finally over… We're about to unleash your soundtrack for the next Music week in Miami and it's packed full of exclusives. With no less than 28 brand new cuts accompanying you onto one of the world's hottests beaches, prepare for the smooth riding riddims of Ram Records to envelop the US and beyond.

From label stalwarts Delta Heavy, to new signees Teddy Killerz and championed guests Gerra & Stone, there's a musical taste to suit every palette. Whether it's from a renowned roster artist or a relative newcomer, this compilation bursting with heaps of exclusives is the only way to launch you headfirst into the innovation drum & bass is renowned for.

Carefully finessing this album, the Ram imprint is about to drum & bass for a transatlantic journey. It's a showcase of what the genre can offer… electric vibes which pulses through its veins and cherished memories of a tempo which pulls you into the morning's early hours.

But with the Miami conference pedestalling every major genre which has made electronic music so popular, there would be a void if Ram didn't step up. And as one of the most withstanding labels from the last two decades, they've delivered with immense style. You're provided with a host of smooth basslines and hotly tantalising vocals to take you from pool-party to clubs at some of the most renowned districts.

Audio is first to deliver, crashing in at full speed and leaving no survivors with the tear out anthem which is 'Combust'. Then taking you into a web of technicality and meticulous composition is Calyx & Teebee's 'Wipe Out'. There are also a huge selection of Vips to firmly solidify why it's important to revisit tunes which are still to this day so highly sought after; leading the way is Loadstar's 'Under Pressure' Vip, which set a stunning precedent in 2014.

So, now it's time take the legacy of Hornchurch to Miami and lay down the same roots which are still prevalent throughout the UK today. And adding that to Miami's reputation, it's a match which is set to make history.

Sub Focus - 'X-Ray' (Metrik Remix)
___

Global dance music star Sub Focus has released his long-awaited remix album Reworks I.

A ten-track release, Reworks I is made up of remixes from some of the most talented artists in D&B. Kicking things off are three tracks that have recently been released as singles. First is fellow scene titan Wilkinson’s anthemic reimagining of Sub Focus’ early classic ‘Rock It’. The fast-rising Dimension then takes on ‘Timewarp’, an inspired fusion of psy-trance and D&B that’s characterised by pummelling beats and euphoric breakdowns, before seminal D&B head Culture Shock delivers a pulsating remix of the game-changing ‘Airplane’ which accentuates the infectious melody and vocal sample from the original.

Further highlights include new-school D&B duo Pola & Bryson’s stunning melodic take on ‘Follow The Light’, tech trio Data 3’s electro-inspired ‘Deep Space’ rework, Sub Focus’ own 2021 flip of his house classic ‘Could This Be Real’, before things are closed out with Metrik’s atmospheric remix of ‘X-Ray’.

One of the leading names in dance music, Sub Focus remains an influential figure in the D&B scene. Having originally made a name for himself on Ram Records in the late noughties with the iconic tracks getting the remix treatment on this LP, he went on to release multiple chart-topping singles and albums on major labels Mercury, Virgin and EMI, being awarded multiple gold and silver discs by OCC in the process.

He’s since become an international headline act performing at the likes of Glastonbury, EDC, Warehouse Project, and having sold out Brixton Academy and Printworks London as a solo act. More recently he joined forces with fellow D&B big hitter Wilkinson on their acclaimed collaborative album Portals in 2020, as well as remixing Rag’n’Bone Man and Camelphat at the start of the year.
Reworks I sees the defining D&B artist of the 21st century receiving remix treatment from some of his most talented friends and contemporaries.

Various Artists
RAM Rave EP Pt.1
RAMM368
Buy / Stream: https://ram.lnk.to/RAMRaveID

The forthcoming 'Ram Rave' EP is a celebration of the sounds which they've spearheaded for over twenty-five years, becoming one of the leading imprints and trend setters within their field. The EP’s first edition, which welcomes mainstay Ram roster artists as well as newcomer producers, will transport its audience to the dancefloors Ram has dominated throughout its evolving history.

Whether that’s at the seminal 02 Academy in Brixton, or to crowds of thousands at Let it Roll Festival and SW4 in London, Ram’s influence over the global clubbing circuit has been undeniable. And the 'Ram Rave' EP is demonstrative of that fact, with a host of sub genres catered to, exploring how Ram has cultivated the sounds which make it such a driving force within today’s dance music scene.
DC Breaks ‘Concrete Jungle’ brings epic jungle breaks through a modern-day technique, whilst Mob Tactics pedestal the classic dancefloor vibes which Ram always provide. Dr. Meaker’s ‘Funk Flicks’ is impossible to escape with its bouncing hooks and NC17 & NUSENSE slice through with their patches of tech-laced, wobbling bass on 'Come Test'. A new addition to the Ram army, Showdown’s ‘Pressure’ adds more melody infused, drum peddled movements, highlighting more of the EP’s diversity. As a collection, it drives straight into the heart of Ram and what has always been at the core of its ethos. That’s to provide music for speaker stacks - something they've delivered from the start.

Fliwo 'Look Into My Eyes'
00:05:10
TeArs
1 Ansichten · 4 Jahre vor

Program has been a home for drum & bass artists who have both already created established names for themselves as well as those who are just beginning their career. This is what has defined Program as a creative hub and for their next release Fliwo delivers a double-sided single which helps to build on this image. He’s an artist who’s already cemented himself within the genre’s far reaching corners, gracing the discographies of its many independent labels and debuting on festival stages across Europe. Forthcoming record ‘What U Say / Look Into My Eyes’ exemplifies why his music has helped push his name throughout the scene, helping him to take his next step into the Program roster. And standing as part of the central Ram Records imprint, Program certainly adds another pivotal move for Fliwo’s aspirations.

The deep seated liquid vibes prevalent throughout ‘What U Say’ aligns the listener instantly with Fliwo’s moniker. The track moves through dainty layers of strings, softly spoken pads and a melody which twists and turns throughout its spider web of notes. Fliwo offers a breath of fresh air to the standard drum & bass format, setting out the track amongst distorted vocals and a subdued breakdown. It serves as a foreword to Fliwo’s sound for Program’s audiences whilst underlining his impeccable stylistic features.

‘Look into My Eyes’ follows a similar colour wheel of musicality, flipping between its bassline which provides a thumping spine and keyed piano notes. Amongst epic instrumentals, a swathe of synth and female vocal peaks, Fliwo has dropped a monumental flipside. Both ‘What U Say’ and ‘Look into My Eyes’ give two alternative viewpoints into Fliwo’s already painstakingly developed production standard. So once again, it’s time to get with the Program. One which offers every flavour drum & bass has created since its inception.

Muffler - 'Puzzle'
ProgRAM 079

With around two decades worth of releases behind him, Finland’s Muffler is a producer with serious credentials. Adding to the list of established artists who’ve graced ProgRAM with tracks down the years, he delivers two contrasting cuts to expand its increasing catalogue on April 12th.

Kicking off his ProgRAM debut with ‘Half Light,’ it is an unrelenting assault of jungle drums and a pulsating buzz saw synth line that cuts through the noise like a machete. Awash with old school atmospherics, ‘Half Light’ is Muffler pulling his interpretation of drum & bass’s foundation sound directly into the present day.

‘Puzzle’ is a jazzy, piano driven liquid roller: tight breaks, punchy horn samples and subtle vocals drift in and out of focus. It’s one to listen to and get lost in.

‘Half Light’ and ‘Puzzle’ gives you the rough and the smooth – and is another release to signify that you need to get with the ProgRAM.

With Zane Lowe pedestalling the first glimpse into Bensley's diverse soundscape, 'Fandango' was a precursor for this forthcoming debut. 'Next Generation' is a bold move; with drum & bass being a genre which has certainly stood the test of time, newcomers have incredibly big shoes to fill. However, Bensley incorporates an innovative and incredibly intricate set of production skills to hold a title of his own.
But what can you expect from an artist who was signed after sending a single demo to revered label head Andy C. That's despite having no previous releases or having any other music available to stream online. He was somewhat of a mystery.
'Fandango' was that track. And it was premiered as a world exclusive on leading tastemaker Radio1, which followed with support from the likes of Mistajam on 1xtra, as well as DJs on both Kiss and XFM.
Already demonstrating his widespread appeal with just one track, his air of mystery is now about to be broken. He's definitely an anomaly; being only nineteen and having impressed so many people.
'Next Generation' is a 10-track journey through an impressively diverse soundscape. Whether it's half-time breakdowns or the incorporation if cross genre-pollination it shows an astounding ability which will not go unrecognised.
From the opening bars of 'Wildfire', to the softly spoken pads and atmospheric note arpeggios of 'Rain Dance', then wrapped up by aptly named closing track 'Aftermath', there's no denying Bensley's masterful artistry.
Title-track 'Next Generation' leads you by the hand with snippets of humanistic sample, flowing in and out of its construct. It's built upon by striking note progressions, a relaying of patterns which chop and change the mix. Carefully placed subs add impact, with emphasis given on each break, carrying the track forward down a steep drop with each slab of bass.
Drawing together a dizzying and fresh array of new sounds, this album indicates why Bensley is a forerunner within the new generation of music comers. Its representative of the fast paced technological setting of music production he grew up around; it also proves that Bensley is able to tap into dimensions which are often unheard of in other bodies of work.

The forthcoming album Different Breed from DC Breaks has been years in the making. Featuring a massive fifteen tracks and including some of their best loved singles from recent years, DC Breaks have delivered a massive feat that will ensure their place within the drum & bass anthology. From their song writing ability to their wide-ranging DJ support, the producers’ output has shone through in playlists across the dance music spectrum. From BBC Radio1’s Annie Mac, to 1xtra’s Mistajam and revered music icon Zane Lowe, they’ve received a plethora of A-list spins.

Having made multiple festival appearances across the last two years, including NASS, Arcadia Glastonbury, Beyond Wonderland and Prague’s infamous Let it Roll, they’ve become a staple on the DJ circuit. They’ve teased many album tracks out to huge crowds of drum & bass lovers, taking festival sets into vocal crescendos and sonic annihilation with their hard-hitting, no holds-barred anthems.
Including their recent collaboration with underground heavyweight Prolix for Infinity, the renowned VIP for DC Breaks’ classic Gambino, the jump-up vibes of Underground and the uplifting-melodies of Never Stop (which helped to sound track the Olympics, Formula 1 and Match of the Day) and Everybody, Different Breed also includes huge array of fresh cuts. Dipping their feet once again into the world of neuro, MC Nuklear joins them on Dead or Alive for an intimidating cut whilst Vendetta moulds their signature basslines into an even darker realm. Remember, Step Up, Organism and Hustle also jump into the fray, proving that DC Breaks discography still has its grittier side that snaps its jaws with every break.

On the other end of the spectrum sits records like Time to Kill ft. Diane Birch, who offers her climatic high-notes for a dynamic roller, as well as Moving On and No One Like You ft. Niara Scarlett, adding a soulful dash to an already impressive set of featuring artists. And lastly, SWAG 2017 makes an appearance, a rework of the track which catapulted DC Breaks onto Beatport’s number one position for a month.

Different Breed will stand as a testament to not just their longevity, but their experience and growth as artists throughout decades. Released on Ram Records, another resounding name within the electronic scene, their debut LP will be met with anticipation from both old and new fans. It also signifies another monumental part of their journey. A journey not looking to be over anytime soon.

The world's biggest drum & bass festival is approaching and with it comes some of the scene's most formidable imprints. With over two decades of experience, Ram has heralded the genre since its inception. And this year, they'll be taking over the insanely engineered Factory stage with a line up like no other, featuring the heaviest names across their roster.

In celebration of their stage takeover, the imprint has provided four fresh cuts to whet your appetite. In association with the festival, they've picked a host of names to provide a soundtrack to your summer.

Up first comes the long awaited release of Calyx & TeeBee's 'Get it Twisted'. Following the runaway success of their 2nd LP on Ram, this is a welcome follow up, with reverberating LFO which flicks between the vocal talents of Calyx himself. Proving they're kingpins of the game, there's no better way to reintroduce you to Ram's most resounding veterans.

Then the monumental collaboration between Rene LaVice and Current Value rolls out next. A pairing seldom seen, they bring together two varying styles that merge to create something both irrevocably huge and drivingly dynamic. With Rene's tell-tale production standard merged with the gritty, tech-infused sounds of Current Value, 'Calm the Fuck Down' is anything but a wind down.

June Miller's slice of stabbing bass 'Spin Test' is exactly what you'd expect; ingenious in its design, with pounding drum loops amongst a tightly knit composition. A duo who come with no apologies, they've been on the genre's forefront since with debut 'Robots & Romans' LP, and this next output proves they're here to stay.

Changing the tone slightly is Ram Records guest Madface, who once again teams up with Janine Small for a stunning vocal number that provides a lighter hue. Soft pads and vocal crescendos bring you deep into the mix, demonstrating Madface's ability to encapsulate the versatile sounds of the spectrum's lighter end.

So, let Ram take you into Prague this summer… As the countdown is on until this year's biggest drum & bass festival detonates subs and ear drums globally.
