Marco Faraone - Our Freedom EP, Released 2021-05-07, Drumcode, DC242

With three EPs and an A-Sides cut to his name, Marco Faraone has been an invaluable label contributor, dating back to his Drumcode debut in 2013. The Italian remains one of scene's most versatile producers, a torchbearer of both house and techno and able to craft both with masterful ease. Coming off two albums in 2020, his inspired form rolls on throughout '21, with 'Our Freedom', his memorable fourth EP contribution to Adam Beyer's label.

'Burn Down' is an evocative vocal-led trip, made just as much for the headphones as the dancefloors of the future. Led by layers of laser-kissed riffs and a resistance-leading vocal, the title track is an emotion-charged anthem-in-the-making. 'Orbital' has bags of personality and pep, bringing the vibe to a more optimistic place, with a silky melody line and plenty of effortless groove. 'Magic Sunset' is the cream on top; the percussion pulsating and punchy, as cascades of goosebump-inducing synths unfurl beautifully throughout the six-minute jam.

Marco Faraone returns to Drumcode with some of his most inspired work ever, comprising of four tracks crossing the Techno spectrum.

Growing up Marco was surrounded by 90s Italo house and techno, which have all had a part in the current sound he produces today. Never one to stick to any individual style, he can often surprise his fans with a set pumping out peak time beats to down tempo house cuts with catchy vocals.

“With this release, I took some inspiration from listening back to some old Vitalic sounds and giving some extra power to the use of synths in each track. It’s got a festival vibe to it, which is something I wanted to achieve” - Marco

His last Drumcode EP was back in 2016, so this October he makes a welcome return showing his multiskilled productions at their full potential on this mega 4 tracker, opening with the gargantuan ‘Never Forget’. Mutating rhythmic synths hark back to the good ol’ days of BXR and the limitless talent of the Italian Techno scene in the late 90s. Boiling over in the main break this is crowd-pleasing dance music at its finest.

‘Cruiser’ is a bumpy upbeat ride with a strong melodic hook that will have the hands raised and the feet stomping. Title track ‘Lunar Eclipse’ is a dense, at times claustrophobic roller. Menacing to begin with, the addition of the main melodic motifs lifts the mood midway. ‘Take This Trip’ rounds out an incendiary EP. Lighter and more musical that the previous three, it offers a joyful, softer message.

“This is a special release for me, I wanted this to have explosive power yet the perfect balance of melodies and sounds to create a different and unique atmosphere for each track” - Marco .

"Belgium's artist Charlotte de Witte makes her debut on Amazone with 'Actually EP'. She show us her dark of side of techno with two big room raving and solid tracks called 'Actually' and 'Human Beings'.

Mexican artist Ricardo Garduno has remixed 'Human Beings' with his unique touch, a sound engraves resulting in something powerful and mental. No doubt, this is one of our favorite releases of the year on Amazone Records."

Sound Quelle, one of the most prolific and decorated contributors to our label, treats us to "Iridescent," his transcendent debut artist album. An artist whose compositional gifts traverse the electronic dance music spectrum, he is perhaps best known for his trance & progressive works, thanks to consistent radio support from Armin van Buuren and Above & Beyond in recent years. Yet, on our label, the Russian phenom has carved his niche exploring deeper sonic terrain, and it is from that wellspring that his new "Iridescent" LP has blossomed.

Consisting of a dozen mesmerizing tunes, the album evinces a strong world music influence, as the various deep and progressive-flavored cuts are imbued with hints of the exotic, including the frequent use of quasi-ethnic motifs. The album also showcases two new collaborations with Canadian singer-songwriter and recent muse Brandon Mignacca, whose achingly beautiful vocal stylings perfectly complement Sound Quelle's poignant instrumental themes. Sound Quelle's penchant for the cinematic can be experienced vis-à-vis the album's opening and concluding cuts, which again demonstrate his remarkable range.

Thus, it is our enormous honor to present "Iridescent," a full listen of which leaves the listener with a palpable sense of spiritual awe.

✏️ Lyrics
In my head like a melody
Laying back in this bed
Playing back what you said
And it’s not really helping me
Coming down from this high
It’s a dangerous ride

I’m coasting
Out-of-body floating
Lost in my emotions, I’ve been
Spinnin’ slowly

Tryna keep my head above water
Then you go and pull me under
Crazy thing, I know I’m done for
Stuck in this state of wonder

Stuck in this state of wonder, yeah
Stuck in this state of wonder

넌 날 미치게 해
Yes 빠지게 돼
I don’t care, 모든 것에 대해
전부 잊게 돼
And I just want ya right here with me

끝이
없이 우린 floating
Lost in your deep oceans
깊이 스며가 slowly

Tryna keep my head above water
Then you go and pull me under
Crazy thing, I know I’m done for
Stuck in this state of wonder

Stuck in this state of wonder, yeah
Stuck in this state of wonder

Tryna keep my head above water
Then you go and pull me under
Crazy thing, I know I’m done for
Stuck in this state of wonder

Wonder
Stuck, stuck
Stuck in this state of wonder
