The forthcoming album Different Breed from DC Breaks has been years in the making. Featuring a massive fifteen tracks and including some of their best loved singles from recent years, DC Breaks have delivered a massive feat that will ensure their place within the drum & bass anthology. From their song writing ability to their wide-ranging DJ support, the producers’ output has shone through in playlists across the dance music spectrum. From BBC Radio1’s Annie Mac, to 1xtra’s Mistajam and revered music icon Zane Lowe, they’ve received a plethora of A-list spins.

Having made multiple festival appearances across the last two years, including NASS, Arcadia Glastonbury, Beyond Wonderland and Prague’s infamous Let it Roll, they’ve become a staple on the DJ circuit. They’ve teased many album tracks out to huge crowds of drum & bass lovers, taking festival sets into vocal crescendos and sonic annihilation with their hard-hitting, no holds-barred anthems.
Including their recent collaboration with underground heavyweight Prolix for Infinity, the renowned VIP for DC Breaks’ classic Gambino, the jump-up vibes of Underground and the uplifting-melodies of Never Stop (which helped to sound track the Olympics, Formula 1 and Match of the Day) and Everybody, Different Breed also includes huge array of fresh cuts. Dipping their feet once again into the world of neuro, MC Nuklear joins them on Dead or Alive for an intimidating cut whilst Vendetta moulds their signature basslines into an even darker realm. Remember, Step Up, Organism and Hustle also jump into the fray, proving that DC Breaks discography still has its grittier side that snaps its jaws with every break.

On the other end of the spectrum sits records like Time to Kill ft. Diane Birch, who offers her climatic high-notes for a dynamic roller, as well as Moving On and No One Like You ft. Niara Scarlett, adding a soulful dash to an already impressive set of featuring artists. And lastly, SWAG 2017 makes an appearance, a rework of the track which catapulted DC Breaks onto Beatport’s number one position for a month.

Different Breed will stand as a testament to not just their longevity, but their experience and growth as artists throughout decades. Released on Ram Records, another resounding name within the electronic scene, their debut LP will be met with anticipation from both old and new fans. It also signifies another monumental part of their journey. A journey not looking to be over anytime soon.

Acclaimed Canadian musician Bensley releases his eagerly awaited sophomore album ‘Muskoka’ on RAM Records on 26 July, featuring twelve scintillating cuts that demonstrate why he is one of the most original and exciting talents in Drum & Bass.

With ‘Muskoka’, Bensley takes the listener on an exciting, immersive journey and draws upon his varied musical talents, dropping elements of jazz (as on ‘Hard Times’ and ‘One Last Chance – Remix’ which feature Bensley’s impressive alto-saxophone playing), hip-hop (‘Do It Again’ ft. Armanni Reign), plus breaks and jungle (‘Muskoka’ which incorporates clever samples to evoke sounds of animals and birdlife).

This creates an unforgettable album which is as vibrant and awe-inspiring as the landscape and nature of the part of Canada which has inspired its namesake, Muskoka.

On ‘Muskoka’ Bensley says: "‘Muskoka’ is a body of work comprised primarily of music that I wrote while at my family’s lakeside cottage in Muskoka, Ontario. This is a place where I’ve spent every summer for as long as I can remember, and that has hugely shaped the person I am today. The breath-taking wildlife, forests and lakes provide an endless source of inspiration and make Muskoka not only my favourite place to write music, but my favourite place to be.”

Bensley’s ground-breaking 2015 debut album ‘Next Generation’ won him widespread acclaim, including from Zane Lowe, MistaJam, Friction, Zeds Dead and DJ Fresh. This debut was followed by celebrated singles ‘Outsider’, ‘Tiptoe’, and ‘Slither’, plus official remixes for the likes of Flux Pavilion, Azari & III, and Camo & Krooked.

2014 stands as a defining moment for the RAM Records imprint. Not only did it announce the pivotal signing of artists like Audio, Teddy Killerz and Bensley but they also oversaw the birth of compilation series RAMLife hosted by Loadstar. Even in its first form, it contained nearly every essential release the last twelve months had to offer.

But this year, RAMLife is taking you into deeper and murkier dimensions. Having already flexed his production muscle on the ricocheting, four-track 'Nil by Mouth' EP, as well as his first visual debut in the music video for 'Heads Up', it's now time for Audio to cut open and expose his musical psyche.

Including some of the most aggressive, technically adept and prominent artists the genre has to offer, including Bad Company, Optiv & BTK and Noisia to name a few, no stone goes unturned for the album's entirety. Audio also throws bass-fuelled bullets in the form of exclusives, with explosive VIPs that have yet to be released.

The brand new cut 'Foodchain' from Audio sets a theme which is prevalent throughout all 27 tracks. Uncompromising yet diligently crafted, it leads you into a freight train of musicality which holds you hostage from start to finish. Zipping through to the mechanical composition of Mefjus' 'Brainwork', all the way back to Spor's heavy-hitting 'Bullet Time' remix; this is a no holds barred exploration of the genre's darker side.

But what can you expect from the man who garners such an explosive reputation across the club circuit? Audio brings his live personality into the whole album and accompanying mix; one that doesn't let you pause for breath. They're a collection of tracks that'll leave an atomic bomb sized impression inside the community, which further solidifies his reputation as an ever- growing, unstoppable goliath.

Skantia - 'Cluster'

Skantia – ‘Cluster’

The journey of Skantia’s signing to RAM and subsequent debut single is quite the whirlwind story. Initially picking up his tracks for release on ProgRAM – culminating in the Unorthodox EP earlier this year – his graduation has been swift. ‘Cluster’ is further proof of why.

Already a firm favourite in Andy C’s sets during his XOYO residency and beyond, ‘Cluster’ packs some serious punch: a growling, drawn-out lead bass provides raw depth while Skantia’s energetic, edit-laden drum patterns give it a stripped back, roller feel.

This is just the beginning for the Newcastle native on his journey as part of the RAM family and there’s more to come; including a cheeky remix which has turned into one of the biggest dubs of 2019 and been the subject of much internet discussion since. But right now, ‘Cluster’ is the perfect accompaniment as Skantia to steps into the limelight.

Sprinting at an incredible speed, June Miller are inevitably coming closer to their debut album. With seven more days until this conundrum of genre cross-pollination and production ingenuity is unleashed, here's a small appetiser to prepare yourself for an eclipse, caused by June Miller's vast capabilities.

'Chain of Strength' is a starter which hits you with wave after wave of seismic bass-driven impact, instantly recognisable as the intro to Andy C's soldout Brixton performance. Lead unsuspectingly from a lulling piano intro, straight through a chasm of smashing, hardcore-reminiscent percussion and driving drums, it proves the duo's endless versatility. Alongside a building break that literally pulses with anticipation, that first drop leaves you free-falling into an explosion of tightly intricate composition. A complete sensory overload, it sets a standard matched by their new material.

Then comes 'Last Night on Earth', creepy and gradually building tension with an instantly-recognisable sample of cinematic proportions. Both tracks are equally unstoppable, not leaving you time to breathe and carrying across an ocean of sound which is relentless. Amongst the ghost-like, clashing swords and almost untenable intensity, you're pulled through loops of incessant hi-hats, amongst palpitation-inducing drum patterns.

A single that embodies the peak of any weekend set, here's the marker for June Miller's meteoric rise. After merging some of the darkest European styles, as well as smashing genre prototypes and incorporating drum & bass' core production, the duo are switching up the game onto its next level.

#RamRewind : Concept 2 - Cause N Effect

Andy C and Ant Miles are names which resound not only within the RAM roster, but also across the genre's history. And this next one from RAM rewind epitomises why they made such an impact on the industry and why they still carry its torch today.
'Cause and effect 'is imposing, holding its own over a decade after it was first released. There's no mistaking those drum patterns and plucky percussion, a tell-tale sign of the times and elements which have been carried forward into today's compositions.

Molten Beats: The Remasters
RAMMLP3DRM

Stream / Buy: https://RAM.lnk.to/MoltenBeatsID

Ant Miles, Andy C and Shimon, the three names which came together for the Ram Trilogy project; they are the drum & bass outfit who solidified Ram Records’ place within the history books. Their imperative ‘Molten Beats’ LP, released in 1999, spearheaded the dark roots which began to place themselves firmly into the jungle and drum & bass scene. Twenty years on its track list is still a staple within many figurehead’s DJ sets.

To celebrate two decades of its lifespan, Ram are about to reveal a package which takes a contemporary look at the album. With the first part being released on the same day the LP was dropped twenty years prior, it’s a remastered version of the album which breathes new life into the original tracks.

Killbox
‘Pleasure Palace’
Out Now
Ram Records

After the announcement that Ed Rush and Audio would be joining arms to present their brand new ‘Killbox’ project, their stream of releases have been relentless. Although this can only be expected from artists who have decade’s worth of experience within drum & bass, paving their own ways and even shaping the genre’s foundations. The epitomic part of their project now comes in the form of their forthcoming LP ‘Pleasure Palace’, a colossal fourteen tracks which includes a host of unreleased records reclaiming their places as contemporary pillars within the scene. They’re now set to add to their conjoined history and ‘Pleasure Palace’ offers another chapter, alongside many of their standalone, groundbreaking LPs.

Having already unveiled the likes of ‘Cousin of Zilch’, ‘Clickbait’ ft. Rymetyme, ‘Neverwhere’ and ‘Witchmaker’, which have lined many of the biggest sets over the last time twelve months, they are set to explode back onto the market with a huge selection of fresh cuts. The gritty sounds of ‘Colony’ with its manipulated bass movements open the LP, with ‘Kashmir Uzi’ continuing the assault. ‘Goldfoot’ crashes forward with the same ferocity whilst ‘Kurtz’ rolls into play with crunching LFOs. The peaking vocals of Loletta Holloways on ‘Nitty Gritty’ smashes through alongside its climatic breaks, followed by in quick succession by ‘Shoreditch Shuffle’ and ‘Delete Profile’. They both channel the same chaos but ‘Delete Profile’ expands with a more subdued air. ‘Real World’ once again ramps up the track listing with its executioners’ style, whilst ‘Soul Eject’ appeals to the pairs more old-school roots with its cranking snares. Closing the album, ‘Troll Eater’ comes fast and hard, the final climax with a lasting impression. It’s an undeniably versatile collection, projecting a side of both artists which have yet to been.

‘Pleasure Palace’ will be released on the twenty-five year strong dance imprint Ram Records and the stage has already been set. After decimating crowds at London’s definitive Arcadia show, their soundtrack is about to be unleashed on drum & bass’ wider audience.

For PROGRAM’s next release we welcome a true pillar of the tech-driven side of drum & bass to the label, with SKYNET delivering a pair of ruthlessly effective tracks - STUCK IN MIND and UNDERGROUND - as a 2 track single. Richly laced with the depth of technique and a level of musicality that only comes with an extensive talent and years of experience in audio manipulation, this is a release that thrusts Skynet back to the forefront of the scene with the taste-defining Program label cutting that path.

‘Stuck in Mind’’s haunting intro, with its verdant Asian vocal and fluorescent pads incepts a complex nocturnal cyberpunk vision, cut through by a lean undulating reese that ushers in a roller of technological purity that’s at once both nostalgic and cutting edge.

‘Underground’ wears sleek racing stripes proudly, with an understated but insistent intermittent synthline setting the tension, ridden by a paranoid posthuman vocal sample that beckons the subdued power of a masterfully restrained, but complex and heavy drop in Skynet’s signature style.

Skynet is an artist who has had an indelible effect on the drum & bass genre, a creator involved in forging the very foundations of tech-step, with past seminal releases to his name such as his Voyager LP, that retain a significant place in the history of this sound. With his return to the scene and development of new material that brings his sound back to the surgical edge of audio technology and dancefloor manipulation, it’s firm proof that timelessness is truly timeless. So once again, it’s time to get with the Program.

Standing as one of the most resounding electronic music labels in history, Ram Records has finally hit its 25-year milestone. Established by Andy C and Ant Miles in 1992, the label has boldly placed itself on the forefront since its inception, acting as a foundation for the drum & bass genre and seeing through its development from the very beginning.

Once heralded as a platform for Andy C’s own productions, the imprint expandedmassively, becoming a world-renowned hub for some of the biggest drum & bass artists to ever hit the scene. The label has gone from strength to strength, helping to pedestal house-hold names such as Chase & Status, Sub Focus and Wilkinson. From the charts to the radio airwaves, they’ve continued their crossover success.Receiving daytime airplay and top ten positions unceasingly over the last decade, the producers have enabled Ram’s influence to seep into every corner of dance music.

Alongside support from BMG and current label manager Jim Gash, 2017 has seen Ram Records ascend to new heights. And to celebrate their twenty fifth year, Ram will be rereleasing twenty five original remastered classics from their definitive back catalogue as well as seventeen remixes, including reworks from Chase & Status, Killbox, DC Breaks, Frankee, Total Science, Benny L, Kasra and Enei, Ant Miles and Shimon, Bladerunner, DJ Marky Calyx & Teebee, Sound in Noise and Metrik. All in, it’s Ram’s most ambitious project to date.

The 25th year of Ram’s history is looking to be its most memorable yet. Both musically and through their major city UK tour dates, Ram’s versatile roster is still being pushed to new borders. Quarter of a century on and the record label is as strong as ever.
