I feel like putting together these mixes are tough enough with all the potential for clashing vocals but throwing in a load of piano tracks into the mix turns difficulty factor up to 11, feels like playing a video game on expert mode. Starting a new vocals only series and as there are so many amazing female singers (but sadly not enough DJs) in DnB I thought I would dedicate this mix to solely female vocalists – the beautiful sounds of Leo Wood, Charlotte Haining, Ruth Royall to name a few are all here.

It's certainly a challenge putting some of these tracks together and the loop feature was a true friend but there is at least one or two moments where I was mixing through gritted teeth haha – piano on piano crime, but hopefully most of you won't spot them…. :) Hope you enjoy!

This mix could have gone on for several hours as Alix Perez doesn't make many bad tunes. What I thought most when putting this mix together is just how clean his production is. I have probably gone for some of his moodier tracks to begin with but lightened up a bit at the end, but have certainly left off some other of my favourite Perez tracks. Can't have it all I suppose. How to become a Lenzman fan in around 60 minutes. Looking at my music collection I realised how many Lenzman tracks I had and how much I love his music. He's actually someone I got into pretty late in my drum and bass listening days even though I had always heard of him and his music, I think once you start listening to him more you come to appreciate just what a top rate producer he is.
Apologies to US listeners as they probably won't be able to listen to this with the copyright laws and I'm guessing the rest of us won't very soon, so I thought I'd get it out there now.

I went crate digging with some of my earliest vinyl and realised how many Ram Records bangers I had in my collection so thought I would put together some of my favourite Ram Records releases from 1996 to 2003. This was back in the day when it was actually hard to find certain records and I had to go digging at Hard To Find Records in Birmingham or various other record shops to find certain tracks. The new generation of DJs don’t know how easy they have it!

I suppose one of the upsides of being locked up in your own home is you get to listen to more music and also put a few more mixes together than you usually would. My first love before drum & bass was always Hip Hop, starting with my first album purchase of It Takes A Nation of Millions To Hold Us Back by Public Enemy (my first single was probably Vanilla Ice but let’s skip over that :) ). Personally I think golden era hip hop was the 90s with A Tribe Called Quest, Illmatic etc but I’m probably just biased due to my age. Anyway, I’m surprised there aren’t more Hip Hop MCs that have crossed over to DnB as I have quite a bit of T.R.A.C and DRS here but not that many other that re-occur. Anyway, I will stop babbling now as I don’t think many people read this anyway. Hope you enjoy ;)
