Starting our conversation about electronic music genres, we would like to tell you about one of the most popular: CHILLHOP. Some call it the Ambient or the Millenials and it's partially true, as it exploded in the mid-2010's as a new microgenre.
Basically, Chillhop takes principles from Lo-Fi and Hip Hop, hence "hop" in the name, and combines them with some of the elements of Chillout music. It usually has a positive or neutral attitude and is very easy on the ears.
What distinguishes Chillhop is the use of degradation samples, such as vinyl crackling noise and other imperfections, which are also borrowed from Lo-Fi. The rhythm is usually very repetitive, and the tracks often include guitar and piano in the mix. It is quite rare that you can find a Chillhop track with vocals, as this genre is designed to be as intrusive as possible by allowing the listener to enter a certain state of flow.
