After a hiatus which has left many fans sitting on the edge of their subs, Calyx & Teebee are making a dramatic return. And with this record in tow, the scene is about to bow down yet again to two of their most skilled sonic crafters.
With the huge success of their All or Nothing LP laying just over the horizon, Calyx & Teebee are about to take the title place yet again and with the full throttle forces of pounding basslines and meticulously constructed mechanics. But what else could you expect from two revered veterans of the genre, whose joint muscle has telescoped the competition in comparison.
However, it's not just their duteous workmanship and full-throttle drive that makes their music so undeniably huge. In tracks like 'A Day That Never Comes' Larry Con's vocals lead you by the hand into all-out anarchy. Revving between each break, your picked up and dropped by verbal crescendos. Angry, yet innovative and impressively intricate, Calyx & Teebee have raised expectations even higher.
And then comes 'Snakes & Ladders', a minefield of drum patterns and wavering note arpeggios. A steppy riddim which completely envelops the sense, each segment explodes on impact. Sliced and diced by invasive samples, you're unable to resist; plunging you deep into the mix, the slowly building drop pushes you into a freefall of plucky subs and jittering percussion. With such an equally impactful flipside, this sets another precedent and one which the producers exceed with every release.

The label has gone from strength to strength, helping to pedestal house-hold names such as Chase & Status, Sub Focus and Wilkinson. From the charts to the radio airwaves, they’ve continued their crossover success.Receiving daytime airplay and top ten positions unceasingly over the last decade, the producers have enabled Ram’s influence to seep into every corner of dance music.
Alongside support from BMG and current label manager Jim Gash, 2017 has seen Ram Records ascend to new heights. And to celebrate their twenty fifth year, Ram will be rereleasing twenty five original remastered classics from their definitive back catalogue as well as seventeen remixes, including reworks from Chase & Status, Killbox, DC Breaks, Frankee, Total Science, Benny L, Kasra and Enei, Ant Miles and Shimon, Bladerunner, DJ Marky Calyx & Teebee, Sound in Noise and Metrik. DC Breaks - 'Burning' (Junk Mail Remix)
DCXV Remixes Pt.1
Following the release of their monumental ‘15 Years of DC Breaks’ project, the duo is continuing to celebrate this landmark event but unveiling three brand new remixes of classic tracks featured from their back catalogue. Introducing label mates Junk Mail, Magnetude and Levela for this forthcoming EP, who have each championed the Ram Records sound through standalone releases, they have their own take this time on the DC Breaks moniker.
Running first, Junk Mail drives his influence into ‘Burning’, with zagging, low lying bass sounds ripping through the mix. Russian-anglo pair Magnetude take centre stage next for their rework of ‘Take That’, alongside hectic blows to the synapses and shattering, metallic drums. Brighton based Levela follows suit with his ominous twist on ‘Step Up’, featuring subterranean levels and his signature driving basslines - it's an EP of different flavours and each artist represents their own sphere of influence. The remixes stand as the first package to come from the ‘DCXV’ marking and it signifies the calibre of artists DC Breaks have pulled onboard to breathe new life into their pivotal records. 2021 is adding another year to their legacy, with a host of talent drawn in for the commemoration.

2017 is the year Calyx & TeeBee went back to their roots, exorcizing the underground spirit which originally ignited their careers. Over their last three releases, they’ve shown why they’re regarded as two of the most influential figures within the tech-driven realms of drum & bass, with a combined experience of over four decades. And yet again they offer up another finely chiselled record which epitomises what the outfit came together for. Undiluted, cut throat and created for the bass heavy world of the dancefloor, Blown provides yet another sonic call-to-arms for their back catalogue and it’s a track label head Andy C has pedestalled as a set opener in recent months.
After two critically acclaimed LPs on Ram, festival slots on the likes of EDC and a host of remixes for the industry’s biggest names, from Sigma to Rag’n’Bone Man, the pair realign with their darker side with Blown. Hollowed out, pounding drums and fluctuating bass notes take you through their expert manufacturing, with a bassline that weaves in between each carefully layered segment. Wooden percussion filters through the mix, before a seismic drop pulls you into a merger of old-school and contemporary production, one which nods to the pair’s decorated history. The track is driving yet intricately coated, with pitched up synths adding a softer touch amongst the madness.
Calyx & TeeBee switch it up another notch this year, proving that their commitment to the underground is as strong as ever. Alongside Ram Records, they continue to be a definitive part of the genre’s fundamentals, providing cut after cut of unadulterated filth.

‘Look To The Skies’ is the third chapter in the expanding ‘Plates’ series. Spanning seven and a half minutes, it’s an immersive listen eschewing the short, quick mix nature of some tracks found in many DJ’s sets of late. “It’s a musical journey like it used to be”, explain the duo. “An evolving track that brings new elements to your experience with each listen.”
Expressing themselves throughout, ‘Look To The Skies’ like previous Plates releases has ‘no emphasis on A or B sides – just a varied series of tunes’ that reflect the pair’s passion for drum & bass. ‘War Dub’, ‘Cloak & Dagger’ and now ‘Look To The Skies’ show the continued development of Calyx & Teebee’s sound for a project both are excited to see evolve.

The work rate of Ed Rush and Audio’s collaborative project is intimidating even for the most technically advanced producer. Their debut self-titled EP was released at the start of 2017 and they’ve followed this definitive release with ‘Clickbait’, a track which cemented their position as dancefloor annihilators and studio geniuses. Now comes the duo’s third output, arguably one of their most fierce to date, proving why fans were right to be excited after the announcement of Killbox on renowned imprint Ram Records. Although what else can you expect from a pair who have decades worth of experience between them and who remain figureheads of the drum & bass world’s murkier waters.
‘Witchmaker’ further solidifies Killbox’s reputation as a crushing heavyweight force. A carefully manufactured introduction into chaos, ‘Witchmaker’ ramps up at a dizzying speed, firing quickly processing beat patterns and nastily peddled drums from every direction. It once again demonstrates how uncompromising the duo are. Killbox aren’t afraid to submerge you in their no-holds-barred approach, continuing their ascent pathed with every one of their nastily slick productions.
It’s time to return to the refined yet monstrous sounds of Killbox, a production outfit who are just as formidable in the studio as they are behind the decks. With a host of high-profile festival appearances this summer, as well as more stellar releases sitting in the pipeline, Ram Records’ darkest recruits continue to build on their solid foundations.

Killbox
‘Pleasure Palace’
Out Now
Ram Records
After the announcement that Ed Rush and Audio would be joining arms to present their brand new ‘Killbox’ project, their stream of releases have been relentless. Although this can only be expected from artists who have decade’s worth of experience within drum & bass, paving their own ways and even shaping the genre’s foundations. The epitomic part of their project now comes in the form of their forthcoming LP ‘Pleasure Palace’, a colossal fourteen tracks which includes a host of unreleased records reclaiming their places as contemporary pillars within the scene. They’re now set to add to their conjoined history and ‘Pleasure Palace’ offers another chapter, alongside many of their standalone, groundbreaking LPs.
Having already unveiled the likes of ‘Cousin of Zilch’, ‘Clickbait’ ft. Rymetyme, ‘Neverwhere’ and ‘Witchmaker’, which have lined many of the biggest sets over the last time twelve months, they are set to explode back onto the market with a huge selection of fresh cuts. The gritty sounds of ‘Colony’ with its manipulated bass movements open the LP, with ‘Kashmir Uzi’ continuing the assault. ‘Goldfoot’ crashes forward with the same ferocity whilst ‘Kurtz’ rolls into play with crunching LFOs. The peaking vocals of Loletta Holloways on ‘Nitty Gritty’ smashes through alongside its climatic breaks, followed by in quick succession by ‘Shoreditch Shuffle’ and ‘Delete Profile’. They both channel the same chaos but ‘Delete Profile’ expands with a more subdued air. ‘Real World’ once again ramps up the track listing with its executioners’ style, whilst ‘Soul Eject’ appeals to the pairs more old-school roots with its cranking snares. Closing the album, ‘Troll Eater’ comes fast and hard, the final climax with a lasting impression. It’s an undeniably versatile collection, projecting a side of both artists which have yet to been.
‘Pleasure Palace’ will be released on the twenty-five year strong dance imprint Ram Records and the stage has already been set. After decimating crowds at London’s definitive Arcadia show, their soundtrack is about to be unleashed on drum & bass’ wider audience.

Acclaimed Canadian musician Bensley releases his eagerly awaited sophomore album ‘Muskoka’ on RAM Records on 26 July, featuring twelve scintillating cuts that demonstrate why he is one of the most original and exciting talents in Drum & Bass.
With ‘Muskoka’, Bensley takes the listener on an exciting, immersive journey and draws upon his varied musical talents, dropping elements of jazz (as on ‘Hard Times’ and ‘One Last Chance – Remix’ which feature Bensley’s impressive alto-saxophone playing), hip-hop (‘Do It Again’ ft. Armanni Reign), plus breaks and jungle (‘Muskoka’ which incorporates clever samples to evoke sounds of animals and birdlife).
This creates an unforgettable album which is as vibrant and awe-inspiring as the landscape and nature of the part of Canada which has inspired its namesake, Muskoka.
On ‘Muskoka’ Bensley says: "‘Muskoka’ is a body of work comprised primarily of music that I wrote while at my family’s lakeside cottage in Muskoka, Ontario. This is a place where I’ve spent every summer for as long as I can remember, and that has hugely shaped the person I am today. The breath-taking wildlife, forests and lakes provide an endless source of inspiration and make Muskoka not only my favourite place to write music, but my favourite place to be.”
Bensley’s ground-breaking 2015 debut album ‘Next Generation’ won him widespread acclaim, including from Zane Lowe, MistaJam, Friction, Zeds Dead and DJ Fresh. This debut was followed by celebrated singles ‘Outsider’, ‘Tiptoe’, and ‘Slither’, plus official remixes for the likes of Flux Pavilion, Azari & III, and Camo & Krooked.

Kung - 'Drink' - Out Now - TBC
Subscribe for more - http://po.st/SubscribeRamYT
Program has prided itself in digging a little deeper into the vaults of drum & bass, moving away from the more commercial success of its sister-label Ram and delivering cut after cut of uncompromising talent. Matching the same stellar standards as Ram, but delving into the scene’s shadier corners, Program has flexed its A&R skill once again, pulling out another newcomer who’s been slowly building their nest.
Known to the world as Kung, the Spanish drum & bass producer has made himself known across the scene with support from the likes of keys players such as Jade, Billain and Misanthrop. Despite having a dedicated background in dance music, it wasn’t until 2007 that he finally took found his calling in the studio, as well as behind the decks, dropping his selections to crowds all over Europe. Whether it’s in Italy or the Netherlands, Kung has continued to offer tracks like the ones demonstrated on Program’s forthcoming EP. He’s slowly been expanding his fan base, becoming one of the most exciting newcomers to come through in recent years.
Opening the EP is his collaboration with MC Hijak, who lends his brooding, grimy vocals for a slammer which replays its heavy bassline and crunching beats from start to finish. It’s a lumbering, intimidating concoction of bass and clicking drum patterns, unafraid to let you in on Kung’s chaotic musical imagining. ‘Once’ follows the same damaging, technical conundrum of sniping percussion and moody breaks. Kung is relentless in his onslaught, although this time he creates a track which also allows lighter instrumentals to break through the mix. It proves that despite packing a punch, can also Kung diversify his sounds.
‘Honeypot’ presents itself next, with a misleading intro which drops you straight through into crafted chaos. Then comes ‘Loveish’, encompassing a more light-hearted vibe, with pitched up vocals, mewing-horns and crunching kick. Ending the five tracks is ‘Decompose’, alluding to its track title with its low end, pounding bass. Its intricate sound design demonstrates why Program enlisted him for their next release.
It’s time to get with the Program – a digital platform which finds you the best of drum & basses underbelly.

Few acts showcase drum & bass's exciting creative scope with the same skillish vibrancy as June Miller.
Since signing to Ram Records a year ago, the Dutch/Anglo duo have locked themselves away in their Utrecht HQ working on a series of mindblowing creations. Deep in sonic solitude, they've pushed themselves to whole new levels... As proved by the stunning 'Empathy' and 'Operation Ivy'. Both pivotal tracks on Andy C's explosively extensive 'Nightlife 6' opus, these cuts represent June Miller's chiselled production skills like never before.
We kick off with 'Empathy'. Igniting with a surging sense of soul, the unity of timeless synths and spellbinding vocals set a smouldering scene that's suddenly shattered into gnarled fragments when the drop lands. An overwhelming bass riff scuffs across the blistering breakbeats to create a thunderous groove. Instant riot material, this has been tried and tested by Andy C since the summer, each airing causing unparalleled commotion in its wake.
'Operation Ivy' complements the carnage perfectly. A jittering, snake-like roller with deep funk coded into every element, everything about this pristine precision piece is designed to get the floor wriggling. From the crisp digi slap bass to the strident, spacious drum dynamics and textured rhythmic stabs, this is an impeccable example of how measured and meticulous drum & bass production standards are when they're in the right hands.
Two outstanding cuts from one of the scene's most forward-thinking, accomplished acts, two representations of how far-reaching and creative drum & bass can be: June Miller have an incredible year ahead of them. And it starts right here.
