Matthew Melchionne is an animator and musician living in Philadelphia. He is most interested in pastiche, sampling and collage. He’s not particularly good at talking about himself.

When I first had the opportunity to work for U2, it occurred to me that there was a poignant synecdoche implicit in the project. To me, Retracking a catalogue and the song ‘Miracle Drug,’ where Bono pleads for a medicine that will save a life, are both really paradoxical artistic statements. To honor a creative legacy while moving forward with energy. To accept and imminent death while yearning for a live-saving therapy. In my own limited way, I wanted to make a graphic that would suggest the cycle of flourishing/cU2ancerous growth and decay/life anew. I also really like desert settings for videos.

Of course I gagged when I learned that my work would be with U2. “Sunday Bloody Sunday” is in regular rotation at my DJ sets. I love how it builds on Nile Rogers disco guitar music but also anticipates Rave and Madchester. I think the earnest sentimentality of Bono’s lyrics and melodicism and The Edge’s novel approach to guitar playing unlocked a lot for me, as an adolescent!

Jake Gonzalez also known as “Globe” is an up-and-coming director, originally from Corpus Christi, Texas, who relocated to Los Angeles 2 years ago to pursue his dream of filmmaking. From an early age, Jake has been captivated by movies, drawn to their power to tell stories that inspire, entertain and move audiences.

Jake's journey in Los Angeles has been one of resilience, grit and determination. Jake remains hungry to learn. He believes that there is always room for improvement, and he is constantly seeking new ways to refine his craft.

"This story is about the temptation of giving up when you’re really close to the finish line. And the characters represent how evil things are often hidden by beauty."

We (Cooper Roussel and Laura Gorun) are L.A.-based directors. On specific projects, we work with a third partner, Dimitri Basil. We are transitioning into directing a feature film. The goal is to make movies and have adventures until we turn to dust.

"Considering a compilation of hit songs from a generational and legendary band, like U2’s “Songs of Surrender,” you immediately get hit by a wave of nostalgia. You start to remember the first time you heard these songs, and rather than just listening to the music, they become soundtracks to the specific moments you experienced them.
For me (Cooper), the first time I heard U2’s song, “Pride” -I was 11 and my slightly older brother and I blasted it on repeat, running back and forth across our small apartment jumping and toppling over every piece of furniture. It's a vivid memory, one that’s stuck with me for 20 years.
For this project, we decided to reach out to fans and ask them about memories that U2's influential song, "Pride," conjured up inside them. From road trips to daily commutes, lounging with loved ones to solitary sky-gazing, unique objects to animal encounters: this video is a montage of memories, and a depiction of moments that have a moving and meaningful connection to one of U2s most iconic songs."

Liza Lipskaia is a Ukrainian based in New-York director. She started her career in 2017 as a producer and director. Liza’s work spans the world of tv commercials, music videos, food advertising, and branded content. She is always in pursuit of making high-quality content adding her unique visual language and point of view.
