Wassu, Wynnwood, and Phonic Youth, a trio of extraordinarily talented American acts, all made their respective debuts on our imprint in 2020 and went on to contribute to at least one additional label release by year’s end. Building upon the momentum they generated last year, we are delighted to see these artists come together and present the wondrous “Better Place” EP, featuring the release title cut and the equally memorable production “Conscious.” Both tracks feature a deliciously groovy and soulful instrumental and lush vocals from Phonic Youth.

The extensive and vivid musical palette of Blood Groove & Kikis is fully revealed on "Wonderland", their thrilling debut artist album. Over the last few years, the acclaimed Latvian duo have received global recognition for their work — ranging from peak-hour progressive trance to deep house — from the industry's leading producers and DJ's. You can now typically hear their latest tracks on the world's leading radio programs. In spite of this success, they continue to write visionary tracks, refusing to compromise their intelligent, deeply emotive, and exceedingly "musical" brand of electronica.

The listener needs to look no further than the album's opener, "Communication", to appreciate the broad range of sounds and genres that Blood Groove & Kikis continue to infuse into their work. The downtempo, world-music-inspired "Communication" intensely crescendoes, but never fully resolves, as if to fairly suggest that the "catharsis" is still to come. The second track in the album, "Velvet", is an homage to the "classic" melodic progressive house sound, for which Silk is most known. Blood Groove & Kikis offer their own stamp on this style, with additional lead layers and numerous side melodies. The lead chords of "Sweet Harmony" and "Chordplay" are rapturous; these cuts are followed by one of the album's standout tracks, "Sunlight", which perhaps best exemplifies the uplifting spirit of Blood Groove & Kikis's work.

The album pivots slightly on "Raindrops", which showcases the duo's deeper side, on which they have also built an international reputation. A sexy, late-night groove and funky guitar riff make this cut especially memorable. The title cut, "Wonderland", is presented next, featuring an almost overwhelmingly soulful and moving vocal by Richard J Aarden. The album's first single, "Free Like A Bird", is next in line, featuring first-time Silk contributor Victoria Ray; her heavenly voice perfectly suits the floating-on-air quality of Blood Groove & Kikis's instrumental.

The final quarter of the album features more exciting collaborations. Indonesian phenom LTN joins forces with Blood Groove & Kikis on "Both", which is also the subject of our most recent remix contest. Another renowned artist, Matt Fax, provides support on "Departure", the album's penultimate track. Both of these collaborations showcase the duo's more trance-influenced side and feature powerful lead themes, coupled with dancefloor-friendly grooves. Last but not least, Richard J Aarden makes his second vocal contribution on the ebullient "Afloat". The title alone is perhaps the most accurate one-word description of the listener's mood throughout the "Wonderland" journey. The album, as a whole, is a remarkable artistic achievement by Blood Groove & Kikis, master manipulators of mood and melody.

In July 2015, acclaimed British artist and current "Only Silk" radio co-host Universal Solution showcased his blissful "Pressure Point / Luquan" EP on Silk Music. 6 months later, we are proud to present three fresh remixes of "Pressure Point". On remix detail are long-time Silk contributors Lessov (Canada) and Marsh (UK).

Lessov's remix takes off with a delicious atmosphere, including soothing percussion lines and intriguing pad layers in the background. Soon, smooth bassline notes enter the mix, as well as delicate and mysterious sound effects.

In Marsh's 'Prog' remix, a hypnotic groove is quickly established, featuring intricate percussion elements and subtle melodic layers. In the break, countless intriguing sounds are at play, as well as haunting female vocal stems.

A rather mesmerizing atmosphere is introduced in Marsh's 'Deep' remix. Numerous outstanding percussion layers and sound effects form a brilliant listening experience, while the main theme lead from the original keeps lurking in the background throughout the song.

Silk Royal celebrates the work of one of our most accomplished and well-known talents with "Sundriver 01", a collection of timeless tracks by the Polish phenom. Inspired by the late 90s Balearic sound of the legendary Chicane and The Thrillseekers, Sundriver has written countless uplifting, melodic trance & progressive classics over the past decade, some of which have been recognized as "Record of the Week" on Above & Beyond's "Trance Around The World" radio show (now "Group Therapy"). His contribution to Silk has been enormous. It's our great honor to showcase his work to date on this release.

The standout cuts featured on "Sundriver 01" include his breathtaking remixes of Shingo Nakamura's "The Four" and Mango's "Good Morning Track", perhaps two of his most famous compositions. We were also sure to feature Sundriver's wonderful contributions to our "Silk Royal Showcase" and "Only Silk" compilation series: his remix of Shingo Nakamura & Kazusa's "Move On", as well as his original track "Cast Away".

Nearly three years since the release of his last LP, virtuosic Russian trance & progressive composer Gregory Esayan graces us with his third full-length album, "My Guiding Star." The second single from our forthcoming "The Midnight Remixed 02" album features the legendary Timecop1983, a dear friend and occasional collaborator of The Midnight. With last year's single release, "Static," the synthwave community witnessed the first ever co-production between these two celebrated acts. For the first time, Timecop1983 has graced The Midnight with a remix of their work: an ambient-retro rendering of "Arcade Dreams," one of the most cinematic and thematically rich pieces from The Midnight's recent "Kids" LP.

Since the August 2017 release of "The Midnight Remixed," one of the most thrilling and spiritually rewarding endeavors in our label's history, Tim McEwan and Tyler Lyle, better known as The Midnight, have released a #1 Billboard Dance album ("Kids") and toured much of North America, Europe, and Australia. It is safe to say that the acclaimed discography and global popularity of the Los Angeles and Atlanta-based duo have both grown dramatically, since we at Silk Music last had the privilege of developing and releasing new remixes of their indelible tunes. Indeed, The Midnight is currently in the midst of another world tour, which will take them through the United States, Europe, and ultimately, Mexico, near the end of this year.

Flash forward to today, as we joyously announce the sequel, "The Midnight Remixed 02," featuring brand new remixes of more favorites by The Midnight, from "The Years" (off their debut EP, "Days Of Thunder") to "Lost Boy" (the first single from their most recent LP, "Kids"). This time around, we have recruited a cast of (almost) entirely fresh faces on remix detail, including legendary synthwave artist Timecop1983, indie-electronic phenom Uppermost, acclaimed retro-tinged act ERKKA, and deep-and-dark-progressive maestro Nox Vahn. Russian sensation PROFF, the only artist to appear on both 'Remixed' editions, offers a visionary take on "Kids" that brims with creativity, power, and musicality alike. Rounding out the extraordinary roster of remix artists, Silk Music veterans Claes Rosen, Dan Sieg, Kobana, Blood Groove & Kikis, Jayeson Andel, and A.M.R all deliver emotive and inspired renderings, ranging in style from introspective deep house cuts to cinematic-electronic power ballads. We are truly overjoyed to finally reveal these emotive and intelligent new takes on eleven more of The Midnight's celebrated classics, all of which have never been remixed before.

The compilation is inspired by our weekly house and progressive label radio show of the same name, which is co-hosted by Jacob and Tom, as well as veteran label talents Ad Brown and Zack Roth. Reaching international listeners via iTunes, Proton Radio, Digitally Imported, Pure.FM, Tenzi.FM, Dance Paradise, and other radio platforms, Silk Royal Showcase is quickly approaching its 200th episode (http://www.silkroyalshowcase.com). Carefully selected to represent the sound of Silk Royal Showcase radio, the songs included in the compilation range from the more pensive and melancholic shades of progressive house to the more club-oriented, peak-hour material we tend to play at the end of our radio show mixes and live sets.
