DC Breaks
Raise The Bar feat. Coppa / Concrete Jungle (Skantia Remix)
RAMM380

Stream/buy: https://RAM.lnk.to/rtb-cjrmxID
___

DC Breaks move onto the second release of their “DCXV” project marking 15 years in the game. Following on from the hard-hitting ‘Club Thug’, comes the bass-shaking dance floor track ‘Raise the Bar’. Coppa provides the track’s vocal call-to-arms over heavy bass driven grooves and soaring synth patterns. On the flip Skantia delivers a tech-laced jittery remix of DC Breaks' ‘Concrete Jungle’ and gives it his own unique spin. This is just the first of many more remixes to come from the series.

"With the DCXV album, we wanted to represent the breadth of styles that DC Breaks has covered across the years, as well as refreshing some of our favourite tracks and ideas with new talent and our own VIPs. One name we wanted to work with from the outset was Skantia. He’s breathing new life into the scene with his unique sound and production techniques and he has absolutely smashed the remix for us.

We’re also delighted to be featuring Coppa on ‘Raise The Bar’. Aside from being one of the nicest guys on the circuit, and someone we’ve performed with countless times, he always sets the tone properly!”

June Miller
1: Saus 2: Ups & Downs 3: Bad Brains 4: The Promise Ring

The introductions are over; June Miller are back and there's no apology. They've reappeared having been stooped in solitary confinement; presenting a handful of cuts, only to prove that this was brutally productive and they've been working hard to follow up their last release.
Bare-knuckled and still swinging, this EP sees June Miller entering round three and raising the bar yet another level. The precursor to their forthcoming album, from 'The Promise Ring' to the resounding brass of 'Saus', it certainly sets a precedent.
Rolling out first is a record featuring Mefjus, a production freight-train who's been setting the competition alight in recent months. 'Saus' is no different, with June Miller intertwining a tightly compact composition which smashes your synapses on impact. Rattling through on tracks of unhinged percussion, prepare yourself for a musical excursion which will take you through the darkest depths of drum and bass. But what else could you expect, when the talents of June Miller and Mefjus are so effortlessly combined?
Coming up next, title-track 'Ups & Downs' shows the pair's ability to completely flip an emotive vocal sample onto its back. The way they use this sound component shows undiluted ingenuity, creating a totally different impact with every switch. It begins through a wave of static, with a break that slowly leads you up a drum-paved crescendo. Then it pounds, drops and pulls you up just as quickly, creating dynamics which merge to create an electronic masterpiece.
Then we're introduced to 'Bad Brains'. There's no denying why this track has been used to intro so many sets over the past year. It winds up with an intimidating compactness, before springing you into chaos. Bludgeoning beats roll with each bar set and there's no escape from its driving onslaught. This track is instantly recognisable on first listen, alluding to June Miller's ever-growing profile.
And lastly, we have 'The Promise Ring'. Adding a sexier vibe to its predecessors, the producers have yet again showed there's a hidden depth to their musicality. Snapping, tapping and with a female vocal oozing between carefully layered constructs, it's a nod to their huge reel of ability. This last reaffirms that their debut album is sure to feature some of the most perfectly crafted, versatile music the Ram imprint has to offer.

Raiser vs Axel Boy - Back Off

Whilst rooted in drum & bass, Raiser refuses to conform to any rules when it comes to its production - firmly moulding the music his way.

Alongside Bristol bass titan Axel Boy, the duo comes to Ram Records with ‘Back Off,’ an energetic, brash workout that traverses drum & bass, house and bass - with each producer leaving their trademark stamp on the track.

Raiser’s first outing of 2019 is one that is certain to reverberate across the electronic music spectrum – refusing to ‘Back Off.’

Acts like Legion & Logam have been pivotal for bringing the Ram Records sound transatlantic. Becoming the first US act into break their renowned roster, the trio have time and time again delivered hard-driving riddims and melodic rollers for Ram’s sought after compilation series and their genre defining sister label Program. However, this time they’ve recieved their first standalone single on Ram, which is set to establish them as an even more integral part of drum & basses expansion throughout America.

From the tearaway success of ‘House of Cards’, their first single on Program, to the release of ‘Coming Home / When Stars Fall’ on Ram Records, Legion & Logam are continuing their meteoric ascent. Following the same carefully strung melodies and voice overtures which has become a signature for the production outfit, ‘Coming Home’ takes you on a heartfelt journey underpinned by its tightly knit composition. A wavering bassline pitches between each signature of eight, helping to create a more driving force perfect for the dancefloor and bolstering the mix, whilst keeping its softer touch with ‘House of Cards’ Adam Wright returning on vocals. This is your reintroduction into Legion & Logam’s sound and it’s one which will soon become a staple in sets this festival season.

On the flipside ‘When Stars Fall’ featuring Wendy Johnson follows the same vibe, with intricately layered instrumentals helping to set out a journey which flips between more percussive elements and well-orchestrated breakdowns. Each segment builds on the next until you’re once again left with a record which exemplifies the producers’ stellar song writing ability. Together both tracks help to pedestal an act whose versatility can be seen across each addition to Program, and now Ram’s, vast back catalogue. Legion & Logam’s story on Ram has only just begun – with more releases scheduled for the coming year, it’s an exciting time for US drum & bass and its growth.

__________

The world’s seminal drum & bass festival is nearly upon us and in celebration the twenty five year strong Ram Records label are about to drop yet another compilation EP to announce their 2018 stage takeover. The track listing is as weighty as the artists they’ll be bringing along to Let it Roll this year; packed with seven new exclusives, from a range of producers both within the Ram roster as well as guests who’ve delivered a range of heaters throughout the imprint’s back catalogue, it’s sure to set the motions in place for the Let it Roll countdown.

Whether it’s the indisputably emotive formula of Sound in Noise’s offering ‘The Prophet’, or Audio’s rework of his collaboration ‘Creatures’ with MC Nuklear and Prolix, there’s a range of production styles which epitomise how diverse Ram has come to be over two decades. Freek’s ‘Human Being’ channels the artist’s tell-tale, bouncy signature whilst newcomer Kung crashes forward with the thumping bass peddles and rowdy drum sequences of ‘Eunoia’. Legion & Logam make a welcome comeback with ‘Mullholland Drive’ alongside Hamilton’s ‘Hopelessly Addicted VIP’, whilst Rene LaVice follows up his recent album ‘Far From Perfect’ with the crunching snares of ‘Poke the Bear’ with Lynx, and Subview’s record ‘Take Me Back’ rolls through with its liquid underpinning and sudden descendent into crashing breaks.

It’s an all-encompassing look at what Ram has to give this year at Let it Roll. As usual, it’s looking to be another monumental year for the world’s global gathering of drum & bass fans. Ram’s taster of what’s to come is just the beginning.

The forthcoming album Different Breed from DC Breaks has been years in the making. Featuring a massive fifteen tracks and including some of their best loved singles from recent years, DC Breaks have delivered a massive feat that will ensure their place within the drum & bass anthology. From their song writing ability to their wide-ranging DJ support, the producers’ output has shone through in playlists across the dance music spectrum. From BBC Radio1’s Annie Mac, to 1xtra’s Mistajam and revered music icon Zane Lowe, they’ve received a plethora of A-list spins.

Having made multiple festival appearances across the last two years, including NASS, Arcadia Glastonbury, Beyond Wonderland and Prague’s infamous Let it Roll, they’ve become a staple on the DJ circuit. They’ve teased many album tracks out to huge crowds of drum & bass lovers, taking festival sets into vocal crescendos and sonic annihilation with their hard-hitting, no holds-barred anthems.
Including their recent collaboration with underground heavyweight Prolix for Infinity, the renowned VIP for DC Breaks’ classic Gambino, the jump-up vibes of Underground and the uplifting-melodies of Never Stop (which helped to sound track the Olympics, Formula 1 and Match of the Day) and Everybody, Different Breed also includes huge array of fresh cuts. Dipping their feet once again into the world of neuro, MC Nuklear joins them on Dead or Alive for an intimidating cut whilst Vendetta moulds their signature basslines into an even darker realm. Remember, Step Up, Organism and Hustle also jump into the fray, proving that DC Breaks discography still has its grittier side that snaps its jaws with every break.

On the other end of the spectrum sits records like Time to Kill ft. Diane Birch, who offers her climatic high-notes for a dynamic roller, as well as Moving On and No One Like You ft. Niara Scarlett, adding a soulful dash to an already impressive set of featuring artists. And lastly, SWAG 2017 makes an appearance, a rework of the track which catapulted DC Breaks onto Beatport’s number one position for a month.

Different Breed will stand as a testament to not just their longevity, but their experience and growth as artists throughout decades. Released on Ram Records, another resounding name within the electronic scene, their debut LP will be met with anticipation from both old and new fans. It also signifies another monumental part of their journey. A journey not looking to be over anytime soon.

Delta Heavy
Space Time VIP / Take The Stairs VIP
RAMM404

08.11.2010. A day that everything changed for Ben and Simon of Delta Heavy, and the start of a journey that has taken them to all parts of the globe and to places they never thought possible. Now, 10 years on, the duo mark the occasion by revisiting the two tracks that launched their career and their extensive catalogue on one of the UK dance industry’s leading imprints, Ram Records. In their own words:"Space Time and Take The Stairs will always hold a special place in our hearts as two of the records we are most proud of, and they represent the pivotal moment when a dream became a reality. We will never forget the moment we were in the crowd with a group of our mates at a Ram night at Matter and Andy C intro-ed his set with Space Time. A cherished memory that feels ever more special given the challenging times we are all facing in 2020. These VIP versions have taken a long time to get right; we wanted to update the production to our current levels whilst giving them both a new twist that still felt respectful to the original tracks. We're excited to share them with the world as a way of thanking everyone who has helped us get to where we are today."

Sprinting at an incredible speed, June Miller are inevitably coming closer to their debut album. With seven more days until this conundrum of genre cross-pollination and production ingenuity is unleashed, here's a small appetiser to prepare yourself for an eclipse, caused by June Miller's vast capabilities.

'Chain of Strength' is a starter which hits you with wave after wave of seismic bass-driven impact, instantly recognisable as the intro to Andy C's soldout Brixton performance. Lead unsuspectingly from a lulling piano intro, straight through a chasm of smashing, hardcore-reminiscent percussion and driving drums, it proves the duo's endless versatility. Alongside a building break that literally pulses with anticipation, that first drop leaves you free-falling into an explosion of tightly intricate composition. A complete sensory overload, it sets a standard matched by their new material.

Then comes 'Last Night on Earth', creepy and gradually building tension with an instantly-recognisable sample of cinematic proportions. Both tracks are equally unstoppable, not leaving you time to breathe and carrying across an ocean of sound which is relentless. Amongst the ghost-like, clashing swords and almost untenable intensity, you're pulled through loops of incessant hi-hats, amongst palpitation-inducing drum patterns.

A single that embodies the peak of any weekend set, here's the marker for June Miller's meteoric rise. After merging some of the darkest European styles, as well as smashing genre prototypes and incorporating drum & bass' core production, the duo are switching up the game onto its next level.

Rene LaVice
‘Far From Perfect’
Out Now

https://ramrecords.com/download/rammlp36d

Rene LaVice’s journey continues with his third LP on formative drum & bass imprint Ram Records, a label whose history spans across two decades. After being exclusively signed, following his pivotal ‘Headlock’ release, the Canadian stalwart has remained a centrepiece of Ram’s roster and his back catalogue is nothing short of groundbreaking. The same consistency has been administered to his forthcoming ‘Far From Perfect’ package, which builds on the foundations of both ‘Insidious’ and ‘Play with Fire’ to present another look into his versatile capabilities. It proves that alongside a plethora of taste-making records and the announcement of his BBC Radio 1 residency, Rene’s career has flourished, due to the creativity which streams through his music.

Having already teased ‘Far from Perfect’ through the high octane ‘Cold Crush’ ft. Gydra, his epic vocal slammer ‘Let you Go’ ft. Jareth, the emotive allure of Faye on ‘Twilight’ as well as the heavier hitting breakdowns of singles ‘Woohoo’, ‘Sound Barrier / Squeegee’ and ‘How Do I Kill’, his forthcoming album is once again set to defy expectations; Expectations which were already set dizzyingly high.
Still unheard is Rene’s second offering with Ivy Mairi ‘Every Time’, reminiscent of their previous collaboration ‘The Calling’ which saw them receive daytime airplay through Radio 1’s A list. Isaac Evans also joins the list of vocalists alongside Rene on ‘Can’t Get Enough’, with its subdued party vibe and familiar undertones. Tracks like ‘Slappo’ and ‘Detonate’ add a harder edge and together they encompass the vast musical spectrum Rene has at his fingertips.
From newcomer to genre icon, Rene LaVice has risen through the ranks and this is unsurprising after studying his back catalogue. And ‘Far From Perfect’ will add to this legacy, whilst also becoming a defining moment within Ram Records’ history.

RAM25 - The Album - Out Now
https://www.ramrecords.com/download/ramm300d

Standing as one of the most resounding electronic music labels in history, Ram Records has finally hit its 25-year milestone. Established by Andy C and Ant Miles in 1992, the label has boldly placed itself on the forefront since its inception, acting as a foundation for the drum & bass genre and seeing through its development from the very beginning.

Once heralded as a platform for Andy C’s own productions, the imprint expanded massively, becoming a world-renowned hub for some of the biggest drum & bass artists to ever hit the scene. The label has gone from strength to strength, helping to pedestal house-hold names such as Chase & Status, Sub Focus and Wilkinson. From the charts to the radio airwaves, they’ve continued their crossover success.Receiving daytime airplay and top ten positions unceasingly over the last decade, the producers have enabled Ram’s influence to seep into every corner of dance music.

Alongside support from BMG and current label manager Jim Gash, 2017 has seen Ram Records ascend to new heights. And to celebrate their twenty fifth year, Ram will be rereleasing twenty five original remastered classics from their definitive back catalogue as well as seventeen remixes, including reworks from Chase & Status, Killbox, DC Breaks, Frankee, Total Science, Benny L, Kasra and Enei, Ant Miles and Shimon, Bladerunner, DJ Marky Calyx & Teebee, Sound in Noise and Metrik. All in, it’s Ram’s most ambitious project to date.

The 25th year of Ram’s history is looking to be its most memorable yet. Both musically and through their major city UK tour dates, Ram’s versatile roster is still being pushed to new borders. Quarter of a century on and the record label is as strong as ever.
