Sunchase - All Of Us (feat. Scoda Galina)

Med School are delighted to welcome Sunchase aboard with a debut 6-track EP that fuses melodic electronica and drum & bass with thoughtful percussive patterns, compelling vocals and infectious bass lines.

Downtempo title track “The Truth” opens with beautiful simplicity and a gorgeous vocal softly and unfolds into an atmospheric wave of synth-laden calm. Sunchase combines forces with Electrosoul System to create “Thing”, a warped and futuristic drum & bass excursion proving less is definitely more. “Kolo” enrols the unrivalled talents of Blu Mar Ten, culminating effortlessly into a blend of distilled musicality intertwined with complex and crisp drum patterns.

The infectious and funk-ridden bassline of “Think Of” keeps your ears guessing and feet moving, while “All Of Us” takes the listener on a thoughtful and meandering journey accompanied by Scoda Galina’s ethereal vocal talents. Last but by no means least is “Slowly”, charged with warming sub, inquisitive melodies and echoes of early Synkro releases on Med School circa 2010.

Sunchase first entered the wider drum & bass consciousness back in 2004 with the anthem “Remember Me”. He has subsequently released with many respected labels including the seminal Moving Shadow, Noisia’s Invisible imprint and has appeared on Hospital Records’ “Hospitality 2010” and “Sick Music 3” compilations. His debut album “Static Nitro” picked up Mixmag’s album of the month and received widespread critical acclaim back in 2010, more recently he featured on Lung’s debut album “Wait Less Suspense” on Med School. “The Truth” EP builds on these solid foundations, it’s refreshing and honest, exhibiting Sunchase’s versatility and unrestricted creative liberation.

Legendary Liquid is an occasional series I put together to celebrate the significant achievements of some of my favourite drum & bass artists, both well-known and upcoming... SUBSCRIBE to stay up-to-date with regular uploads!

GLXY are Jon Campbell & Tom Alston. I first heard of them in 2015 after two of their free tracks were promo'd on a YouTube channel. At the time, they were still relatively new on the scene, and yet their productions were already of a high calibre. They're well known now and are really going places with their music. The boys have previously cited Calibre, Technimatic, and Lenzman as influences, and the same talent certainly seems to run in their own veins. When they heard about this feature mix, the guys were kind enough to supply me with what was then a few unreleased tracks (Bloo, Antwerp, and the bonus 'Lose My Mind' bootleg at the end), which I'm pleased to have been able to include in this set. Enjoy ?

After an excellent performance at Drumcode Festival, Tiger Stripes comes strong with his first EP on the label since 2009.

Since 2015 Tiger Stripes has been an invaluable contributor to Drumcode’s ‘little brother’ Truesoul. As recent as March he released ‘Sound of the Bettest’ in collaboration with Riva Starr, their fresh raggainfluenced take on techno entrenched as a 2018 highlight for the label. Drawing from a wide palette of sounds to craft his groovy, personality-laden take on techno, the Swede has produced arguably his finest work yet with the ‘Insanity’ EP. ‘Baby’ is a melting pot of three decades worth of influences, from James Brown, to Northern Soul and indie pop of Ariel Pink.

The result is a stunning kaleidoscopic techno treat, that brims with rave, garage and funky house spirit. ‘Insane’ is a dynamic feast for the eardrums as trippy arpeggios, a persistent vocal and lush synth leads cascade throughout the seven-minute track. ‘Too Deep (to Bear) follows, an exhilarating slice of late-night techno before the EP concludes with ‘Dying Planet’, mixing up a potent environmental message with tough dancefloor functionalism. .

Drumcode is more than a label, it’s a movement. Founded by Adam Beyer, it stands as the highest selling and most influential imprint in techno, has spawned a radio show listened to by millions each week, and a global events brand hosting festivals and events throughout Europe, North and South America. Adam Beyer’s unwavering commitment to quality, combined with a future-focused ethos are the cornerstone of the brand’s success. His definition of techno is open-minded and expansive, while resolutely refusing to compromise on the smallest detail with every aspect of Drumcode’s output.

Adam Beyer feat. DJ Rush - Restore My Soul, Released 2021-06-11, Drumcode, DC244

Adam Beyer invites the legendary DJ Rush to make his Drumcode debut, as the pair link for a stirring maiden collaboration, 'Restore My Soul'.
The DC boss holds a deep respect for the iconic Chicago artist, the relationship stretching back 25+ years to their time touring the German techno circuit in the 90s. The title track builds dramatic tension via elastic synths that oscillate alongside Rush's vocal, taking things to heady levels. 'Control' is a thick wedge of industrial-edged rhythms, with Rush's famous vocal providing a commanding presence throughout. 'Take Me There' is stirring in composition, transitioning from crushing percussive loops to deep techno funk, before working towards a teased out crescendo as Rush's hypnotic refrain echoes in the air. A deliciously pumping DJ Rush remix of 'Restore My Soul' rounds out the package.

Almost one year in the making, Bulgaria’s outstanding techno talent lands his return to Drumcode with a four-track EP.

Timmo (aka Valeri Ivanov) doesn’t do things in half measures. Since the release of his excellent ‘System’ EP last year and ‘Muzik’, his inclusion on A-Sides Vol.6, he’s committed himself to crafting, refining and polishing a quartet of cuts inspired by the cosmic realms beyond planet earth. Titled ‘Meteorite’, its release marks 10 years since he first began producing and stakes its claim as a resounding career highlight with tracks already highlighting gigs for Adam Beyer at Tobacco Dock, Awakenings, Future Kappa Festival and Junction 2.

Beginning with the title track, the streamlined work throbs with a searing synthetic pulse. ‘Black Moon’ sees the EP land its first blow, kicking with a mixture of undulating synths and understated hoovers. ‘Spacetime’ stays true to its name delivering intergalactic techno vibes. ‘Cosmos’ concludes the work, taking us into extra-terrestrial dancefloor territory, with a barrage of trippy synth work and a melodic underbelly the makes the track both beautiful and heavy-hitting in equal measure. .
