Time flies as they say and we're living on the fast lane. Thirteen years deep, looking back at over 150 releases on our main label alone it is time for Upon You Records to celebrate a special anniversary once again, even though it feels like we've reached a two digit status only yesterday.
But 13 is a lucky number and therefore we're in for a treat, proudly presenting „UPON YOU THE 13TH", the first of two parts of our special birthday compilation, catering formerly unreleased cuts, updates and pure dancefloor bangers brought to you by both friends and longtime collaborators as well as fresh talent on the rise, all representing the sound of Upon You Records for 2k20.
The opening tune „Wisdom" is created by Innellea to redefine the term TechnoTrance for a new decade bringing forth ever floating midrange synth modulations, harmonic pads and a magical mystical early morning vibe with a spine-tingling, energetic twist.
Following up is our main man Ruede Hagelstein who's teaming up with Andrei Matorin for „Minus (String Update 2020)", presenting a new angle and approach towards his 2014-released classic „Minus", exploring a moodier, beautifully complex and surely Motor City-influenced variation of the genre widely known and loved as TechHouse.
Next up is „Sirens", a contribution by Brooklynite Rao which has become a member of the Upon You Records family in late 2k19 – a.k.a. only recently. Walking the line between pumping, yet well melodic Tech House and mesmerizing (Neo)Trance for distinct primetime sessions the NYC resident finds a perfect balance in pairing masterly sculpted, aggressive bass attacks and a thrilling arrangement of intertwined harmonic call and response sequences in this tune.
With „Eldad" we see another collaboration coming to fruition here, this time a joint venture between Adam Ten and Mosko. Together, the two producers bring on stripped down, slightly tribal infused heat to every dancefloor before hitting hard with a killer midrange synth motif beamed at punters of today straight from the future. But lo and behold, a little Balearic-leaning surprise is to be found in here as well.
Finally Eins Tiefer present their „Roboheart“, a minimalist, yet complex musical affair amalgamating extremely sculpted beat science, a sweet lo-fi melody, eerie, mind-bending vocals and brooding low end build ups for the most psyched out piece of Minimal Techno journey you'll come across throughout this season. This is a trip.
