The Xx - Islands (Bajo And Boss & Harris Bootleg) music video

TeArs
14 Views · 4 years ago

The Xx ( http://thexx.info/ )

The xx are a Mercury Prize-winning trio formed in 2005 in London, England. The band members are Romy Madley Croft (vocals, lead guitar), Oliver Sim (vocals, bass guitar), and Jamie Smith, known as Jamie xx (beats, MPC sampler). Second guitarist and keyboardist Baria Qureshi left the band in 2009.

Bonding over a shared love of dark, emotive 80s guitar sounds and the high-end sheen of American R&B, The xx's unique sound befits a band whose wide range of influences combine beautiful, hushed vocal duets and a brilliantly inventive use of samples and low-end frequencies to produce stark, sweet, melancholic pop.

In 17 August 2009, the group released their debut album xx on Young Turks label. The album was recorded in a small garage and produced by the band. It garnered critical acclaim and has been generally well-received, scoring an average of 86/100 based on 24 professional reviews. Also it ranked on "best of the year" lists with Rolling Stone placing it at #9 and NME placing it at #2.

Four singles were released from their debut album: "Crystalised", "Basic Space", "Islands" and "VCR".

The xx also remixed the classic song "You've Got the Love" originally written by The Source and covered by Florence + The Machine. They also added their own vocals on the song.

The group won the 2010 Mercury Prize for their album on 7th September 2010. The bookies' favourites for many of the weeks leading up to the announcement, they beat eleven other acts in a year that had a lot of strong albums from their fellow competitors. Sim said following their win "I don't know what we were expecting but we weren't expecting this." He went on to say "Thank you so much. We've had the most incredible year and it has just felt like every day we've just woken up to something incredible we just weren't expecting. It has felt just like a haze. Being here is like a moment of clarity in all that's happening."

Lucky One - Memories (unofficial video)

LUCKY ONE ( http://soundcloud.com/lucky-one )

In 2005, Luc starts his own electro-pop solo project, lucky one, trying to conciliate the best from both worlds. His music is done using real instruments, mixed up with loops, samples, software synthesizers and effects. Music production is fun, but nothing compared to live performances. Hopefully today's technology allows to really play live electronic music!

Rameses B - Echoes (feat. Veela)

TeArs
14 Views · 4 years ago

Stream/Download: http://monster.cat/spaceboyep
This one goes dark and deep, with haunting vocals by Veela that adds depth to the mysterious vibes.

Lyrics:
Why am I forgetful
When I wanna play
Little memories
From the years so far away
They've been locked where my sadness lays
In a garden that's like a tomb
It'll grow but just not for you

If those thoughts do enter your head
They'll just come in fragments
never making sense enough to beget
Any big emotion, any sore regrets
They're just echoes, you'll hear echoes
Instead

(You'll hear echoes, I hear echoes, they're just echoes, in my head)
(They're just echoes, I hear echoes, in my head)

What's this illusion
I anticipate
That the past is better than the way ahead
As I trudge through my days I wait
For a feeling that never comes
Things are different when you're young
This unique flavour of pain
Should I let it grasp me?
What if I never feel that way again?
All that carefree laughter that I can't attain
It just echoes, I hear echoes
In my head

(It just echoes, I hear echoes, In my head.)
(it just echoes, I hear echoes, In my head.)
(They're just echoes, I hear echoes, In my head.)
