HIATUS ( www.hiatusmusic.net/ )
Cyrus Shahrad began recording as Hiatus in 2003, when an American friend mailed him a copy of Reason and the necessary gadgets to run instruments directly into his computer. The following twelve months saw the independent release of three EPs -- each individual CD burned in iTunes, tagged with marker pen and posted by hand to friends, family and the occasional media flunky. Yet it wasn't until Cyrus spent three months working as a journalist in Tehran that he came across the sound, not to mention many of the samples, that would ultimately inform the Twilight Kingdom LP. Tracks from the album have since have featured on numerous independent movies and snowboard flicks, and work has already begun on a collaborative project with lanky rootsman Smoke Feathers, whose vocals grace two of the tunes on Twilight Kingdom. When he's not in his south London studio -- a stone's throw from the tree in which Blake saw his first angel -- Cyrus writes for various magazines and newspapers on a range of subjects. He suffers from tinnitus, chrondromalacia, carpal tunnel syndrome and acute hypochondria.
MAX COOPER ( www.maxcooper.net/ )
The facts are easy to establish: Max Cooper has more than 50 original releases, tracks and remixes under his belt, from glitchy reinterpretations of big bands like Hot Chip and Au Revoir Simone to straight dancefloor 12"s like his breakthrough "Serie" originals and remixes for names like Agoria, Dominik Eulberg, Extrawelt, Pig and Dan, Kaiserdisco and Sasha.
APPARAT ( www.apparat.net/ )
Apparat is a German electronic musician (Sascha Ring) living in Berlin, Germany who since 1999 has been running the Berlin based record label "Shitkatapult" together with T.Raumschmiere. Starting out with dance floor-oriented techno, he later started to create ambient music and recently became "more interested in designing sounds than beats". Recent music is closer to glitch, clicks and cuts or idm, accompanied with classical string instruments and other sounds. He works with his own tool created in MAX/MSP framework. Effects are controlled by midicontroller.
"While sensitively orchestrating his chamber musical qualities on his records or in his studio, his live performances are known for kicking some ass!" From Shitkatapult website
He collaborated with Ellen Allien in 2003 on the album Berlinette, and again in 2006 on the album Orchestra of Bubbles.

ELIZA DOOLITTLE ( www.elizadoolittle.com/)
Eliza Sophie Caird (born 15 April 1988), better known by her stage name Eliza Doolittle, is an English singer songwriter from London. She signed to the Parlophone record label in October 2008. Her debut, self-titled album, Eliza Doolittle was released on 12 July 2010. On debut it was number 3 in the UK charts. Since the album's release, Doolittle has had another two of her records hit the top 25 charts, including her single Skinny Genes. Doolittle's second single, Pack Up, has debuted in the Top 20 for the Single Top 100 and Irish Singles Charts, and in the Top 5 in the UK Singles Chart.
Before entering the charts, Doolittle toured the UK with her band to gain recognition. This later turned into the "Playground Unplugged" tour where she performed at secondary schools Hagley RC High School, The Magna Carta School, The Bewdley School and Sixth Form Centre, Highworth Grammar School and Presdales School.
The first release from Doolittle is a self-titled EP that features four tracks 'Rollerblades', 'Moneybox', 'Police Car' and 'Go Home'. This was released on 29 November 2009. Tracks from the EP were remixed by Plastic Little ('Rollerblades'), Sam Young and Jamie from The xx ('Money Box'). The EP received radio plays from Rob Da Bank, Nick Grimshaw, Fearne Cotton and Jo Whiley.
Her debut single "Skinny Genes" was released on 12 April 2010. The song had featured in a television advert for an online retailer. She told BBC's Steve Lamacq the song is "a funny scenario if you didn't like someone, if they were really annoying, but you had a good time under the sheets." Doolittle's second release is entitled "Pack Up" and released on 5 July 2010, debuting at #12 on the Official UK Singles Chart on 11 July 2010.
She recorded the song "Running For Life" which featured on the soundtrack to the film AdULTHOOD. Doolittle was a special guest on Paloma Faith's concert tour which began on 30 October 2010.
JAMIE XX (http://www.myspace.com/jamiexxlondon)
Jamie Smith (known by the stage name Jamie xx) is an English music producer and remix artist. He is a member of the London-based band The xx.
In 2007, Smith joined The xx accompanying old school friends Romy Madley Croft, Oliver Sim, Baria Qureshi from the Elliott School, notable for alumni including Hot Chip, Burial and Four Tet. The band's first album 'xx' was released in August 2009 and went on to become platinum in the UK.
Jamie went on to produce a series of remixes of songs by Gil Scott-Heron from his 2010 album I'm New Here. The first remix single 'NY Is Killing Me', credited to Gil Scott-Heron and Jamie xx, aired on radio stations across the UK and Europe in late 2010, followed by 'I'll Take Care Of U' in January 2011. Both singles drew a lot of attention by the public and critics and set the way for a 13-track remix album entitled 'We're New Here', out February 21, 2011 on the XL Recordings label and produced entirely by Jamie xx. 'We're New Here' received very positive critical acclaim and was named "a masterpiece in its own right" by BBC's Ele Beattie.

CLOCK OPERA ( www.clockopera.com/ )
Guy Connelly, the vocalist, guitarist, sampler and master machinist behind Clock Opera can be placed in that small but select pantheon of distinguished male pop vocalists that also includes Billy Mackenzie of Associates, Haydon Thorpe of Wild Beasts and Antony Hegarty of Antony and The Johnsons, all singers unafraid of expressing themselves in an unguarded, emotional way.
Andy West (bass, guitar, synths), Che Albrighton (drums, samples) and Dan Armstrong (samples, synths, keyboards, backing vocals) join Guy on stage and make guitars sound like harp glissandos and keep the pace with his constantly evolving ideas and methods of chopping up sounds into smithereens and fiddling with them sonically and in terms of pitch and rhythm.

UNQUOTE ( http://www.unquotemusic.com )
Vsevolod Ermakov aka Unquote started in making music in 2007 and began by experimenting with a variety of different styles of drum & bass. Influenced by the likes of Exit Recordings and Spectrasoul, and working with his sometime collaborator Mr Sizef, it wasn't long before he realised that he wanted to break the mould with a new soulful and deeper sound.
In 2009, Hospital Records released "The Future Sound Of Russia" featuring Unquote & Mr Sizef with their stunning track "Hours Have No Reverse Motion" and, in the same year, "Ugly Face Of War" by Unquote arrived on Alphacut. Since then, and still aged just 20, Seva has developed his solo work discovering deep dubstep along the way. He is creating fascinating and moving soundscapes whilst delicately shifting from 130 to 170bpm. Seva aims to create music that is like "hearing the sound of your soul", none more so than his remix of Bop "Enjoy The Moment" which arrived on Med School in 2010.
Keep an eye on Unquote; his productions have already caught the attention of legendary German house DJ Tom Novy, as well as a plethora from the drum+bass community including dBridge, Instra:mental, Doc Scott, Loxy, Blu Mar Ten and ASC. Unquote's debut Med School single features the epic "Hide Your Tears Because We Are In Heaven" and "Lubov Moya", a collaboration with Molecular Structures that was premiered by Danny Byrd on his BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix in August.
Autumn 2011 sees the return of Med School's celestial navigator from Saint Petersburg as he brings us his debut artist album "Reverberation Box" -- a glorious and expansive 15-track opus which is due out on 21st October.
For me definitely album of the year 2011.

After this release The Ills played their first slovak tour with band Čisté Tvary, shared stages with bands such as kolowrat, Moustache, Rosa Parks, Dawn To Come, Teapot and mainly, supported Trespassers William in Vienna, A Sunny Day in Glasgow in Košice or Stafrænn Hákon in Budapest.
To Wish Impossible Things, their debut album, also their first physical release, is called after The Cure song and combines shoegaze sound with post-rock aesthetic and emotions of live concerts. Panda Bear is the moniker of Noah Lennox, a founding member of Animal Collective and member of Jane.
Lennox grew up in the Roland Park section of Baltimore, Maryland. As a child, he played sports, studied piano and cello. He later sang tenor in his high school chamber choir. After its creation, Lennox focused on Animal Collective, putting his solo project aside. He picked it back up in 2004 and released Young Prayer that year. In 2007 he followed up with the critically acclaimed Person Pitch.
In Animal Collective, Noah was primarily responsible for percussion, although he has recently transitioned to working with samples in addition to contributing vocals and playing a variety of other instruments. He adopted the name Panda Bear from an early tape of his material, on which he drew a panda.
TELEFON TEL AVIV ( http://www.myspace.com/telefontelaviv )
Telefon Tel Aviv is a music collective based in Chicago, IL started by Josh Eustis and the late Charlie Cooper of New Orleans, Louisiana. The two originally met in high school, but did not begin working on music together until after university studies. Since 1999 Josh and Charlie had been working to cultivate their sound, based largely in electronic music, but that also showed flourishes of classical, vintage soul, ambient drone, and noise, among other things. The group continues as a mostly solo project of Josh Eustis after Charlie Cooper's death in January 2009.
In early 2000, the duo collaborated with Danny Lohner, Trent Reznor, and Alan Moulder on several remixes for Nine Inch Nails's then-to-be-released remix EP, Things Falling Apart. Shortly thereafter, Telefon Tel Aviv resumed work on their debut LP, Fahrenheit Fair Enough, for Chicago's Hefty Records, while at the same time completing the original score for the film Newport South. In 2002, the duo paired with L'Altra's Lindsay Anderson to release an EP featuring the single, Sound In A Dark Room. Work on the sophomore LP, Map of What Is Effortless, was completed in summer of 2003. On May 15th of 2007, a retrospective of their remix work for other artists was released on Hefty Records. Work on their third LP had been ongoing since late 2006 and wrapped up with the album Immolate Yourself's release on January 20th, 2009.
Over the past few years, together and separately, the duo completed production work for many other artists, including Marc Hellner/Pulseprogramming, L'Altra, The Album Leaf, Apparat, Belong, The Race, and others. They built a studio in Chicago to work on all of their projects.
Charlie Cooper passed away on Thursday 22nd January 2009, after taking an accidental overdose of sleeping pills. Josh Eustis later posted a confirmation on the band's Myspace page and the Telefon Tel Aviv website still shows an epitaph for Cooper. Josh continues to play Telefon Tel Aviv songs live as a duo with close friend Fredo Nogueira, but has said that the future of the band as regards recording new material remains uncertain.

Lyrics:
I WAS LOST IN MY OWN HEAD, MY OWN HEAD
AND I GOT SCARED OF MY REFLECTION (REFLECTION)
I FOUND GOD WORKING AT A SUPERMARKET
WHEN HE SPAT AT ME IT WAS A RELIEF, A RELIEF
I DON'T DESERVE ANY AFFECTION
I'VE HURT MYSELF MORE TIMES THAN I CAN COUNT
I WISH I COULD BREAKDOWN, BREAKDOWN
I WOKE UP
I WOKE UP IN POWDER AND BLOOD
POWDER AND BLOOD
