Smooth, ethereal pads abound as 'Get Closer' opens proceedings with tapping percussion and a rocksteady break that set the mood. A low-slung tech-drenched bassline is what this is all about and when it drops it rolls hard drawing influence from that old Virus space funk sound from yesteryear. A very polished piece of production indeed.
'Monoveler' is sinister from the off, industrial borders on the medieval as the intro paves the way into a future-glitch b-line that claws its way inside the mix as the bars move forward in a tense battle all the way to the bitter end. A very cool indication of what more is in store from Mr Mortem.

“Over the past 15 years the label I started as a hobby, as a way to involve myself in drum and bass, has taken over my life. I’m so lucky to have worked with such incredible artists, have them realise their creativity, and travelled all over the world spreading the sound I love.
I deliberated for a long time over what type of record we should put together to celebrate reaching both our 15th birthday and 100th release. I like to think of us as a label that looks forward, that focuses on what the future holds and on how to make statements without sacrificing our core ideals, to release exciting music centred around the 170bpm tempo. So with this in mind I wanted the LP to be about where the label is now and where it’s going, a snapshot of the music that represents the Critical sound by core label acts and some choice friends.

The physical album is a strictly limited edition 6 piece vinyl box set with artwork designed by Steiner Grafik. The box itself is beautiful with silver ink printed on both the inside and outer shell, the records are pressed on 120gsm virgin vinyl and the 6th plate has a special etching to commemorate the birthday.

We have a deluxe version too which is limited to 100 copies. This includes the album box , a special aluminium print of the artwork, a signed poster, a multi page fanzine designed by Studio Yasseen Faik, stickers and a slipmat.
