Maddy Rotman is a photographer. Nico Geyer is a musician and leadman of a band called Nitefire. Nitefire loves U2.

Maddy and Nico on the piece:
This piece was inspired by the confusion, listlessness, and unassuredness one feels when becoming a young man - a central theme in U2's body of work. The feeling of frenzy the piece evokes was just as much a part of its creation process. With just one rainy LA afternoon to shoot, Nico and I became hellbent on taking as many photos as possible in as many locations as possible; pitching, with great success, to all of our friends, “Wanna be in a U2 video?” We snapped quickly outside strangers' houses in the Valley before we could get caught, embraced enamored onlookers in Santa Monica looking for their big break, crashed a child's birthday party at our favorite park, and saw corners of our city we may have never seen otherwise. To turn “good“ to “great”, I did it all with my best friend.

Nico on U2:
Growing up, U2 was always the music my friends’ parents listened to. U2’s Vertigo was also the first song I listened to in 2007. As I grew older, more and more of U2’s discography began to unfold before me, and more of their songs, all the way from Boy through Zooropa to All That You Can’t Leave Behind, became staples in my musical appetite. Today, I’m constantly referencing their work both musically and visually. Their tact for songwriting, their ability to meld genres, their beautifully simplistic lyricism, and their confidence are what makes them one of my favorite bands. As a friend put it once, you don’t get U2 until life gets 2 U.

Andrew Norman Wilson is an artist and director based between Europe and America. Festival screenings include Sundance, the New York Film Festival, and Rotterdam. His work is in collections such as the Museum of Modern Art New York, Whitney Museum of American Art, and The Centre Pompidou.

"Burj Al Babas is a ghost town of over 700 identical baroque-style chateaus in Mudurnu, Turkey that was supposed to be a luxury development for wealthy foreigners. However, the project went bankrupt in 2019 and remains incomplete and uninhabited to this day. Viewing pictures from afar, I was struck by how Burj al Babas looked like virtual space due to the repetition of the architecture. So I hired my favorite freestyle drone pilot (@mrsteelefpv) to shoot what looks like a flythrough animation."

"Bono has described U2’s 1991 single “The Fly” as "a crank call from Hell... but [the caller] likes it there." This contradictory experience of enjoying hell resonated with our experience at Burj Al Babas, and I think that comes through in the video."

"I'm a director who is fascinated with the multitudes of filmmaking and most importantly collaborating with other creatives. The alchemy that's created in those moments are to me the most original where nothing is preconceived, it is something bigger than all of us. My background has been predominantly in fashion so colour, shapes, how we express ourselves in what we show the outer world has always been a silent story much like this piece. The inspiration behind this piece is about what induces our memory. I always feel like commuting/travelling is when my memory runs wild because you're in this space of going from one place to the next- a portal, much like our memory. A lot of my friends live all over the place so it was easy to find a story that fit the song ""Stuck in a Moment."" For myself being stuck in a moment is a loop we tend to play off reminiscing, we can't seem to let go of that story to let another one in.

U2 has always been a household band since growing up. My father loves Ireland and had Gaelic crosses and paraphernalia all over our house which included u2 records. Funny fact- Bono and I are born on the same day and I share the same name as his wife Ali, so I feel we must be connected lol.

Sir Mick Jagger, Phil Ramone, Kanye West, Rick Rubin all got shout-outs from Bono tonight, and the near 85,000-strong audience made it a night to remember.

Stand-out moment ? Probably when one young man got invited to lap the stage for City of Blinding Lights.

The band also smashed the house record tonight at Giants Stadium. The previous attendance record was held by Pope John Paul II after his visit to the stadium in 1995.
