Plasi - Sorrow
I always used to say this song is about helping someone come out of depression while realizing it might be too late. I applied that same feeling of hopelessness in many ways with my second home, Greece. After many years of struggle, pain, and having their real problems ignored from the outside world, the financial crisis cast a deeply painful shadow on the country's future. At some point, there was no help unless someone decided to make reforms from within.
Plasi - Colors
All experiences in life create a spectrum of colors. For me, experiencing new cultures and learning new languages has been a big part of that creation. I was born in Greece and mainly grew up in Sweden. Later on, I studied in Italy and Austria, lived in Denmark, had close connections to Canada and the Netherlands, and have had the privilege to travel around the world. This song is dedicated to my own spectrum in life and how these colors live with me every day.
Plasi - Bright
When playing it live together with my band, something special happens, and it's usually one of my favorite moments during a show. One night during a concert in Berlin in 2019, I saw the entire audience collectively sing the chorus aloud for the first time. "Bright" has a hard time getting kicked out of my setlist after that evening.
Plasi - 14 Days
At the pandemic's start, we were told "14 days" is the amount of time needed to isolate until it was safe enough to meet in-person. Symbolically, it's when the definitions of distance and connectivity were suddenly changed; they couldn't be taken for granted anymore. It's a situation that deeply affected many families like mine, spread out across many countries.
Plasi - I Wish You Heard Me
I couldn't have imagined the final product when I entered the studio with this song. When I played it to my producers, I remembered how their minds started to work. Suddenly we were sitting with many layers added to a lonely guitar and me. I'm always amazed how they managed to develop my soundscape, and with this one, they took me to a different planet. The song is about a one-way street that you wish would run in two directions. You're trying to signal it differently but also care about not breaking the existing connection. "I Wish You Heard Me" is hope for more in a relationship that should've been deeper than it ended up.
Plasi - Who Are We
"Who We Are" is the first song I ever released as "Plàsi." Written in 2016, it's the song that started my journey. I wrote it as a reaction to Europe's inability to deal with the Syrian refugee crisis. It was a crisis of the people who fled, people who risked their lives for a better future. But, we made it about "our" crisis, unable and unwilling to collaborate with our neighbours.
Plasi - Run
I connect this song to the Julian Alps in Slovenia. Along with my musicians, who are also my producers, we decided to stop here for a couple of days in-between gigs to start working on my new EP, 'Where I Belong.' I knew "Run" would be one of the singles when we began to record it in this mountain setting. The song reflects the sense of freedom we shared at that moment.
