JJ ( http://ravekommissionen.blogspot.com/ )
Swedish group jj emerged in 2009 on the Gothenburg-based record label Sincerely Yours with a particularly gratifying take on the musical preoccupations common to much of the label's roster, which includes its founders, The Tough Alliance. jj are distributed in North America by Secretly Canadian. The band consists of Joakim Benon and Elin Kastlander.
jj's take on neo-Balearic indie pop filters Air France's tropical haze, The Tough Alliance's penchant for slyly irreverent appropriation, and The Honeydrips' fragile twee pop melodicism into a beguilingly lush, gently electronic style, reminiscent of prime Saint Etienne with a smoother, beachier sheen. jj also share their label mates' propensity for mystery, favoring an artfully enigmatic presentation. Vocalist Elin Kastlander provides a distinguishing sonic hallmark in the form of her warm, lusciously smooth alto.
jj released their debut single jj n° 1 in early 2009. A couple of months later they released their debut album jj n° 2. Their third album, jj n° 3, was released on March 9, 2010.
In late 2010, jj released a mixtape called Kills. The first single from Kills, "Let Them," sampled Akon's "Right Now (Na Na Na)." The single also featured a B-side entitled "I'm The One/Money On My Mind" that samples "Intro" by The xx.

CARIBOU ( http://www.caribou.fm/ )
Caribou is Canadian Dan Snaith (b. 1978), who formerly recorded under the moniker Manitoba. Known for altering his sound with each subsequent release, he incorporates electronic psychedelia, krautrock rhythms, and breakbeat drums and creates a swirling, lush, musical panorama.
Snaith grew up in Dundas, Ontario, Canada, which gave its name to a song from his debut album Start Breaking My Heart. He studied at the University of Toronto as an undergrad, but was based in the UK for several years until he completed his Ph.D. in mathematics at the Imperial College, London in 2005.
Snaith previously recorded under the stage name "Manitoba", but changed it under threat of a lawsuit by Handsome "Dick" Manitoba, frontman for The Dictators, a punk-rocker with an appetite for litigation. Uninterested in the legal stoush, Snaith is quoted saying that he chose the new moniker "Caribou" while on an LSD trip with friends in the Canadian wilderness. He then climbed a tree and didn't come down until he finished his first album under the new moniker, which was four months later.
He has recorded five full lengths: Start Breaking My Heart, a jazzy, "folktronica" idm album, Up In Flames, the critically acclaimed shoegazer with analog synths and sometimes live, sometimes sampled drums, The Milk of Human Kindness, his krautrock-inspired album that bleeds 70's prog and 70's drugscapes, the psychedelic pop record, Andorra which landed him the prestigious 2008 Polaris Music Prize on September 29th, 2008 and Swim a disco / dance inspired album created from the idea of making dance music that sounds like being under water. A few years prior to the recording of the album, Snaith's wife gave him swimming lessons as a Christmas present, prompting him to take it up as a new hobby. This partially led to the eventual ideology behind Swim.
His eclectic live performances are renowned, in part for their use of simultaneous drummers and synchronised visuals. The live band currently consists of Dan Snaith (guitar, keyboards, vocals, drums, flutophone), Ryan Smith (guitar, keyboards), Brad Weber (drums) and John Schmersal (bass, vocals).
DJ KOZE ( http://www.djkoze.de/ )
Stefan Kozalla aka DJ Koze aka Monaco Schranze lives and works in Hamburg as a club DJ, musician (International Pony, Adolf Noise) and remixer for Chicks On Speed, Bob Sinclar, Justus Koehncke and more of the finest German bands and projects and successful producer and Kompakt recording artist.
Although DJ Koze has had a taste of pop success with his band Fischmob (straight-up Hip Hop skills, poiltical content, dry humor, crazy spoken samples, prank phone calls, etc... ), he's always been equally interested in experimenting with other forms of electronic music from ambient to break beats to wild sound collages from a myriad of musical genres.
An especially notable voyage in to uncharted musical waters, Adolf Noise (produced and performed by DJ Koze and his buddy Marcnesium) turned many a head around. Taking the artist into a deeper Electronic direction, "Adolf Noise" features a far more abstract and unusual use of samples and grooves while keeping the listener on his / her toes by incorporating liberal usage of football commentary, television show snippets, radio plays, and telephone terror with drug-delinquents.
It was this record, that made people, that were normally more into Techno or Electronica, sit up and take notice and it is now these people who are his biggest fans on dance floors between Tokyo and Hamburg - a development of successfully melting a world of musical styles with the power-blending strength of Club Culture.
The year 2002 made DJ Koze the deck wizard of Hamburg trio International Pony, whose debut album 'We Love Music' (Skint/Sony) was received to critical acclaim.
As a live DJ, Koze builds his sets on house and disco tracks and uses his well-honed Hip Hop skills blending it all together in a furious mix, making it seem that the term "House Rocking" was coined with him in mind.
The readers of Germany's trend-setting SPEX magazine correctly voted DJ Koze the DJ Of The Years for 1999 - 2004 - a well earned title, playing numerous shows all over the country and in different parts of the world.
KLUTE ( www.myspace.com/kluteuk )
Klute is the primary recording alias of Tom Withers, the respected drum and bass Producer and DJ from London, UK.
He is also the drummer, vocalist and songwriter in the English Hardcore band The Stupids and first turned to electronic production in the early 1990s, experimenting with techno before turning to Drum and Bass. He released two 12" under the Override alias in 1995-96, as well as appearing on Ninja Tune compilations. In 1998 the debut Klute LP Casual Bodies was released on the seminal Certificate 18 imprint; Fear of People followed in 2000.
In 2001 he established the label Commercial Suicide. This released his own material, including the albums Lie, Cheat & Steal (2003), No One's Listening Anymore (2005) The Emperor's New Clothes (2007) and most recently Music for prophet (2010) . All of these albums are double CDs with one drum and bass CD and another of downtempo techno and breakbeat, and received widespread acclaim in the electronic music community. The track "Time 4 Change" from No One's Listening Anymore was the last tune played on-air by John Peel.
The label has also released tracks from artists like Amit, Break, Digital, Spirit, Calibre, Hive, SKC and Chris Su, establishing itself as one of the bigger players in drum and bass.
Klute's style of drum and bass is strongly influenced by techno. It is deep and progressive, with flavours of house, dub and trance, and frequent use of vocals. Although Klute is one of the most melodic and musical producers in drum and bass, his tracks are still typically intended for the DJ and dancefloor.
As well as releasing music on his own label, Klute has releases on Hospital Records, 31 Records, Soul:R, Metalheadz and Breakbeat Science Recordings.

AZURE RAY ( www.azureraymusic.com/ )
Azure Ray is an American indie duo, consisting of musicians Maria Taylor and Orenda Fink. Azure Ray started in Athens, Georgia, in 2001 and later relocated to Omaha, Nebraska and joined the music scene there, leading to collaborations with Bright Eyes and Now It's Overhead, among others. Their sound is sparse and understated, with intimate lyrics, elements of alt-country and folk Americana, and occasional forays into minimalist electronica.
Azure Ray disbanded in 2004 and Maria and Orenda have released solo albums on Saddle Creek Records.
Azure Ray reunited in 2009 after a hiatus of more than five years and began touring again with other Saddle Creek artists as supporting members, notably Andy LeMaster of Now It's Overhead.
The duo released their new full-length album "Drawing Down the Moon" in the fall of 2010.
ARCHIVE (http://www.archiveofficial.com/)
is a music-collective, originating from London, UK, but based in Paris, France for many years where they enjoy a much bigger following. They are signed to Warner Music France.
Archive was formed by Londoners Darius Keeler and Danny Griffiths in 1994 and began as an electronica project. At the beginning, they mixed Bristol-style, Massive Attack, Portishead with rap. The first album of the band, Londinium released in 1996 (with Roya Arab and Rosko John as guest vocalists). The second album, Take my Head, (which the band hates) was released in 1999 (with a new guest vocalist Suzanne Wooder), it is much more melodic than Londinium. The first song of the album, You Make Me Feel, illustrates this change in the Archive's music. After being dropped by their label and more changes in the lineup, the band seemed to hit its stride on the third album You All Look The Same To Me (2002), featuring singer Craig Walker (formerly of Power of Dreams), which took a decided turn toward more progressive music (with some Progressive Rock influences, notably Pink Floyd whose indelible influence is audible on tracks such as 'Finding it so Hard' and 'Again'), while still maintaining electronic elements. The band saw growing popularity and critical acclaim, especially in France, Greece, Germany and Poland. After recording two more artistically -but not too commercially- successful albums, Michel Vaillant (2003) and Noise (2004), Walker left the band for reasons the band and he will not talk about. The project continued on as a Collective, with new vocalists, Pollard Berrier and Dave Peny. In May 2006 they released the album Lights with Pollard Berrier on lead vocals, who is also a member/guest member of the innovative group, "Bauchklang" - a completely vocal beat-box (Vocal Groove) group based in Vienna, Austria. Archive released a live album, entitled,Live at Paris Zenith, in May, 2007 - which was recorded on January 20th, 2007 at the sold out Zentih Arena in Paris. Rolling Stone called it, "The best live album ever made." Archive continues to tour and is working on a number of forthcoming releases in the near future.
Archive are not a trip-hop band as many people think, though this reputation was merited understandably by the soundcapes of their first release, Londinium, which is a trip-hop album. Archive are a Collective, not a band.

TELEFON TEL AVIV ( http://www.myspace.com/telefontelaviv )
Telefon Tel Aviv is a music collective based in Chicago, IL started by Josh Eustis and the late Charlie Cooper of New Orleans, Louisiana. The two originally met in high school, but did not begin working on music together until after university studies. Since 1999 Josh and Charlie had been working to cultivate their sound, based largely in electronic music, but that also showed flourishes of classical, vintage soul, ambient drone, and noise, among other things. The group continues as a mostly solo project of Josh Eustis after Charlie Cooper's death in January 2009.
In early 2000, the duo collaborated with Danny Lohner, Trent Reznor, and Alan Moulder on several remixes for Nine Inch Nails's then-to-be-released remix EP, Things Falling Apart. Shortly thereafter, Telefon Tel Aviv resumed work on their debut LP, Fahrenheit Fair Enough, for Chicago's Hefty Records, while at the same time completing the original score for the film Newport South. In 2002, the duo paired with L'Altra's Lindsay Anderson to release an EP featuring the single, Sound In A Dark Room. Work on the sophomore LP, Map of What Is Effortless, was completed in summer of 2003. On May 15th of 2007, a retrospective of their remix work for other artists was released on Hefty Records. Work on their third LP had been ongoing since late 2006 and wrapped up with the album Immolate Yourself's release on January 20th, 2009.
Over the past few years, together and separately, the duo completed production work for many other artists, including Marc Hellner/Pulseprogramming, L'Altra, The Album Leaf, Apparat, Belong, The Race, and others. They built a studio in Chicago to work on all of their projects.
Charlie Cooper passed away on Thursday 22nd January 2009, after taking an accidental overdose of sleeping pills. Josh Eustis later posted a confirmation on the band's Myspace page and the Telefon Tel Aviv website still shows an epitaph for Cooper. Josh continues to play Telefon Tel Aviv songs live as a duo with close friend Fredo Nogueira, but has said that the future of the band as regards recording new material remains uncertain.
AUDRA MAE ( http://www.myspace.com/audramae )
Audra Mae was born and raised in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. The oldest of 6 children, and brought up in music theatre, she left home at 18 to pursue a career in recording music. Audra tried College outside of Nashville, TN for a year. However, after realizing she spent little time in class and, instead, wrote songs all day, Audra Mae decided to move to Los Angeles. Two years after arriving in LA, and playing live shows, Audra Mae earned a deal with Warner Chappell Publishing. She has now lived in Los Angeles for five years and in November of 08 her cover of Bob Dylan's Forever Young was featured on the FX series Sons of Anarchy. Audra Mae's new EP is an introduction to the artist and showcases her ability to create and interpret genuinely infectious melodies and lyrics giving the listener a true sense of Audra's perspective on her experiences.

DFRNT ( http://dfrnt.co.uk/ )
Having discovered Dubstep in 2007, DFRNT jumped at the opportunity to try his hand at production. He had worked on a number of styles in the past, all developing out of his previous production work on mashups and bootlegs. Within a few weeks, he had worked up a furious remix of Dead Prez's "Hip Hop" and with a solid base of feedback, decided to work on a number of entirely original tracks.
His previous production work under other aliases, (including mixtapes, mashups, unofficial remixes and original production from chill-out stuff, to drum & bass) has seen small success on national radio stations, in podcasts, and in clubs and around the world. Most notably a Saturday night slot on XFM's 'The Rinse' show. It was not however until DFRNT's dubstep production work surfaced that things started to get serious.

THE WALTON HOAX ( http://thewaltonhoax.be/ )
The Walton Hoax is a duo from Antwerp, Belgium. A dark mix of UK Garage, Dubstep and 2-Step is molded into a type of bass-heavy sound that's aimed at live-sets as well as casual listening. It follows in the footsteps of futuristic dance producers like Mount Kimbie, Skream, Jamie Woon, James Blake and Burial. The project started in 2010 as a remix collab between the two founding artists. A few months after the project's birth, The Walton Hoax put out a first song: "Chemical Burn", constructed out of melancholy vocals and brooding, live-wire electronics that take the listener for a sizzling ride into the dark. It was supported with a videoclip, that earned them no less than 20.000 views on youtube within the very first month. This song became the title-track for the debut EP. The deep layered sounds on the 3 tracks of this album are a sonic brew of deep bass, dreamy synths, melancholy vocals and shuffled beats. The follow-up tune "Exit strategy" digs even deeper into the dark realms of existence, while the last track "Sublight" has a warmer and lighter vibe. It also features an appearance of American rising star Mimi Page. After some final edits at the Transition Studios in London, the Chemical Burn EP was put out in the summer of 2011 on !mpact Recordings. It's available in digital format and on a limited edition of 12" vinyl.
Peter Vanek (aka Peter Van Ewijk) is a singer/songwriter with many talents. Check out his creative realm at onmpulse.com.
infraBuse (aka Jeroen Vande Voorde) is an electronic music producer. His page can be found on infrabuse.com.
The concept of The Walton Hoax was formed along with the creation of the songs that are bundled in the first EP named "Chemical Burn". These were written, recorded and produced over the course of early 2011, and released in July 2011
OLLIE MACFARLANE ( http://soundcloud.com/olliemacfarlane )
Ollie Macfarlane started producing music when he was about 14, recording tracks and messing around with samples with various bands that never really made it anywhere. Now 20, Ollie has a few years' experience under his belt, producing tracks in his bedroom whilst studying for a degree in Physics at university. Moving to Bristol, UK has affected his sound greatly, with its rich sonic history and exciting nightlife; influences from the House and Drum & Bass scenes can often be heard in his music. Future Garage is an exciting new twist on an old genre which caught Ollie's attention, and he started experimenting with beats not dissimilar from Burial or Synkro, two of his favourite artists. This sound fused with Dubstep and Trance influences to create a sound which he likes to call Bristol Garage.
