Endangered is excited to welcome back Swiss artist Soma Soul with a new 4- track EP, featuring a remix from label boss Brian Cid.

Just under a year ago, Zurich's Soma Soul debuted on Endangered with a spectacular EP of cinematic techno. Since then, he's had more music come out on Jonas Rathsman's ELEMENTS, and Sabb's RADIANT labels. In his return to Endangered, the Illusion of Control EP continues where the last one left off, and shows the evolution of an artist in a short period of time.

No time is wasted easing into the release, with the title track bringing the energy right off the bat. A rollercoaster of emotions flows throughout, and peaks with a dramatic breakdown. 'Symphony Lake' follows, and continues the emotional trip. Soma Soul's signature cinematic sounds really shine through here, with the production feeling like a full electronic orchestra.

After only releasing original tracks on the label, Brian Cid makes his remixer debut on Endangered, and does not disappoint with his take on 'Symphony Lake'. An even more driving element is added to the beat, and Brian takes the parts from the original on a divine journey. 'No Gravity' closes the release, and Brian Cid describes it best after playing this one at a recent gig: 'Dark vibes all the way. Energy on a million.'

EDGE ushers in the 2019 summer season by welcoming Sahar Z and Vic F to the label for their debut EP. Hailing from the progressive house hotbed of Tel Aviv, Sahar Z has been a fixture of his country's electronic underground for over two decades. As an artist on influential imprints such as Balance Music, Bedrock, Lost & Found and microCastle, Sahar has firmly etched his place in the genre's history. Newcomer Vic F was introduced to the world through the duo's debut collaboration 'Ollie'. Released in March of 2018 on UK behemoth Anjunadeep, it's joyous, summery sounds were a staple in the sets of Hernan Cattaneo, Guy Mantzur and Khen. Now coming together for just their second ever project, Sahar Z and Vic F land on EDGE with 'Whispers in The Dark'.

Spread across three tracks it's the mystical charm of 'Whispers In The Dark' that gets the journey underway. Anchored by dulcet beats, hypno-grooves and sultry rhythmic structures, it's a production that flows through a myriad of vocal motifs. Cross cultural in ethos and dramatic in delivery; it's spirited wails, tantalizing tones and meditative arps form a free flowing narrative which delivers it's spiritually uplifting message.

The release continues in fine fashion with the exquisite vibes of 'Guts Over Fear'. Beginning with smooth bass stabs, acidic designs and drone-like atmospheres, it's effortless cadence powers forward, while layers of drums assemble in a lush organic space. Surreal and dream like, sonic artefacts and hazy harmonics trail across the framework, before a gaseous interlude effortlessly shifts energy into a glowing finale.

Rounding out the collection is 'Spinner' which finds Sahar & Vic crafting their own unique brand of cosmic funk. Esoteric and groovy, it showcases the more techno inspired side of the duo's repertoire. It's rhythmic affinity becomes infectious as laser-like lines, percussive waves and a spoken word storyboard unite over perfectly contoured bass and buzzing electronics. Replete with mystical qualities, it's a heady finale to a stunning collection of music from Sahar and Vic, one which furthers the duo's studio synergy moving forward into the future.

The latest edition of our free download series welcomes Pongo for their first appearance. Based in Italy and made up of real-life brothers Giovanni and Daniele Bruni, Pongo first emerged in 2017 with a pair of EPs via Connected Frontline. Remixed by Aaaron and Artbat, and finding favour with a broad selection of electronic music tastemakers, the releases quickly established the duo’s neatly produced, club-centric sound. A string of projects for Booka Shade’s Blaufield Music soon followed, before the duo found a more permanent home on Marc Romboy’s long-standing Systematic imprint. In a year that has seen Pongo release seven original productions and a remix, the duo also took to re-imagining the 1979 disco-pop classic ‘Moskow Disko’ by Belgian band Telex. The latest release on Clubsonica Records welcomes Julian Nates to the label for his debut EP. As one of Argentina's most promising talents, the Cordoba resident lays claim to releases on Nick Warren's The Soundgarden, Antrim's Or Two Strangers and Soundteller Records, while also earning the praise from progressive music tastemakers Hernan Cattaneo and Guy J. Now embarking on the biggest release of his career, Julian lands on Clubsonica with 'Wild Side' alongside remixes from Analog Jungs and Fabri Lopez.

Emotion and groove have always been at a premium in Julian's productions, and the title selection 'Wild Side' exemplifies that perfectly. On a bed of rippling bass tones comes buzzing electronics, growling stabs and perfectly manicured shakers. As momentum builds a tranquil arp advances the narrative into hypnotic territory, before effortlessly segueing into a musical interlude which seals its dance floor appeal. The companion piece 'Exchanging Souls' continues the smooth and seductive ethos of the EP with rolling grooves, lively rhythms and glowing atmospheres. Mysterious and mystical from the outset, the piece flows through bouncy arps and buoyant tones, before haunting overlays and wispy effects entice the final act with emotive moments.

The first interpretation of 'Wild Side' is provided by Analog Jungs who make their label debut. 2019 proved to be a breakout year for the Cordoba duo, landing releases on Nick Warren's two prestigious imprints The Soundgarden and Hope Recordings. Also, a favourite of world class DJs John Digweed and Hernan Cattaneo, Analog Jungs now follow their well received 'Liria' EP with a stunning interpretation of 'Wild Side'. Full and driving, the groove commands a large presence as percussive flurries and arpeggiated fragments adorn the framework. Evolving with a veteran's savvy, timely modulation provides waves of euphoric tension while bulbous tones and lively percussion add momentum. Haunting harmonics highlight the main break, delivering impassioned moments, before a rush of beats and drums unite for a powerful drop.

The second and final interpretation of 'Wild Side' is provided by Fabri Lopez who returns to the label for his second appearance. The Argentinean artist first appeared on the Colombian imprint in June of 2019 with a remix of Russlan Jaafreh's 'Hanguk'. In a year that saw play and support from Hernan Cattaneo and Nick Warren, the Villa Mercedes resident now gets 2020 underway with a superb take on 'Wild Side'. Taking a cue from the original Fabri crafts a full groove and smooth rhythmic core. Nostalgic in nature, the piece flows through emotive chord changes and sparkling electronics, before shifting energy into a transcendent break. Delicate yet buzzing, the centrepiece expertly melts down into a dramatic build as rugged synths and a wave of noise spark a character filled finale. An inspired remix from Fabri which rounds out a stunning Clubsonica debut for Julian Nates, an artist who continues to operate at a creative peak.

The mystical sounds of the masked man known as AIWASKA has found much acclaim with his glorious ‘Medicine’ release on Exploited Ghetto. Fans of the track emerged far and wide. Eelke Kleiijn creates a more urgent feel than that of the original. He takes everything that’s great about ‘Medicine’ and gives it just the right amount of boost to create a more intense dancefloor moment. The chugging, arpeggiated bass groove still drives the track, but in a more relentless fashion. The track builds through slow-burning modulation, with a driving percussion success that features off-kilter snare hits and chunky tom thumps. As the track reaches its climax, a dizzying array of sirens, rising FX and white noise tones elevate it into an explosive flurry of sound, sending shivers up the spine. It’s quite spectacular.

The secretive AIWASKA project has been receiving big support from the Burning Man community, and Damian Lazarus recently released one of his tracks through his scene-leading Crosstown Rebels imprint. There’s much more to come from this masked man. Kleijn also has his links to Burning Man, having composed the track ‘1,000 Lights’ as part of a 670 drone art piece at Burning Man 2018 in memory of festival founder, Larry Harvey.

Booka Shade open the New Year on home imprint Blaufield Music as they deliver their latest EP ‘Dear Future Self’ alongside spoken word artist and poet Lazarusman.

As we enter the start of another decade, German producers, live act and label bosses Booka Shade continue remain at the forefront of the melodic house and techno landscape, armed with their ever-evolving live set up, releases via legendary labels including John Digweed’s Bedrock, Suara and their own blossoming Blaufield Music, and stand- out performances at the likes of Amsterdam Dance Event, Brunch In The City, and Boiler Room’s very first Warehouse event in the Middle East at The Grid, Dubai. Having spent the closing half of 2019 at work in the studio and on the road to shape and curate a variety of musical projects, January welcomes the first in a series releases as the duo deliver a medley of original cuts in the form of their ‘Dear Future Self EP’, including a collaboration with South African artist Lazarusman, dropping ahead of a yet to be announced project on the label in the year ahead.

Hypnotic and warping from the off, ‘Dear Future Self’ balances wandering, off-kilter lead synths with refined percussion and Lazarusman’s ever-mesmerising lyrics, with the ‘Club Mix’ mix laying the focus on acid-tinged leads whilst the ‘Extended Mix’ harnesses deeper, soaring textures. Second original ‘Atlantic Beam’ engages rolling, organic percussion amongst sweeping melodies and blossoming stabs to reveal a rich journey through builds and breaks, offering an impressive first glimpse into a much bigger project still yet to come... stay tuned.
