How to unwind after work?

There are a number of different effects of stress on the body, so it’s important to know how to relax and how to unwind after a long day.
1. Leave work at the office. Make sure you're not getting your work out once you get home, and if you work from home make sure you're strict with your working hours so that you don't continue to work late into the night.
2. Do your chores straight away. Instead of sitting down the minute, you walk in the door, get all your house chores done so that once you start to relax you don't have to cut this short.
3. Do some exercise. Exercise reduces stress hormone levels in the body and stimulates endorphins (happy hormones), which are responsible for feelings of relaxation.
4. Relax in a warm bubble bath or warm shower. Warm water has a calming effect on the mind, soul, and body as it relaxes the muscles.
5. Read a book. Research has shown that reading a book for as little as 6 minutes can reduce stress levels.
6. Relaxation exercises. This could include breathing-focused exercises which involve simply concentrating on your breathing and taking deep long breaths. Another thing you could do is practice meditating.
