I am the Riverbed
You are the dove
I'll stay on my side, and be embraced by love
is there anyone there?
I'll stop the daylight
and turn away the sun
i'll stay on my side
i'm not the only one
I'd rather be dead
you're standing strong
i'll stay on my side
I feel so alone
is anyone there?
i am the mirror that blinds as the sun
i'll stay in your reflection
and be embraced by drugs
I fear this thread
that weaves it's way around
drags me high above
and push me to the ground

Eli & Fur - Burning ft. Camden Cox [Positiva Records]

Buy/Stream Link: https://EliandFur.lnk.to/Burning
Release Date: 3rd September 2021

----

Eliza Noble and Jennifer Skillman have been a tight partnership for almost a decade as Eli & Fur. Meeting at school, they were rave buddies in their teens, hitting up clubs and DJing at friends’ parties for fun. They’ve toured the globe and have graced the stages of the biggest festivals in the world including Coachella, Tomorrowland and Glastonbury. Riding high off the back of their debut album release earlier this summer, they make their return to UK house giant Positiva Records with “Burning”. Adorned with the illustrious vocal alchemy of London-based songwriter Camden Cox, this powerhouse trio of female energy burn brightly.

----

Lyrics

It’s unpredictable
The ice we think we show
And tell
Been hiding in the cold
But even on our own
It melts

If the vision is a lie
Why do we feel so alive
It’s enough for you and I
You and I

From my conscience to your mind
There’s too much here to disguise
It’s enough for you and I
You and I
We keep burning

Exhale into the breeze
But smoke we never see
We wait
The rivers start to flow
To places that we know
We’ll stay

We are all locked up, going about our days in the confinement of our walls, limited but hopefully feeling in a safe place with friends and family. The days have all started to blur into one and when both of us catch up on the phone it’s hard to articulate what we have been doing or where the time goes. Always floating between being creative, trying to come up with inventive ideas, having long and pointless video calls with friends, deciding what to cook. And then those feelings that creep up when you loose your distractions, fear, panic. What is the world going to look like after all this?

For both of us, our saving grace is music. No matter what is going on in our houses or our heads, it soothes our souls and calms our minds. This mix is a collection of tracks to suit the moods we have been feeling, emotive beats for late night wonderment, something for the background or to take you somewhere else. Whether you are having a clear out, sat thinking about the future, the people you miss, the nights where you are able to let yourself go or enjoying a glass of wine with loved ones. Hopefully it ignites some sort of hopefulness that soon, however far away it may be, this will all be over and we will all be dancing together again.

The closing track is a powerful ambient piece that shows the immensity of who we are. We are the universe experiencing itself through the eyes and senses it has created through evolution. In essence, music is also a product of the universe, vibrations that have been formulated and ordered to make our biology respond in a certain way.
